Oregon City Golf Club

About
Oregon City Golf Club was originally built in 1922 as a nine-hole course. In 1960, the second nine was added bringing the total yardage to 5,940. It had no sand traps but did contain plenty of trees and rolling fairways.
Today, the course has been updated with sand traps on most holes, water on three, and the same rolling fairways and trees that have grown significantly larger. The drainage is excellent which makes it an outstanding winter course. A new clubhouse was completed in 1997 which provides all the amenities a golfer could need; including a fully stocked pro-shop, snack bar, 2,400 ft. banquet facility, putting green, and a large outside deck for your pre or post round refreshments.

Perfection
Every aspect of the course is in its prime shape! Greens were smooth, a bit slow in the morning but rolled great. Every thing was just perfect!
Unfriendly Staff
We didn’t have high expectations for the course as you get what you pay for. However, you still expect good customer service. The day started out with them not having enough carts for us and they weren’t very sympathetic or accommodating at all. Then even though we were not holding anyone up, they were rude when we were slightly behind pace of play. Ultimately customer service was lackluster at best.
Pace of play
Always very friendly, pace of play is very slow. Course is in good conditions. For $50+ I don't think the value is there.
Goat track doesn’t do this place justice
This course is very obviously broke and very poorly managed…you have to call ahead to “reserve” a golf cart because they don’t have enough carts.
The course is very poorly maintained, the fairways are undefined from the rough, basically the same length as the rough. Most of the rough and fairway are more wild flowers than actual grass.
The greens have never been aerated which makes them very spongy and bumpy.
The tee boxes are so uneven and sparsely covered in grass it’s more like hitting out of a bunker than a tee box.
It’s the same hole copy and pasted
I felt that as I played this course, it was the same straight par 4 with trees lining it the entire time. There was a par 3 that was downhill and a few dog leg holes, but those were the only ones that were different than what I mentioned before. I personally would not play this course again, unless I could play 18 holes for less than $15, otherwise there are several other courses I would pay equal if not more to play before I went the distance to go to this course.
Beautiful and fun course
This was my first time playing this course and I loved it. The course pamphlet guided me through each of the holes and course was challenging but not too difficult. Pace of play was perfect. The only thing really lacking is good options. Unless you’re a hot dog person.
Great locals course
Great tried and true course. A treasure. Hope it stays chill and unchanged
The owner is a Douche Bag!!!
I have played at this course a handful of times. The staff and OWNER are the must rudest golf course administrator I have ever played at. Mind you I have played at very many courses from Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California, Nevada and Arizona.I have never encountered a business like this one that are absolutely unprofessional and inconsiderate of a paying customer. I encountered a bad experience last year, which I gave a bad review on. I felt that I would try to play there one more time and see if I could amend and start over. The owner said I was never invited and could never come back to that golf course ever again because of my bad review. I had just driven an hour to get there to have to turn around and come back home. This is a perfect example of white privilege. I have ever encountered!!!!!!
Getting better all the time!
The course is shaping up for a great year ahead. Still wet greens but getting better with the warmer weather. Attention should be given,to the cute little white flowered weeds starting to spread around or change away from a white ball! I’ll be back.
Decent course if you’re in the area
Played with a friend- both of us for the first time at this course. Requested a cart- told we needed to pre-reserve due to a small # available. They had them pre-parked in front of the clubhouse the entire day, but it was totally walkable, so no big deal.
The fairways were pretty decent for early season conditions- only issue was a lot of white flowers (some kind of weed, most likely) that made finding golf ball a little more challenging. Also- driving range has no net- right next to 10th fairway. A lot of loose balls around. If you pull to the left, good luck. Probably better to take a drop vs risk getting pelted by a ball on the range.
Worst problem, however, was the greens. Super, super soggy. I mean like it had rained for 3 weeks straight soggy. Only thing was that it hadn’t rained for a week and temps had been ~70 for a few days. Clearly they were watering them. Why?
Positives are that the staff was super friendly and prices in the grill were quite fair. If I lived in the area I’d go again, but it was about a 40 minute drive for me. Not worth the drive, but a decent place for locals.
Pushing the season
Warm air does not a perfect golf course make. The greens were very wet and bumpy. The fairways haven't had the care they need yet.
Would I be back tomorrow....absolutely!
Hit the OCGC!
There are a couple of assets you can count on without exception at the OCGC.
First is a fun, somewhat challenging course that is accessible for modest to high handicappers. Can’t speak for scratch golfers because I am far from one of them! Modest length on many par 4a, but with other hazards sprinkled in makes a fun course.
Second is service. The team at OCGC from the clubhouse to the course staff are always friendly, welcoming and helpful.
New to this visit was my first experience driving their all electric carts. Nice. Smooth drive with good pickup. Quiet.
My only take in mid-February was the greens were super spongy. Perfectly fine for holding approach shots. But the pace and roll on the greens was uneven. Like with footprints and standing water wet. Somewhat surprising because the fairways and rough, while also damp, were not too muddy.
Once coming around to the reality of thr greens, no problem. Remains a great value and seasoned gem in the heart of Clackamas County. Much fun. Will be back throughout spring and summer.
Greens still mushy
Greens are still very wet and mushy due to all the rain. The rest of the course is pretty good except for a few soggy spots but only had a few plugged balls in the fairway.
