Ron Jaworski's RiverWinds Golf & Tennis Club

About
Ron Jaworski’s Riverwinds Golf & Tennis Club is situated along a scenic stretch of grassland between the banks of the Woodbury Creek and the deep harbor marina on the Delaware River. Its location gives it the feel of traditional seaside links courses found in Scotland and Ireland, which is further enforced by the sod-wall bunkers that lurk near the greens. The layout features plenty of water and incorporates the surrounding wetlands as well. One unique feature of the golf course is that the routing winds across a mile-long twisting burn, creating a visually interesting setting. Riverwinds begins with a gentle, mostly flat front nine but the mounding becomes more aggressive as you move onto the back. All of the holes face a different direction, which means you’ll most likely be using all the clubs in your bag to tackle the crosswinds and rugged terrain.

Now understand the name
Great course, understand now why it’s called river winds. Overall great place. After the lag on the first tee, no issue with pace of play at all. Great course conditions, good fast greens.
Mid-winter conditions
Course conditions for off-season play are he best in the area. Forget the typical thin lies and fairways that don't drain. This is the place to play on that warm winter day that we've seen so often this year.
Nice course
Very nice course. The only improvement I would like to see is on the cart paths. There are too many ruts and muddy areas because the path is too narrow. These certain areas could be widened by stones, laying six by sixes, or even asphalt. It would really improve the appearance of a very nice course.
Great as usual
Jaws and his staff are the best as usual. My favorite track in the area and played under 3 hours since we were basically the only idiots playing under 45 degrees and 15mph winds lol
Always A 5 when you Par 17!
Late fall round found the course in great shape, trimmed & a pleasure to play. Greens in good shape, running well.
Fall golf at its best.
Pace of play was on point. Course played as nice as ever. My only issue, and it is personal, is that the white tees are a little long for my game and i am not quite ready for the senior tees. Another set of tees around 6000 yards would be great. The wind did not help either.
Senior Round
First time and got great price via “ Hot Deals “ on Golf Now. Played the Gold Tees which are 20-100 yds ahead of White. Course condition was excellent including greens which rolled faster than appeared.
Caught a beautiful fall weather day. Had lunch at the near-by restaurant which has scenic views & good lunch.
WORTH THE DRIVE
One of my favorites. An hour away, but well worth the drive. Greens were just about perfect. Rough was a playable length. There are very few shots where you cannot see where you need to put the ball. They have also cleared out quite a few areas of junk to help speed up play.
Riverwinds
Great day to golf! Weather was fantastic, course in excellent shape. Pace of play was terrible.
Course has great challenges
The course is in very good condition and it’s 6,500 yards from the white tees so it’s challenging for average players. It has black tees that stretches the yardage over 7.2K for those long hitters. So it’s setup for different types of players. They do a good job on trying to keep foursomes moving so you can complete your round in less than 4.5 hours.
Great round
Jaws and his team have done great things with this course. Treat yourself and play.
Rebounding nicely
Course is always great. The greens are almost fully healed from aerating so when I go back next week I’m sure it will be back to one of the best public track shows close to center city
Got ripped off
I was just trying to sneak 9 holes in before the long weekend. Was charged $40 for 9 holes at 6:30 on a weekday. When I said I don't think that charge is right, the young kid behind the counter did not know what to do. I've played 18 holes there for the same price. Secondly, he the starters, guys at the carts failed to mention that the entire course had been aerated. Teeboxes , fairways, greens. Besides that, it was the worst shape I've seen it in a few years. Unable to hit any putts as the greens were sandy and freshly aerated. Will not go back here the rest of the year.
Wide fairways. Nice greens.
Great experience. Very friendly staff. Greens very fair and true. Sand very hard in few traps.fairways wide and good shape. Real good golf experience
Pace of play disaster
Living in Philly this is an easy convenient course to get to. I have been coming here for a few years now. Seems like the same time every year the course just gets into bad shape and pace of play just gets worse. Tee boxes were bad from whites, decent from blues. Pace of play was about 5 hours and 10 minutes for a Sunday afternoon round. The starters and rangers were nice, but weren't really doing anything about it. Looked like a lot of first time players were out there, but not keeping pace. Fairways and rough were in good shape.
Still a challenging course, but pace of play tee boxes and greens need to be in better shape to warrant the higher price point. I will be back but hoping for better pace of play and greens to be in better shape.
