The Grizzly Golf & Social Lodge - Grizzly Course

About
The Grizzly Course is a collaboration between Jack Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead. Since opening in 1972, this challenging layout has been host to numerous PGA, LPGA, and Senior PGA events. The golf course features long, curvy fairways lined with towering trees and there are strategically placed bunkers throughout. The three final holes feature water hazards, which are also accompanied by a difficult array of bunkers. It offers a fair amount of difficult holes but overall the course is playable for a range of skill levels, which is why it is an appealing layout for tournaments. In addition to the two courses, the Golf Center also boasts an 11,000-square foot putting green and an Academy Course with four championship holes.

Our "home" course in the summer
This time the course looked pretty bad overall. A number of the fairways had brown or dirt spots. Holes 4-7 were cart path only and I agree with them doing this given the conditions. The whole course was wet and greens very wet as you got big ball marks when you got a ball on the green.
This is a great course and we really enjoy playing it but the conditions were not good today. I know the course gets a lot of play and leagues. The staff is great and everyone is very friendly.
I know my comments are not a surprise to anyone who's played here this week.
Worth the Trip
Nice course that plays tougher than it looks. Friendly staff throughout and well laid out course. Would have rated it higher but grass definitely needed mowing; we were losing balls in the deep rough while only 3-5 feet off the fairway. Would play again.
Made the turn and immediately got approached by a starter that we were playing slow
Will never return to this place ever ever never ever ever again
SLOW and I'm not even that good.
Not worth the price.
took about 4:45 hours to finish the round with three people
Bunker Clean-up
The pace of play was okay but there was a group that was a hole behind. If you are going to have starters/rangers, they need to tell groups to pick up the play. The bunkers need work on and to remove all the little rocks in them. Ended up with a chip mark on my brand new wedge from hitting a shot out of the bunker. For the price that you pay for the course, would expect the bunkers to be clean. Fairways and greens were in good shape. Just wish people would fix their ball marks on the green.
A few more improvements and it should be worth it
The layout is still being affected by the course improvement project, and hole closures weren't clearly marked other than a few cones on the path. Bunkers need serious work and many are unplayable. Greens were just ok, inconsistent. The strangest thing is the new parking area is way too far from the cart barn. The tennis facility is basically taking over this place.
Great Course
One of the nicer public courses in the area! Greens are nice to putt on, very well maintained.
Much improved
This course is much improved over its conditions five years or so ago.
Grizzly making progress
The course is in pretty good shape. They still have the four holes closed, but looks like that will change soon. The four Academy holes are easier than the regular ones so I look forward to getting the regular holes opened.
The staff is always good, including the starters.
I will play the course quite a few times this summer.
Good and bad
Overall great course, wish they had the holes completed sucks it’s been over a year!
Just messes with the flow of the course, academy course for 4 holes works but it just doesn’t follow gps and scorecard on gps screen. Only complaint about the course was the bunkers were horrible shape, rocks and dirt!
Two big scars on my sand wedge now!
For the price they charge you would think everything perfect for 70$!!
I would be 50$ maybe not quite up to standards that’s for sure!
Good to be back on the Grizzly
We ad a good round yesterday and the course overall looks pretty good. Some 'ground under repair' in places where they have taken out a bunker or other thing, like a tree. The four holes are still under construction so you play 4 of the Academy holes.
While they have red tee markers they still look an afterthought. Instead of just dropping them in the fairway why can't you create a tee box?
