Okay course, rude staff
The course layout is somewhat confusing, and the greens are extremely fast. Played my best round of golf today though, so it was an okay time. But we stopped at the turn to eat, and spend around 60 bucks for okay food, and extremely rude staff. They are either just awkward or plain rude, especially the lady making the food. Now I know why everyone complaines about the staff. Would've been an good time if it weren't for the rude food lady.
Good value course
Greens are well kept as are tee boxes. The cart path is absolutely brutal, should give you a 4-wheel cart. Penalty areas are not great either. Overall for the cost is a good course.
An enjoyable day...
I found the course to be the best in the area, so far this year. The tee boxes were acceptable, the fairways were mowed, and the greens were manicured. The only shortcomings were the bunkers that showed neglect and the cart pathed that we’re in need of repair. Well worth my time and money...thank you for a great round!
Nice
It was nice for the time of the yr and the amt. of rain we have got; would play again. The cart paths are bumpy as previously mentioned, but the staff was nice and the course played nice.
Poor sand traps and cart paths
Course playing surface is in decent shape for all of the rain this area has recently had. Bunkers have not faired as well tho. They were hard packed sand and some were full of water. Hard to find a course in Allegheny County that have sand traps that are playable. Also, the cart paths are nearly nonexistent and looked to be untouched in a long time. Stay in the grass!
Hard as a Rock
The holes themselves are fun to play, but the ground was rock hard, even in the fairways. Much of the grass was burned out, and the tee boxes were all destroyed by divots.
Cow pasture with nice greens
I don't like the course, though it has potential. The greens are fast, but don't hold.
Most pin placements lead to putts that roll off the green if they don't go in, no matter how gentle the strike. The cart paths are ridiculously rough.
Always a great time!
Always a good time here the staff is very friendly the course is always in great shape.
great course
I would have given it 5 stars for everything, but the cart paths need some work.
Course is in the greatest condition I've ever seen
I've been playing Victory Hills for many years now, including back when it was called Seven Spings. The course has always been well maintained and a lot of fun but we played it twice this past weekend and everything - tees, fairways, greens were absolutely perfect. If you haven't played this hidden gem, make time to do so. It's worth it!
Starter not friendly and plenty of 5somes
First let me start of by saying I was playing by myself. The starter rushed me off the tee box 8 minutes before my tee time, which I normally like to go off early if possible. He said there we a couple foursomes coming behind me and didn't want to get backed up. Ok, I understand that and was happy to tee off. Only for me to run into a 5some at the second hole which I had to wait but they let me through on the 3rd hole. To catch up with a 3some walking and then a foursome and to run into a 5some and then another 5some which wouldn't let me play through. I just dont understand why he was so adamant about rushing me off only to run into all the groups in front of me. 5somes should not be playing let alone 3 of them. Poor management or should I say, "POOR STARTER!"
Great maintenance.
Very early in the year and all we've had is rain and snow I was very impressed at how good the course looked! great day!
Victory Hills
The staff of Victory Hills are always very friendly and accommodating. The course needs some work, especially on cart paths and sand traps. The rates are fair and the food at the restaurant is good. I have been playing there for several years and will continue to do so.
Great Year Round Public Golf
Victory Hills is one of Southwestern Pennsylvania's best year round public courses!
Tight fairways and smallish fast (sometimes very) greens, will hurt your scoring with errant shots. It's not long but often plays that way when it's wet and windy. Traps and grass bunkers guard the sloped greens. A down hill putt on 3 of the first 4 holes and # 11 often turn birdies into scrambled bogies or worse.
All and all a fun fair test for most all skill levels. Kids First Tee's were added in 2017.
Downsides; Sand Traps in the off season and in rainy stretches can be unplayable. Cart paths need some TLC, but paths are limited to most areas near greens and tee boxes.
Great private layout for outings and traveling groups. Weekend play in season, Tee Times are a must. Go play you will like it.
Great practice facility; Range, large putting green and also a sand and chipping green. Exelent friendly staff. Good home cooked breakfasts lunch and full bar daily!
bumpy ride
It's a shame that there can't be an effort made to improve the cart paths at this course. It's understandable that this is an expensive job however if three or four holes a year were redone it eventually would be completed. The greens & fairways are great. The leaves are almost all cleared away. The sand traps need work but with the leaves being a full time task their condition is understandable.
