Sweetbriar Golf Club - Legacy 18

About
Located in Avon Lake, Sweetbriar Golf Club boasts two scenic 18-hole courses that are routed through natural wetlands and forests. The front nine of the Legacy Course was built in 2002 and the back nine was added in 2007. The nines have different landscapes, creating a diverse set of holes that will have you using all the clubs in your bag. The front nine has a links design with winding fairways and large greens while the back nine was carved from forests. With natural wetland areas and a number of interesting risk-reward par 5s, the back of the golf course has more of an east coast feel. The other 18-hole course at Sweetbriar was built in the 60s. It is shorter than the Legacy but is still challenging, which makes it great for beginners.

A few greens need work
Interesting course with a variety of holes. Overall, course was in very good shape. A few greens need some work. There were a 2 greens where we treated the conditions as ground under repair and took relief. Staff was friendly and pace of play was good (4 hours, 15 minutes). $67 was a bit high for a 2:45 PM round.
Great course but gps carts are annoying
The carts all have gps which is great except the cart won't drive off you are "off limits" which meant that when there were doing repairs, you could not go around those areas!
terrible drainage. extremely soggy conditions. way too expensive for those conditions/quality. cart path under repair surrounded by hay and mud. price should match course quality
Save your money
I only paid $7 and i still feel like that was $7 too much. No idea how this course operates charging what they do at normal rates. Course conditions may be considered immaculate in 1947 but not in this century. Staff couldn’t be any less unwelcoming. Felt like i was at Popeyes chicken. Asked the bartender for ice and you would have thought I was a party of 8 asking for separate checks. Place of play for a Wednesday at 11 am couldn’t have been any worse arriving to the 6th tee 4 groups deep waiting to tee off. Rangers just stare at it as if they are bird watching. If you are considering playing this course I’d recommend heading to your local pub and playing golden tee instead.
Disappointed
Multiple tee boxes without grass. The greens were probably the worse I’ve played. They were very spongy with very little roll, but a lot of bounce.

We apologize for the state of the tee boxes and greens during your visit; your feedback is greatly appreciated as it helps us improve. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
Unhappy with Golf Pass
I did not like having to use Golf Pass. I had a gift card for the course that I was not able to use on the website. I was forced to use my credit card and the course would not allow me to switch when I arrived.
Not knowing which greens were new (played like concrete) and already established greens (soft and slow) was my only complaint.
Great Day for golf
First time since last year. Even better this time. Course was in great condition, greens rolled true, played a round in less than 4 hours. Brother-in-law and I played at our own pace. Weather could not have been better. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Even the ground crew spoke to us about our day.
We’re glad you liked the GPS feature, but we apologize for the inconvenience with the restricted areas during repairs. We’ll take this into account to improve the experience. Thanks for your feedback, and we hope your next round is smoother!
