Wedgwood Country Club
About
Wedgewood Country Club in Turnersville is one of the most popular public golf courses in the Tri-State area. It offers an upscale atmosphere with a traditional layout that pays homage to Philadelphia's most prestigious and renowned private courses. The course is like playing two in one with a front nine that is spacious and open while the back nine is much tighter and more heavily tree lined. The entire Wedgewood layout sprawls across gentle undulating terrain, providing subtle breaks throughout that will test your skills. There are two holes that are particularly memorable, the 13th, one of the toughest par 4s in the area, and the 17th, a tough par 5. The 13th is a lengthy par 4 that requires a second shot over water with a long club to a difficult target. Wedgewood Country Club's penultimate hole demands accuracy with an uphill drive through a chute.

Golf Carts
Wedgewood is a challenging course and my negative review has nothing to do with the course. The golf cart absolutely ruined the round for me. Multiple times my cart started a countdown to be "locked" if I didn't return to a certain area of the course. I wasn't able to look for my ball in areas of the course that normally I would be able to go because the countdown threat would start. There were times I was actually on the cart path and the countdown started. I didn't even finish the 18th hole because at this point I was fed up with the countdown threat. Also, there is no reason for the majority of the back 9 to be cart path only. Again, it's a nice course with challenging holes. But I won't be returning (and I know many others who feel the same) because of these obnoxious Golf Carts.
Avoid
This course is everything that is wrong with golf right now. The layout is quite nice. But everything except the greens was in below average condition. No sand in the bunkers. Bare spots everywhere. But thank goodness the course invested in GPS for their sputtering EZGo golf carts. That was it can just display a message that we’re behind pace instead of having marshals on the course to enforce pace of play. Not helping the pace are SIX holes on the back-nine that are permanently cart-path-only. Add in the starter questioning me, a 6 hdcp, for playing the blue tees as I’m standing over the ball on #1, and yeah, not an ideal weekend round.
And all this can be yours for the low low price of $84 for a weekend round.
To the course’s credit - the greens were immaculate. Firm and fast. But in perfect condition.
Pricey for what it is
The course is not in good shape, lots of weeds and brown spots, and the course is just littered with massive amounts of goose crap. They need to call goose chasers as it is just gross to walk and play in some areas of the course. Ironically, you cannot drive off of the golf path for most of the 18 holes, which slows the pace even further (holes are highlighted in yellow on the card so it must never change). In terms of people working the course, we saw one person on the first hole, that was it. Instead they have the most annoying golf carts in the world where they are telling you, you are in geo area while you are riding on the cart path, and they are going to shut down your cart. On top of that, the screen is consistently telling you, you are behind the pace meanwhile you are waiting for the group in front of you. Those golf carts made for a very annoying, unenjoyable experience. Not a good value for almost $90 per person, I would go almost anywhere else.

Great Customer Service
I really enjoyed the kindness of the guys in the pro shop. They were very welcoming and accommodating. However, on the other hand the course is pretty banged up, a lot of areas need to be mowed and the amount of geese is terrible. I highly recommend you get a course dog to alleviate that issue. The greens and fairways were ok, overall this would be a $40/$45 course, not $60+.
Owners really need to invest in the upkeep of the course, and an updated set of clubs for both left and right handed rentals would be great as well.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY
I will not be back to this course. Rocks in every sand trap, ruins your clubs, tee boxes are a mess but this course has the potential to be nice. The rough is a mix of hard ground and weeds.
Don’t Pay the 80 Dollar Green Fees
This is a 30 dollar course. Rocks in every sand trap, tee boxes a mess, goose poop everywhere. I cannot believe I spent 79 dollars on this place. I will never go back, this is prime season so conditions should be way better.
Noticing an Improvement
The conditions have been up and down over the years, but this was the best I've seen it in a long while. The greens have healed from aeration, fairways were in good shape as well. Good value for an afternoon round!
Nice course just needs a little TLC
We had a frost delay to begin with so we were jammed up for a couple holes but eventually got the spacing right. The greens were still bumpy from aeration. Some were better than others.
Once done we stopped at Divots and had some food. A very pleasant server made lunch enjoyable. We will be back but after the greens heal more.
Wedgewood
I have not played this course in years I think they need to clean up the roughs and over seed the fairways the greens are hard and not mush grass and the sand traps are ok.
Good bones, needs money
Lets be fair, a lot of the fixes this place needs will never happen unless someone buys it or wins the lottery.
The bad:
- All the bunkers need to be completely re-done, they don't drain, don't have a base and don't really have sand
- Need some serious tree trimming, as many are overhanging fairways. They're trying at least
- Rough is a variety of grasses, weed and sand, partially due to too many trees (grass can't grow).
- Minor annoyance but par 4's are basically all the same/similar length. Is what it is
The good:
- Fun 70's esque "hard" country club layout. Great bunkering though you can't really hit out of them without a beater wedge
- Variable length par 3's; you'll hit a different club into each.
- They're putting all of what money they have into greens and tees. Tees were in decent shape, greens were recently aerated and watered while I was there
- Great price on weekdays, $32 to walk
- Super nice guys in the pro shop
Have a soft spot for this place; they're definitely trying hard, but can only do so much. Worth a visit in off peak and you can always get a tee time (thus money issues) but temper expectations.
Could be better
Over all was OK some work needs to be done around the ground. Some torn up areas. Natural divots and ball marks not fixed but the is up to individual's.
Fun course
Found a great deal on golf now for $21 dollars on a Sunday AM! Lots of rain the day before course was in really good shape still water wasn’t really an issue. Greens are in really good shape coming out of the winter season.
