CHALLENGING
Tough course due to sloping fairways and greens. Greens and fairways in really good shape
Interesting course
Some challenging holes. Tee boxes and greens were in very good condition. Fairways and rough not as good due to the current drought in our area. Cart paths are in poor condition, but staff advised the cart paths will be removed.. Very friendly staff and patrons. Will play again.
Thank you Condorll for your review as we appreciate your feedback. We continually strive to meet your expectations with course conditions and hope you will continue to play at Victory Hills again and again!
Nice day.
Overall the course was in great shape. The cart paths do need a lot of work and redone. Overall a great day..f
Thank you for the great review of the course, Gstouffer! We appreciate the note on the cart paths as many golfers have noted. We will continue to work to get better and hope you will join us again soon for another round!
Great front nine
The staff at this course are great people! The front nine are challenging and fun to play. When you get to the back nine it gets congested because of the up and down set up of the holes. It takes time because someone is always playing in your fairway or vice versa. I must say it is a nice local course and a bargain for the price that you can get on the golf now app. I have played 18 hole rounds here for 15 dollars. All and all its a good place to play.
Thank you for your great review of the course layout! We are glad you find the front to be challenging but still fun, and the staff is very appreciative of your kind words. We hope to have you back soon!
The greens are nice!
Greens were in great shape! I played by myself, started before a large group, only had to play through one group then took my time. There were a couple of times I questioned which green I was aiming towards as well as where the actual fairway was. I still shot better than my usual, but wonder how my score would have been without these things. Cart paths were as bad as I read in previous reviews. Overall, the course layout was nice, they definitely had some angles to the greens to make it challenging, even though distance wise the course is not challenging (fine by me). The only negative course layout item I noticed was the tee box for #1 and #10. #1 is right by the clubhouse so it can be noisy with people checking in, getting carts loaded, etc. and the #1 tee is stressful enough when you know people are around, let alone all of the distractions. #10 is right by the main drive to the parking lot. That can be nerve wrecking as well. I will go back and see what it's like the second time around, this course is 27 miles from me so I will probably only play here twice a year anyway.
Thank you for recommending the course and taking your time to write such a thoughtful review. We appreciate all critiques, good and bad, and we will strive to better ourselves any way we can to provide the best round possible. Hope to have you back soon!
Well groomed corse
We got this course on a hot deal and even-though we were early they put us on the tee. The course was well groomed and the greens held good and rolled true. We will definitely be back. Pace of play was good about 4 hr for the round.
Really glad our staff was so accommodating with your early arrival! We hope to continue providing well groomed conditions so you can enjoy your next round as much as the last!
Good, local golfing.....
Pro shop employees were very friendly and helpful.
The greens and fairways were also in pretty good shape.
We're glad you enjoyed the condition of the course and the staff is grateful for your kind words. We hope to have you back soon!
Good course for the value
Course is great for the price of a hot deal. Greens were fairly fast and unforgiving. I enjoyed playing this course. I would recommend this course.
Thanks for taking the time to review our course! We appreciate your review, but would like to advise that we now operate under the name Victory Hills Golf Course. We look forward to having you back!
The course is nice the upkeep is not
The course from tee to green was in very good shape. A few of the greens the speed was off the charts if you were an inch above the hole and missed the cup your ball may very well have rolled off the green. Moving on from the course the cart paths are not paths as much as a collection of potholes. The driving range has one yardage sign at the end of the range and no defined tee box. The staff was not very helpful or friendly. I played as a single and watched another single and twosome go out before me with the starter not bothering to pair anyone up and no marshal. This led to some extremely slow play when I got to the back when some singles played through and other were forced to wait. If they repave the cart paths and start monitoring the course I would try it again.
We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the course from tee to green. We apologize for the cart paths and pace of play. We are sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience with the staff, as we strive for great customer service. We have made sure to address this issue.
Victory Hills
We really like the golf course. The greens are always in excellent shape and they are fast. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The only part of the course that needs attention is cart paths.
We are so happy to hear that you really enjoy this course and the greens. We strive for excellent customer service and truly appreciate your comments about our staff. We hope to see you again!
Amazing Shape
This course remains one of my public favorites in W PA ( formerly know as 7 Springs)! Now that the greens are quickly rounding into shape after a brutal winter, the teeth of this course (fast & true greens) is showing nicely. The staff does a great job at this family owned facility.
It's great place to play for a consistiently quick and challenging round. Scoring well here is contingent upon hitting the greens, putting well by always staying below the hole and taking advantage of the three par fives.
Don't let the yardages fool you, this course except for hole #'s 1 and 10 plays LONG!
Depending on pin placement and the speed of the greens; Putting from above the hole on 1,2,4, 11 and 13 can easily put a big number on your score card.
Try this one you will like it. This course is certainly 4☆ plus, especially in dry conditions when the sand traps are neatly groomed and fluffy soft.
Thank you so much for the positive review! We are glad that our course is one of your favorites, and are thrilled to know that we continue to meet your expectations. We truly value customers like you, and look forward to seeing you back at the course!
Nice condition, great staff
Great staff. Family owned and extremely friendly. Quick pace of play when I used GolfNow. Greens were much better than anticipated. Glad they changed the name. Will certainly come back.
Great tips!! Thanks so much for the positive review. We take pride in the friendliness of our staff, so that comment was much appreciated. We're glad we changed the name too! ;)
Friendly, challenging, and walkable
The day I played it was cold. The high was in the 40's but it was mid thirty's when I teed off. There was an outing and I overheard them tell people on the phone there was no availability.
When I asked about the chance to play and they figured out I was a single, they let me go right off. I am a large 50+ man who try's to walk when possible. This course is comfortably walkable for those accustomed to walking. The distance between the greens and tees is quite reasonable. Hey it is still western pa and there is a lot of undulation. I only had to pause about three times to catch my breath between shots.
Course was in good shape. I noticed the tough paths as others have mentioned but it did not detract from my experience. Interesting holes, airrated greens were sandy, a bit slow but very playable.
Tees and fairways were very nice considering the late change toward spring weather. Price was affordable enough that I didn't even look for high end amenities.
Facilities were old, but comfortable. Food was inexpensive and tasty for the price (I had a breakfast sandwich and then a hot dog) so let's keep that part of the review in perspective.
Staff were friendly and it was clear that most of the players were locals. If you are visiting or looking for a nice walkable (relatively) course this is a good one. I He to come back.
Thank you for the awesome review! We're glad that you enjoyed playing our course, and do hope you visit us again soon!
spanky
The course has some of the most challenging greens in the area, staff very accommodating starter let us go off the back where most courses wont. Tee boxes for every skill level, if your 275 or better off the tee play the tips will be very challenging. If you dont have a 3 putt here your a great putter.
Fair at best
Staff not very friendly. Food is overpriced. hey had aerated the tee boxes so that was not enjoyable. he fairways and greens were in very good condition. Pace of play was slow. Cart paths are deplorable huge pot holes. Course hole identification is cumbersome, hard to find some of the next holes there not where they should be. I purchased on Golfnow for $16.00, it was worth that amount but not what the normally charge.
Walk don't ride on this course
I played this course on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon. The Steelers were playing that afternoon so that probably explains the 3 1/2 round. The course itself was in very good shape, the fairways are cut tight and the tee boxes are level and well groomed. The bunkers were full of soft sand and well groomed. The greens, however were slow, they had not been cut, and this course is known for its quick greens, so that was a disappointment. I agree with the other reviewers, the cart paths are treacherous with gaping holes, you had to go slow or else the jostling could injure your back! Until they replace the cart paths the course will never attact serious group outings, and I suspect that the cart paths poor condition substantially contribute to the slow play mentioned in other reviews.
Not great but not bad
This course probably had seen better days but it's challenging and the greens are difficult. The elevation changes make every shot look unique and provide wonderful views. The cut off the rough and poor condition of the cart paths were bad enough that it put a damper on the day. Worse yet was the fact some of the staff wasn't there on time and talked in many people having to pay after their round and some confusion on starts. Glad I got a discounted typing on Golfnow.
Short and Slow
Because my girlfriend and I found a great deal on greens fees through Golfnow, we avoided what would have been a disappointment. To claim the pace of play is slow would be a drastic understatement-- we waited 5-10 minutes to hit every shot. To be fair, pace of play can kill a round at the nicest of courses, but the problem at 7 Springs was the lack of consideration by the regulars; it quickly became clear that they've never heard of ready golf. Compounding the issue was the ineptitude of the starters. You would think that they would have made an attempt to pair us up or to let us off before the two foursomes that had yet to tee off on the first. Nope. Instead, they kicked back on the cart with their feet up beneath the front patio while we suffered the negative side of what I can only gather was nepotism. Not worth the money. I've heard Butler's is considerably nicer, so we'll be trying that track the next time we're in the area.
Great day
Great staff, wonderful practice facilities and fantastic greens.
Thank you RPM for your review. We strive to continuously improve course conditions and hope that you will let us know if there is anything you need and we will try our best to accommodate you. Come back and golf with us again soon!
