Cart price
I enjoyed the course, the one drawback was that one of the holes did not have a green. Golf now should update the price for riding. They now charge 15.00 per golfer for a cart, that's an extra 30.00 for 9 holes, I believe that is a bit overpriced, just my opinion, that being said I would golf here again but I'm walking the course next time.
What’s with $15/per golfer for a cart
Only complaint is they need to manicure the greens and a cart should not cost $30 between a twosome. Used to be one of my local hot spots, but for I can golf better 9 hole course for less $$. If they’re not careful, they’re gonna lose A LOT of regulars.
Waste of my money
Terrible layout and poor path and course conditions lead me to rate this 2 stars. Staff is friendly but way overpriced.
Quick Nine
Woke up and didnt know what I wanted to do with my day, found a tee time and booked it. 45 minutes later Im shanking my first shot right into the trees left of fairway 1. No better way to start the day when you dont have anything to do.
I didn’t play golf
Work was more important, so I was unable to go play.
Please consider giving me a credit so I can actually play the course.
Nice course. Great value.
It would be good to be able to buy balls or a bottle of water.
Fun Walking Track
Not a stunner of a course but a fun 9 holes to walk for a first round of the year. #3 green is under construction but the rest of the course was in acceptable shape for March. Got in and out in 1:20 and would have played even faster if the threesome in front of me had let me play through before #7. Would definitely play here again for a fairly priced, quick morning 9.
"Our rates are what they are"
The course/club does not honor the GolfNow rate, even if you show them the online booking. I had to pay $9 more than the listed rate, in addition to the GN booking fee.
Sorry GolfNow, if they're not going to honor your rates, there's no point in booking with them through you.
The coourse was in surprisingly good shape for this time of year, especially given it's rarely in great shape. There have been some trees removed making certain shots a little easier. Not sure if this is a plus or minus considering the very short length. The third hole is under construction adding an elevated green to an already uphill hole. it'll be a fun challenge once done. For now, there's a cup in the middle of the fairway at about 140 yards. my standard 5i tee shot ended up well passed as you can't see the flag from the tee box.
That, and extra cost aside, this is one of my favorite places to get a quick 9 in, as it's less than 10 minutes from my driveway.
Beginner Golf
Second time playing here. It a walking course 9-holes only. Carts are available for $10. They need better markers so you know what hole you’re playing and tee makers, so you know if you playing off red or white. But overall it not a bad course to play.
Good for what it is
Abington is good if you need to scratch the golf itch but only have 2 hours. The course is small and short, but the greens are small and fast, which makes it more challenging than it appears. Short game can be tough as you need to control for the fast greens and the extreme slopes – it's easy to putt / chip off the green.
It's mostly par 3s with some par 4s sprinkled in, so you can practice accuracy with approach shots.
Currently, hole 3 is a stand in hole with a "green" that's a circle spray painted at 150 yards in the fairway with a cup / flag in the middle. Not sure how long it will be until that's resolved.
Pace of play can vary drastically. Sometimes, members will play solo and play multiple balls on each hole. Other days there's no one around and it's super quick and calm.
The course overall isn't maintained that well. Tee boxes aren't great. Sand traps have lots of little pebbles.
But if you accept the course for what it is, you can get a lot of joy from playing it with some friends, or as a solo practice.
