Get a taste of the great outdoors - and a bit of Cincinnati history - by golfing a round at Sharon Woods, the 730-acre park that opened in 1932 as the Hamilton County Park District's first park.

The Sharon Woods Golf Course is also, it would follow, the oldest golf course maintained by the park district and was inaugurated by none other than Bobby Jones way back in 1938, and it still offers a challenging round of championship golf. It has also earned a couple of honors: The Cincinnati Enquirer calls it the "Best Bang For The Buck," and Golf Digest gives it four stars.

The bang-buck ratio is pretty darn good, as, being a county golf course, the Sharon Woods Golf Course offers 18 holes for under $30.

Don't bother...

Course is in the worst shape it's ever been. Fairways are brown/dirt and the greens are harder than the cart path. The staff doesn't seem to care either.

Paid $50 to pay and they didn't seem to care about raising a complaint after the round about the course condition. The park district should be ashamed of what Sharon Woods is right now.

Horrible Customer Service

My cart partner brought a cooler on the course. This cooler was seen by the pro while we spoke with him and warmed up. He decided on the 2nd hole to drive up to us with a park ranger who wrote my friend a ticket for brining alcohol on the course. All this coward had to do was to tell us no outside alcohol was permitted and we would have purchased from the clubhouse. He turned a money making opportunity into a horrible customer service mistake. Never play here.

Surprising

Course proved to be in good shape as we made our way around during the day. There are a couple blind spots out there that should have something in place for safety reasons. We had 3 to 5 balls fly over our head while standing in fairways throughout the day, but overall course was in real good shape.

One note. The whole searching of people’s coolers before golf starts is unique that I haven’t seen at any other courses around the tri state area. Always thought golf Pros were supposed to give golf tips not be security guards searching people gold cart items. Kind of Soured the round before we started..

Must Play Bill Diddel Course

This is a must play old school early Bill Diddel Course. It has it all great layout over hilly terrain, terrific built up greens and great conditions.

Beautiful natural scenery

Spent five years as a member and resident of a local country club in Cincinnati. Recently moved to a townhome in Sharonville very close to this course. Have played it three times in the past five weeks. Very impressed with the stunning views of the autumn foliage and huge trees on a rolling landscape. The staff was professional and the pro shop is not your typical county run facility. Love the hills and natural beauty of the course. Course was in great condition and greens were rolling very fast and smooth. Rather impressed with everything. The 19th hole offered an awesome setting to enjoy our adult beverages. I think I found a new golf home without the country club price tag.

Disappointed

Haven't played here for 10 years and not sure I'll be back. We had four groups for first tee time of the day and I think we all arrived before any of the workers at the course including people who cut the greens. Hamilton Parks require a sticker at course but the person didn't arrive until after 7:00 so lady went around collecting $16 or $8 for parking sticker. So $36 for greens with cart add $8 to get to $44. This isn't a $44 course. Grab grass growing on greens in spots and plenty of bare spots around greens. Rough hasn't been cut in awhile. Give me Whitewater or Mill course anyday. Not sure why they don't require sticker. Is this another East side tax?

Nice course, with lots of elevation changes

Great course because it's not overly challenging but still presents several holes where you have to think. There are a couple doglegs with sloping fairways, you have to plan your tee shot. There are some up-hill and blind shots that make other holes interesting. There are a couple par 4s where driver is riskier than maybe a long hybrid. And then there are a few pretty straight-forward holes where you can just hit a shot without any analysis.

There were a couple greens that were splotchy in parts, but otherwise the course is always in great condition.

Granddaughter's birthday visit

Excellent staff, very friendly. Course is challenging but fair. Lots of elevation changes and blind targets, my wifw and I enjoyed our round. Played here before over 20 years ago and had to play again on our visit to Cininnati from South Florida.
