Sweetbriar Golf Club - Legacy 18

Showed up at 6:40pm to walk 9 holes. Ben in the shop was very kind to direct me the fastest 9 hole route before sunset. Not that Ben needs a raise but a well earned pat on the back is in order for his outstanding service while I was in the shop.

The course was just my style for a guy who sprays tee shots all over the place, didn't lose a ball and every hole is right on front of you so no surprises. The GolfNow app helped me sniff out the river in front of 7 green and 9 tucked green as I couldn't tell from the tee.

Conditions were expected for the end of a perfect day in April. No bunkers I think and minimal water hazards made it very playable. Would have never stopped if it didn't pop up on the GolfNow app as I was traveling thru town and glad I did, give it a try.

Played there today. Went out early as I usually do. Didn't have to wait at all. Course is in fantastic shape. Greens roll great. Staff is excellent. Can't wait to play there again.

For mid April course is in tremendous shape. Great value and layout is challenging but allows for a few mishaps. Pace was fine.

The course was in great condition. The value through Golfnow is unbelievable. I can't wait to use this website again.

The Sweer Briar Legacy in the fall and spring is a great value.

I didn't have high expectations for golfing in November, but I was impressed with the conditions of the golf course. It's a fun course to play, it's not difficult, but it's not as easy as say Springvale. The starter isn't very good at his job and is rude. Had a tee time for 12:48, but probably didn't tee off until after 1:00. Put us off behind a 4some who's tee time was a after ours. His reasoning was because they were on the schedule (they called in and paid full) versus us doing it online, which was more work for him. It has a convenient driving range right next to the clubhouse and a putting green to practice before teeing off.

For late October golf in Ohio it would be hard to beat this course for conditions, Hot Deal was an exceptional value. Played again the next day,

AS a first time player here i thought this course had a different feel to it, alot of doglegs, mostly left ,which is always a challenge for average hackers like myseif ,but i felt very confident and at ease due to how great the fall conditions were, the water hazards were a suprise with some running across the fairways ,great deals, great courses, than again!

I live in the area, and play there quite a bit. I know that it's fall, and lots of courses are aerating, but the greens were terrible, and there was even large areas in the fairways and rough that had been done add well. It was ok fir a 10$ hot deal tee time, but automatic 2 putt on the greens of you go. You won't make anything outside 3 ft.

Played it in the afternoon. The weather was fantastic. 70 degrees. The greens were true and fast, just the way I like them. Finished in 3-1/2 hrs.

Great course for the price on GolfNow, relatively easy with a couple of holes that force you to really place your tee shot.

Get out early on the weekends, or your round will be longer than normal.

doesn't have decent distance markers. driving range balls come way too close on the 10 hole into the fairway.

I was a little skeptical in booking a round of golf after 2 1/2 days of steady rain and below average temperatures but the Legacy 18 @ Sweetbriar deal was too good to pass on considering the aforementioned deterrents.
The course was in very good condition which was proven by my surprise that carts were permitted on the fairways @ 90° and aside from a couple of bunkers, the sand traps were in great shape (considering the amount amount of precipitation they were asked to absorb).
What amazed me the most was the condition of Holes #10-12 which traditionally do not drain as fast as the remainder of the course. They contained zero standing water nor were there any areas of saturation.
Kudos to the Superintendent and his staff.
Needless to say, I highly recommend a round here to anyone who has hesitated to play this course. You will become a repeat customer.......just as I did.

We grabbed a hit deal for $12 here. The round was certainly worth that, But I wouldn't pay much more. I also played with my travel league on their Legacy course 1 week ago. Both rounds were played under a cart path only rule. Legacy has good drainage & I thought cpo was not warranted, but its hard to fault a course for protecting what they've built. The older sweetbriar course seems abandoned in some respects. There are large wet areas that are present year after year, obviously not being addressed. The greens were decent though. But the sweetbriar 18 should be avoided anytime there has been recent rains. The pace on front nine was totally miserable, we had 3 groups on almost every tee box. We played behind a senior league, which might of been playing an end of year championship or something but it was ridiculously slow. We played the very wet back nine in 1 1/2 hrs. Hot dogs were good, and service before and after excellent.

Sweetbriar is my favorite course for weekly play. The greens are always in great shape and the course recovers well from the rough winters. The other course Legacy, is also one of the best in the area.

Although Legacy gets all the press, this redo of the older holes of Sweetbriar is actually one of the better practice rounds you can have on the west side of Cleveland (public). The greens were in immaculate shape, and although this 18 has no sand traps, it still requires some course management getting around the water hazards, etc. Great value if found discounted on Golfnow.

We were paired up with a group so played the blue tees instead of the black. Almost every hole was a short iron into the green. Greens were a little rough with spike marks but it was later in the day. The kitchen was already closed when we made the turn so no hot dog. Pace of play picked up on the back 9. Slow starting off. I think we even teed off about 25 minutes late.

Good course,Great environment ,good people at a nice pace.

Pace of play was like a death march. It took 3 hours to play the back nine. They had a group outing on a Saturday. Ranger was useless. Played with my usual foursome, 18 holes.
