Sweetbriar Golf Club - Legacy 18
About
Located in Avon Lake, Sweetbriar Golf Club boasts two scenic 18-hole courses that are routed through natural wetlands and forests. The front nine of the Legacy Course was built in 2002 and the back nine was added in 2007. The nines have different landscapes, creating a diverse set of holes that will have you using all the clubs in your bag. The front nine has a links design with winding fairways and large greens while the back nine was carved from forests. With natural wetland areas and a number of interesting risk-reward par 5s, the back of the golf course has more of an east coast feel. The other 18-hole course at Sweetbriar was built in the 60s. It is shorter than the Legacy but is still challenging, which makes it great for beginners.

Hole number seven is very picturesque. Photo submitted by mrawill on 06/06/2013
The course was as expected.
Nice club house. Course was as expected. Play was pretty slow as it was Memorial Day. Greens in good shape as were the fairways. "Construction " on at least 5 holes.
Staff friendly and helpful. Could never find the Cart Girls and they were out as we saw them on distant holes.
excellent way to spend a thursday afetrnoon
course was in really good shape, fairly challenging and staff was friendly
as expected
been to Sweeetbriar before ,it's always been in nice shape. the staff was extremely cordial and polite
Great Track!
The greens were aerated, but it's hard for me to complain considering I paid $24 for 18 and a cart. In mid-season, it's my understanding that 18 and a cart is priced around $55+
The rest of the course was in pretty good shape. Some of the bunkers have been taken out, which I believe takes away from the character and challenge of the golf course. The 6th hole needs to be redone to be closer to it's original playability.
Greens plugged and sanded - poorly
There was no mention of it, but the greens were plugged and sanded, and not rolling true at all. It was a nice day and had the course to ourselves. The fairways were mostly average, with some areas needing work. Tee boxes were in good shape. Seems like most of the effort goes into the Legacy course. Probably worth the $10-$15 bucks more to play Legacy.
Sweetbriar 18-Hole GolfNow booking
This course was in great condition for early May. There are several water hazards, par 3s, and par 5s. Good your if you are trying to challenge your golf game
Greens
The greens were recently aerated so putting was impossible.
Favorite course
Course is always a great course to play. Greens are always in great condition.
Good course if you can get spring rates
I think their regular rates are in the mid $60.00s per round w/cart
I got this for $28 with the Golf Now website
For $28 yes / For $60+ no
FYI
They allow 5-somes / beware
nice course but don't pay full price
Found a hot deal to play a local favorite. Pretty open course, nice greens. Not much as far as elevation changes. No cart girl on a Saturday? Unacceptable.
Sweetbriar
a little less effort from legacy and tad into sweetbriar would be nice.
Good Shape for Mid-April
Overall, the course was in good shape for mid-April as well as having had an inch + rain a few days earlier. The fairways were in very good shape. There was quite a bit of standing water, but you generally had to be off the beaten path to be impacted by it. The greens were a bit slow, but putts rolled true. It was a great value with a $19.99 hot deal (don't expect to see that again). The course will only get better as the weather improves.
Long day!
Greens were in great shape for this time of the year. Definitely not the course to play when carts are not allowed off paths. It is too bad that walking is not allowed on Legacy. Course should provide sand for fixing divots and on tee boxes of par 3.
All in all a good day but slow play is a constabt at this course.
Course condition for early season is great
Greens were firm and for the most part very healthy for it being this early in spring. Can't wait to see how it looks in a month
Golf legacy
Good greens , challenging for all levels . 5 sets of tees
Sweetbriar is a favorite course. Why don't I play it more?
Played Sweetbriar on Saturday morning. Fall conditions: overcast, leaves coming down. But no one was in front of us (played as a two-some with my son), and no one was directly behind us, which makes it the perfect golf day. The course is challenging enough for us (not club players, but decent). Fairways were in good condition, even though they had been aerated (sp?). Greens were in great condition, too. As we left, we asked the question in the subject line: why don't we get out here more? Great course, decent price, well worth it.
very nice course if not for....
really enjoy this course. great pace of play challenging enough to keep you interested. except for the inches of rain the night before which had a TON of casual water all over the course, and the wind which was howling. but that's not the fault of the course or staff which is excellent.
great time
Course was a little wet on several holes. Otherwise course was great.
Nice course - overpriced
This is a nice course, challenging but not tricked up. However $45 for a weekday is terrible. Two of us found it on Golfnow for $25 and that is a great deal but who are they kidding with $45 and $27 for nine? No wonder people are not golfing anymore.
