Good Value/ Rough Conditions
Played this course 2 years ago and liked it so we decided to go back today. Still like the layout, but the greens and tees are struggling. Some tees were almost completely sand (and not from top dressing). Many of the greens were burnt out in spots. With all of the rain we have had I did not expect to see them in this bad of shape. Not sure if they were burned out due to disease or flooding. The staff is extremely pleasant and the rate that we payed was really good. The course was being worked on so it is not from a lack of abled bodies. Hoping they can get the tees and greens back to healthy.
You get what you pay for
$20 for 9 with a cart on a weekend is a great deal. Course is in decent shape. Greens are not the best. Carts are in good shape. Biggest problem is the bugs. There were so many bugs on every tee box, every fairway, in and around the bunkers and on the greens. I get it golf is outside. There’s trees. There’s brush. There will be bugs. This was terribly buggy. Enough to say that you get what you pay for.
Rock Hard Greens
Greens were very hard. Would not hold a shot to we’ll
A fun challenge
Course is very well kept has some challenging holes that were a nice change. Staff was courteous and nice golf cart was very clean.
Terrible condition
This golf course use to be a beautiful course but the owners sold it to the national cemetery and will be closing in a few years. Owners definitely don't care about the course anymore. Tee boxes are horrible late golfing conditions. Fairways and greens are in much better condition. I wouldn't recommend playing there.
Brutally slow round
5 hour rounds are not what I’m used to. No ranger and no control over slow play. Rough was crazy high and thick which may have been one of the reasons for delays. Greens were not taken care of. Full of ball marks and one green looked like Frankenstein with three 40 ft straight indentations running through it. Looked like a transplant gone wrong. The rest doesn’t matter when you’re waiting 5 minutes between shots on a Monday morning.
Horribly Maintained, Not Worth the Money
Not worth how much it cost. The fairways were horrifically maintained and the rough was something else. Staff was friendly, but the course was the worst I’ve ever played and I played at some pretty cheap places. Will never be returning to this course.
Course needs a lot of maintenance
This course apparently was once extremely nice. A lot of natural beauty surrounds the course. Tee boxes are in terrible shape with uneven and pitted turf. Fairways were covered with divots and clumps of mown grass. Adjacent roughs were covered with weeds, and old cut grass clippings and the rough was very high and needed to be cut. Greens were marginal at best, with many rough spots and ball marks. Sand bunkers had not been maintained and were in poor shape. Definitely a disappointment from what this course had once been per my golfing partner who had golfed here several times in the past.
It was a Rough One
Rough was to my shins. Fairways were to long in places for the fairway mowers to cut. Was just long and laid over. 3 days after it rained last too.. mabey short staffed who knows. Putting green was healing up from a disease and was 10x slower than the greens on course. Greens were in good shape. Moved away for 10 years just playing here for first time In about 12 years
Sad
I have played this course for forty yearsI has always been well maintained until the last couple of years. Now they have hit an all time low. Parts of the rough looks like it has not been mowed yet this year. The price seem very attractive but about the third hole you realize it is not such a good deal, because if you stray from the fairway you only have about a 50/50 chance of finding your ball. Some of the fairways are so bad they look like they were cut with a sickle not a mower. The fairways now have patches of different types of grass all growing at a different rate. There are too many bare spots in the fairways. and nothing has been done to improve this. On many of the tees it is difficult to get good footing because of all of the divots. I an guessing the tee markers have not been moved this year. The greens were in better shape and most rolled true. There is one green that was gouged down the center of the green by a mower. you now have three little troughs going the entire length of the green. A few more greens were not properly filled after being aerated last fall and they still have 1/2 inch holes across those greens. This is so sad to see this happen to a course that not too long ago was very nice and used to be pristine.
Not in great shape
The rough looked like it hadn’t been cut all year which slowed pace of play down significantly. Miss the fairway and you’ll spend 10 minutes looking for your ball.
Greens were in bad shape and looked like they had been aerated recently. They didn’t roll smooth and one even had what looked like hydraulic line damage.
Really disappointed that I paid peak season pricing for what looked like an off season course. I won’t be going back.
Oh yeah, don’t forget to wear a collared shirt. They apparently care more about how their golfers look rather than how good of shape the course is in.
BAD SHAPE!
The course was in horrible shape, particularly the fairways. The worst I have ever seen it in the spring,. Takeover by the cemetery must be imminent.
