I've lived most of my life close to Hiland and have played there for years. It has always been owned and operated by the same family who take pride in giving the customer a pleasant experience at a fair price. The staff is friendly and top notch and they have a nice bar and food to enjoy after your round. The course is always in nice condition and fair for any level of golfer
Great course. Well maintained in amazing shape for early in the season! Will return
nice course
very nice course, challenging but not difficult. was in very nice condition for the beginning of April. pace of play was good and the parking lot was full on a non league day.
Green Fairways
Course is in good shape. Greens are really nice. Busy for this time of year which is good for golf.
highland golf course
The course was in good shape for this time of the year. Only complaint was we had a couple of young adults (20-30 years old) decided to cut across the fairway and skip 2 holes. This caused a tie up and no ranger this early in the year, Found out they came late and started on 10.
Good value
The course is decent for the value. Back 9 nicer than front. Front is a little short and is easier. I play this course every once in a while.
No grass
the whole entire course is patches of grass. I paid $10 to play 18 I honestly wouldn't even pay that again.
Not what expected
First time on course. Price was great as a hot deal on golf now....
Course, not so much.
Fairways with some grass, lots of dirt.
Greens were ok, layout was ok
They were irrigating the back nine, so I had to play the front nine twice
No problem, understand, but course is in fair to poor shape
Not even worth the hot deal price
This course had glowing reviews, but we found it to be one of the worst we ever played. Finding grass on the tee boxes and in the fairways was a challenge as both were severely burned out. Pace of play was also an issue. We left after eight holes because the group in front was very slow. As one took his three practice swings before rolling the ball 20 yards the other three all waited patiently for their turn to roll one. Pack a lunch if you plan to play this goat pasture
Worthy of a hot deal only
This course wasn't worth the travel time. About an hour from Pittsburgh. I guess if you live in the Butler area and it's close the course is a much better value.
There are a few good holes and the greens were in fantastic shape. They have some difficult holes for being only a par 70. There is a 600 yard par 5 and 2 par 3's over 230 yards. Dont be to intimidated there are plenty of short holes that allow you to make up strokes.
The rest of the course had plenty to be desired. The tee box sand fairways were in terrible shape. You are better of playing out of the rough.
Like the course
The tee box and greens were well maintained. However, fairways and rouges need some work.
Very challenging par 3s and short but tough par 4s
Really liked me experience there
Hiland
Got a hot deal for $12 which was a great deal for this course. Booked a twosome and one single at different tee times to take advantage of the hot deal. The staff was very friendly and let us all three play together. The course was in decent shape, could definitely tell it is hurting from the dry summer, but it wasn't much of an issue. The course is very spread out which is pretty cool. Some crazy long par 3s, one of them is about 240 yards with a house directly behind the green with no protection. Would play this course again, but probably only with a hot deal.
Nice course, very friendly staff.
Nice layout, greens in great shape. Pace was only average because 3 some in front of us chatting on every tee box and hovered over every putt.
Nice scorable course
Enjoyable to play and never have had a bad pace of play here I will continue coming back
July 17 Hiland
The course was in good shape the pace of play was steady. Good value for the price.
Pleasantly Surprised
Played Hiland for first time today and it was a pleasant round. The course is relatively short from the white tees but hilly as it's name suggests. Tree lined fairways on the hilly terrain put a premium on good drives. 3 of the 4 par threes are long. The course was in good condition even with the lack of rain and I liked the way the fairways were cut to clearly define them. The greens were great. The course has a couple of blind shots that you should look at the first time you play. I will play it again. Enjoyed a cold beer after the round.
Nice course and good condition
The course has a variety of hole lengths, some short par 4's and some fairly long par 4's (especially Hole #18), additionally it has 2 extremely long par 3's both around 225 yards in length from the white tees which make them vary challenging. The course was in good condition fairways cut with a nice definition from the rough and the green were in nice shape, with a good pace of roll while putting. Overall, it was a good experience, it was not too crowded and the pace of play was very good, I was playing as a single and finished 18 holes in around 3 hours.
Better every year
Have played here for many years but less frequently in the past several years (joined private club). The course has consistently improved and is in exceptional condition.
The fairways were tight but green and the greens rolled at about a 9 and we're very true.
Great value.
