Winter Play
Surrey Hills is making course repairs, and ownership needs to make more repairs as weather permits. The course can be a challenge. Staff was friendly.
would not recommend
The course was in bad shape, the greens were very bumpy and had lots of bald spots. The tee boxes and fairways had issues too. There were some holes where it was difficult for a first-time player to figure the layout of the hole. All in all, not a course I would recommend until it's in better shape.
Room for improvement
The course layout is the best thing this course has going for it. It's a great layout, difficult but fair. The fairways need work. Very dry and cracked. Greens are okay.
Improvements Needed
The Pro Shop staff were courteous. The course needs work but the current staff are trying to make improvements with limited resources. Tee boxes definitely need work. A need for a Marshall was evident as play was extremely slow.
would not recommend
Sadly, the course was not in good shape. the tee boxes and greens were in very poor condition - sometimes hard to find a good spot for the tee and all the greens were very bumpy. There were a few funky holes IMHO; as first time players, we weren't really sure where the green was, and there was no GPS in the carts to help us, or course diagrams on the scorecard, the only clue was on the tee box signs and they weren't that much help. Overall, I would not recommend this course at this time due to playing conditions.
old mature layout. Plays long on the front 9.
the rough was in better shape than the fairways! greens were bubby. on smooth roll. the course definitely needs a lot of work.
Lives up to the poor reviews
The course has potential and always has. The staff is friendly and that’s the only compliment I can give. At over $45 per person this puts it over the price point of the municipal courses and you get lousy practice facilities and a course that is just shy of a cow pasture. Tee boxes are rough, fairways are rough, greens are a less than good, sand traps are dirt traps, and there are really no yardage markers to speak of. The Friday we went tee times are booked every 10 minutes so pace of play was slow. Living on the NW side of town we are limited on public courses and I will go out of my way to play elsewhere to play a course that fits the price point.
Not bad, not great
Greens were in rough shape. Fairways were hit and miss (much like my game). Some signage was confusing or missing. I couldn't tell where hole 1 was until I asked.
gesh
Course is in terrible condition. Fairways are awful, about half the tee boxes require a hammer, and the greens are bumpy.
Surrey Hills
Overall a great experience. Decently challenging course. The layout gets confusing sometimes when navigating from hole to hole. Par 5 18 i got lost and I still don’t know where the green was. Had a great time and the course conditions were well above avg. would definitely play again.
Course not is not maintained well, especially majority of the greens are in poor condition.
First Time to play
This was my first time to play the course and I was generally pleased. The layout was challenging, yet forgiving. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
The only knock was that the greens need to be mowed and the holes need to be moved - just a bit fuzzy in both cases.
I’ll go try it again soon.
Great Value and go to daily course
To me this is one of the best values of play in OKC. You can find good deals on golf now and very close to where I live. They have been trying to make improvements for a while and slowly but surely it is getting there. Is it the best most prestigious course you are going to play? I hope not. But dollar for dollar, staff friendliness, and just a good overall round with some challenges for most avg golfer, mostly good pace of play and forgiveness to the novice or avid golfer, this is one of my go to spots
Lost the greens
Surrey Hill is easy to get on and when you get to the first green you will know why. Absolutely terrible. I’m sure the team there is trying to improve th3 course but am curious of when can it be expected. I can refer a friend with the caution of expectations that putting will be difficult to no fun.
