Easily the best forgotten course in Poconos
This really is the hidden gem of the Poconos. Most of the courses south of Buck Hill get the publicity but this historic Donald Ross course (Blue/White) is better than all but Jack Frost and Great Bear. It is similar to Shawnee (historic Tillinghast design) but with better views and more interesting holes.
I'm a stickler for conditions and while Buck Hill might not have the resources to be "pristine" they do a darn good job overall. This course a loyal local membership base that makes sure it's well kept. Even the red nine is nice.
If you're ever in the area play it. It's a better kept, more enticing layout than Skytop which is right up the road. It's also a far better design than Mt Airy. There's not many opportunities in the country to play a true Donald Ross layout for about $60. That alone makes Buck Hill is must play Poconos course.
Course is a gen
Love Donald Ross and found Buck Hill years ago. I play at least 5 times a year. I am never disappointed playing any of the 18 hole configurations scheduled amongst the 27 holes. Robert White designed the first 9 holes before Donald built another 18 in 1922. View are spectacular and course is pristine.
Great course, great staff.
Enjoyable course but play was slow due to other groups. Needs player assistant carts to ask players to move along at a better pace.
