Raintree has its charm even in the damp of spring
Spring rains have created a green sward that shines beneath Akron, OH. When flying into or around Notheast OH, it seems to be an Emerald in the heat of summer browns and pale greens. It is a course that can challenge an expert, but not overwhelm a novice. Always a pleasure to play Raintree.
Wet Boii
Only reason 3 stars for conditions is due to how wet it was from storms days leading up to playing. Mid summer it’s 4-5 stars
Misinformation
Booked teetime here through GolfNow. Was for 1-2 for 18 holes + cart. Arrived at course to check in and was advised no carts, walk only. Told starter this and he told us it shouldn't say that and he was going to contact them to fix. My friend and I had a decision to make. Play the round with our cart bags which aren't ideal for a walking round, or not play and attempt to to find a course that allowed carts to make our round easier, and deal with GolfNow on trying to get refund. We decided to tough it out and play. We unloaded everything unessential and hit away. We could only play 9 since back was closed, which bummed us, because the back is our favorite. They did tell us that they would let us make turn on front 9 again ahead of scheduled tee times, but course was busy with groups waiting and felt that would be unfair, plus we knew pace of play would be longer than first 9. We did enjoy ourselves during our 9 hole round, but didn't get the experience we were expecting. If we had known it was walk only and only front 9 was playable, we would've booked somewhere else. This experience won't prevent us from playing there again, but disappointment was still there. I don't book tee times on GolfNow that much, but will be hesitant on doing so in future, especially when you have to prepay. I will say that the exercise did us good, but will never walk a round with a cart bag again, hence called "cart" bag.
Great Fall Golf
Fun round of golf with great pace of play!. Leaves were not an issue today. Greens were the only problem, but it’s fall... what are you gonna do.
Great time
A friend and I played 18 holes at this course on a chilly day in the middle of the week late in October. Leaves were falling like crazy, but the course staff were out working hard to clear the fairways and greens. The course was still in good shape, except for the greens which were recently aerated. There were small piles of sand here and there on the greens that made it difficult to putt consistently, but we still had a good time. All in all we had fun. Pace of play was good.
It’s a joke
Horrible experience. Sprinklers were coming on in the fairways and around the greens at 11 am on a Friday. Then, they put 2 foursomes of women off in front of us as we were making the turn on the back. Had to wait 10 minutes in between shots. We finally walked off the course after hole no. 12. Went into the club house to ask why they would send groups off in front of us on the back 9. We were told to just go get in line! Will never go back!
Raintree 9-6-19
Pace is pretty slow, could use a little discipline (marshal) on the course.
Why did I play this course
They were mowing the greens while we were trying to play. This caused a huge backup with 3 to 4 groups waiting on the tees. They were also blowing the grass off the fairways during play. Very difficult to hit a ball with a tractor in the fairways going back and forth. The greens were bad where people didn’t fix their divots. The course’s dress code wasn’t being enforced.
Where’s the Ranger ??????
Tee time was at 12:20 and just walked off the course at 5:40. Unacceptable for a Friday. No ranger to be found. A 5 some 2 groups ahead of us was the culprit. This used to be my favorite course but the drainage and pace of play will drive me to another course
Decent course
Nice course to play. Got it on groupgolfer deal. I think only one spot on the course was a little wet. Some other spots need to have dirt filled in to level it out though. I would play this course again.
S-L-O-W!
This was the first 5 hour round I have played in a long time. There were several 5-somes out on the course today. Very slow day.
Above average course
I play here often, so I know the times to avoid for slow play. Tee time 124, a twosome was told to tee off at 134 because they had no tee time. I get off the range and see they are two holes ahead and a hole behind already. Resulted in a slower day because it held up a few groups but finished in 4.5 hours. Layout is great, opportunity for scoring. Conditions were decent considering the rain recently in NE Ohio. Be advised many places on this course do not drain well, I do see some drain work being done on a few holes. Price for my dad and I walking and small bucket is really unbeatable comparable to other courses in the Akron area. Not the best but normally a reliable place to play.
5-HOUR ROUND!
Raintree sells a tee-time that is only 8 minutes after a golf outing's (scramble) last tee time. So, we waited on the first tee and waited on every shot for 5 hours. I complained at the turn twice then turned in my frequent player card. There was no ranger and even after registering the complaints nothing was done to move the outing along.
It was nice to make the turn and then watch 7 members of the golf outing stuff their faces with food instead of moving their outing along. When the outing's last 3-some finally teed off on #10 there were 3 groups waiting to tee off.
Somebody at that course should lose their job.
