About
Apollo Elks Country Club, situated just northeast of Pittsburgh, is considered one of the area's must-play golf courses. It has appeal for a wide range of skill levels with a layout that is challenging enough for seasoned golfers but also not too difficult for beginners to approach. There is an interesting mix of holes ranging from reachable par 5s to short, tough par 3s and each hole has a distinct character. The greens are fast and the gently rolling terrain provides some subtle breaks that can be tricky. Bunkering is sparsely but strategically placed along the fairways and greensides. There are also a few water hazards that come into play at Apollo Elks Country Club. The round has plenty to hold your attention but don't forget to stop and admire the beautiful western Pennsylvania scenery.

Very good golf course with only one problem
I liked everything about the course it was very well maintained, fairways, greens, bunkers and the T boxes. My only complaint I have about the course is the cart paths are very rough with a lot of bumps and tree roots which is hard on your body even when you're going relatively slow on the path. If it wasn't for that I would give the golf course a five-star rating. Overall excellent course with a very fair price.
Decent course
I’ve golfed here before. For the money it’s ok. Had a bad experience where group behind us hit my partner with a ball. Needless to say he was upset and yelled which prompted one of them to ride up to me and instead of apologizing which would have been the appropriate response proceeded to threaten me. Told me he worked there and could throw us off the course. Needless to say that pretty much so ruined the rest of the round.
Beautiful greens
Greens were in great shape. Fairways were average at best. Cart paths were pathetic! Golf carts were filthy. But I still enjoy playing this course because of the greens!
Great course!
I am usually playing as a single during the week! I book through golf now to get good deals! Today I got paired up with the nicest twosome! Bob and Mark! Everyone I run into on the course is always so nice and the employees are too!!! Also, the pace of play is really good. The course is in great shape! Beautiful greens and everyone seems to fix their ball marks which is a plus!! I will definitely be coming back!
Better the 2nd time
Even though I played here earlier this summer, I could only recall one hole (the first) as I played again for the 2nd time. Like other reviewers, I found the cart paths to be treacherous, so I got out and walked at every opportunity. The fairways and greens were in pretty decent shape, considering the local weather these past few weeks. I did find some of the holes more memorable this time around. Saw a few deer, a fox, a blacksnake during the round. A pleasant place to play, and not too challenging for the friend I brought along. More open on the front 9, a bit tighter on the back 9.
applo elks
great greens nice fairways, cart path not so good, be sure cart is included with payment cause for a long time not included.
Pretty nice course
Well manicured around the greens. Grass was in nice condition. Recent hard rains had some areas soft and paths washed out, that’s understandable at this time. Carts need to be replaced, no windshields or rain protection on back.
Nice Course, need 4x4 Golf Carts!
Course is in nice shape; fairways green…plenty of rain this summer. Greens were in good shape too, couple rough spots. Cart paths and driveway in and parking lot pretty rough…gooo sloww!
SUNDAY GOLF
first 3 holes had wet spot thru the fairway
after that course was fine.
Course condition
Kart paths are so rough that you can’t drive on them Pace of play way too slow golfers with no etiquette.
Not enough carts
Tee time was at noon. No carts available had at least a one hour wait for cart
Great layout
The course has a great layout and should not be judged by the parking lot.
