This is a jewel of a course
Situated in the middle of farm country this course has everything any player wants in a course. Long and short par 3's,4's and 5's. And undulating greens
Very Nice
Excellent course w/ a variety of nice holes. Love the layout. Highly recommend.
Horrible customer service
After I booked my round through Golfnow I received an email from the course offering a free lunch (hot dog, chips and coke) after my round. When I asked for my hot dog they said it did not apply to Golfnow bookings. I know it was only a hot dog, but it shows how they treat their customers.
hawks nest
it was in good shape. my only complaint is slow play. it is always 4 n ahalf hour plus for around. I know that when I make the tee time and im alright with it.
Great staff to help solve a pace of play conflict
This is a great course and still in great condition at this time of the year. After making the turn in 1:45, I had three groups in front of me. I went on to play the next THREE HOLE IN AN HOUR! I called the pro shop to try and get a ranger but they simply wouldn't go out and do anything. Instead he gave me the option of giving a rain check for 9 holes which I gladly accepted. Overall great course and staff, but need to have the ranger go around to get the hackers out of the way for faster players.
Fun Course in Great Condition
I always love to make the trip to play Hawks Nest, and Ohio State's ATI has done a great job with conditioning; beautiful greens, and I say that not just because I made a mile-of-putts. It is a fun course, with blind/target shots required, but the greens are most impressive. I played on a very windy afternoon, and wish all the holes played down-wind (but of course they didn't). The staff is very friendly, and the Pro -Chris McCormack -- has been there for probably total existence of the course. The other thing I really enjoyed on this day was a Birthday Beer after the round (not sold while owned by the Hawkins family). Play this course this year!
Always play Hawks Nest when i visit...
I always make my way out to Hawks Nest when I visit Ohio. Love that each hole is an individual hole &Love the shape of the course.
The Titleist was flying at Hawks Nest
Its been a while since I last played Hawks Nest, and I would say Ohio State's ATI is doing a great job. Course conditions, especially the fast greens, are great. The afternoon was very hot & windy, which led to a few wayward shots, but this is just such a fun course, with the rolling terrain & contours. I had a couple of DbleBogies, but not the fault of the course. The Pro -Chris & all staff are very friendly, and it was totally enjoyable to have a BirthDay beer at the end of the round.
Every hole is unique
The course has 18 looks, from links to tree line to valley types of looks, the distance for each hole is good for advanced players.
keep it in the fairway
WOW. THE ROUGH, ESPECIALLY THE WILD GRASS IS VERY WELL DEVELOPED AND WILL SWALLOW UP A MISHIT GOLF BALL. COURSE IS IN GREAT SHAPE. GREENS ARE FAIR. VERY NICE COURSE.
Great Value
I have played this course many times over the years and every time I'm always pleased with the quality of this course for it's value.
Interesting layout. No two holes alikes.
Greens were just airated, but putting was okay. Nice elevation changes on many holes. Very interesting layout.
Another great, but little known, course
This course is in great shape, for mid September. Greens remain very slick, with many ridges to negotiate. Once away from the clubhouse, this course becomes rolling, with several ravines and target shots necessary.
Pace of play was excellent, less than 3 hours to play 18 holes. Thanks again to golfnow, for offering discounted rates on thousands of courses. This gives people the opportunity to play various courses, at reasonable rates.
My new favorite course!
Fantastic course in excellent condition. Beautiful rolling hills , challenging scenic holes loaded with mature trees. super slick greens with subtle nuances made things tricky. Not incredibly long, which made it more fun for me. I look forward to playing again
Great Greens In Creston
Wonderful Greens on this gem out in the country. Well maintained by the staff. A few goofy holes but after playing the course several times, you'll discover the strategies. Most holes are straightforward, however. Great value! Very pretty surroundings!
THIS COURSE HAS SEVERAL HOLES THAT REQUIRE PLACEMENT OF TEE SHOTS.
THIS IS A FUN COURSE TO PLAY AS IT REQUIRES YOU TO PLACE YOUR SHOTS PROPERLY FOR THE PROPER APPROACHES TO THE GREENS THAT ARE ALSO SOMEWHAT UNDULATING AND LARGE OVERALL. GREENS ALWAYS HOLD WHEN HIT. SINCE MY LAST VISIT THE NINES HAVE BEEN REVERSED AND I BELIEVE IT HAS HELPED WITH THE PROPER FLOW OF THE COURSE.
This course is very fair and maintained
You will use all the clubs in your bag . Staff very friendly and cordial. 55 minutes away for me but I will be back again
Best Value Out There!
I've played on dozens of courses thru the years in 7 different states and this course is my favorite mostly due to the wide variety of "styles" of holes. On some holes you feel like you are on a flat, wide open, links course and on others you experience the thrill of threading your shots thru the woods and over the hills and valleys. Also, there are a couple of unique holes like the one with the green way below the fairway (blind shot), and the short par-4 with the green way below the T box that just begs you to try and drive it (under 300 yards but there is a little stream and traps in front).
The course is always in top-notch shape and you can play fast if you are the first in line (under 2 hours for 18). As a bonus, it's incredibly affordable.
Nice course just wish it was a little closer to home
I played this course and it took me almost an hour and a half to get there and when I did it was like a hidden gem in the middle of the cornfields. Really nice course and in great condition. It was a little bit easy especially for my first time playing it next time I will be playing the tips.
Do they serve beer/alcohol? It's been a few years since I've been there but they didn't serve at that time.
You saved good money using golf now and the club didn't make as much money. Spring the $3.00 for the hot dog!!!! Life's too short to be upset about that!
