Very bad shape for the $$$
This course is not worth the $75 price tag. The greens are beat up, tee boxes are in bad shape, fairways are chewed up. I get the price tag because of its location, but that’s all it has going for it.

Below Average At Best
Poor experience overall. Right away I was basically talked down to by the clubhouse staff as I was paying because my golf shirt didn’t have a “proper collar” (I was wearing a blade collar shirt that Tiger and other pros wear nowadays). Told them it was in fact a golf shirt and they still put up a stink over it. This is a muni course btw! Course conditions were awful for the $76 price. 2 greens were basically dirt/sand and the fairways were chopped up on almost every hole. Will not be going back.

Poor
Gave it a 2nd chance... 1st time were held bc 2 people we didn't know were late. So we paid full rate for twilight start time. If they're late make them miss their tee time, not us... today there was a delay... something about a group from an hour earlier... so starter lets out two people at 1:40, then 2 foursomes. I was an individual and would have asked but starter didnt have communication with clubhouse... someone brought him a radio as we all sat there and waited... 5 hr round bc they kept cart path only all day... when i asked a marshall... he said the manager was home... it was 80 degrees with a hard soil... mark the course and allow carts to move around, its 7000 yds and course conditions change... wasted my promos on this course...

Nice course
Pleasant course. No hills. Great for seniors. A little long 5600 yards from yellow and 5500 red

Great shape
Course is in excellent shape and the pace of play was smooth with 10 minute tee time intervals.

Improving
This course has improved from prior years but still has work to do. The greens were all in good shape, fairways were ok. The staff is not very helpful or friendly. There is no water on the course so bring your own. There are zero amenities not even the pro shop is ope. It’s just the course. The rangers all seem to have a power issue. Personally won’t play here anytime soon.

Harassing Rangers
As soon as we arrived to the course, the ranger, John was harassing us off the start. We just placed our bags in the carts and he pulled up to us questioning us multiple times if we had alcohol in our cooler bags (it was 90 degrees out). After telling him no on multiple occasions he said if “I catch you with any, you’ll never play a f’n county course again”. Nice little welcome to Soldier Hill.
Secondly, The other cart in my group drove in the parking lot to put his partners clubs on the cart. John in his cart was following and yelling that He can’t bring the cart in the lot. “Rules are rules” saying we should know the handbook (okay?).
As we were heading towards the 1st tee box, a group that finished 18 came up to us and warned us about that ranger saying he was harassing them their entire round.
At the tee box, even the starter warned us about John saying John used to be a Gold glove boxer. We took it as an indication that he’s gotta few screws loose. He Told us to be careful because John will kick anyone off. A few moments later, John pulled up to the starter and was telling him how he saw a group on the back 9 with red solo cups. John said he was gonna “get them” and kick them off the course (that’s the clean version).
A few other 4somes throughout our round also pointed out this belligerent ranger. We further witnessed a 2some drive on the fairway (it was cart path only). John drove out in his cart cursing asking if they think this is a joke. John took the cart keys out of the 2somes cart and drove off yelling for them to walk. (Not a great way to handle a situation. Maybe a simple reminder about the cart path or politely ask to drive the cart back to the path). Just left the cart in the middle of the fairway. Little obstruction for the group behind.
Besides this ranger, I just want to point out that the county did a great job cleaning up and making the course look nice since they bought it a few years back.
But if you want to enjoy a round of golf with your friends, and not feel stressed out by rangers, I would not recommend playing here.
My group will probably wait until next year to give the course another shot, in hopes that ranger will not be there.
