Elevation changes and decent greens
I liked the elevation changes and greens. Some blind shots and most trees were not an issue.
The range was down into a valley. No drivers allowed. It worked ok.
Tee boxes in fair shape. Same for the entire course. A few worn areas in fairways but they were trying to keep up on it.
Staff was friendly. All of them.
The food was good but the entire building is very outdated. A big area to improve.
They have a dozen or so private bungalows (?) you can rent to stay there. Small and cute and also a little old but I didn’t go inside them to comment further. Folks were staying there and they are next to the clubhouse.
The overall variety of holes made the day interesting. High tee boxes for some. Low greens on others. I walk a lot of courses but I wouldn’t try this one.
I think it’s a decent course and option unless you like flat boring layouts.
Hidden Gem
Easily one of my favorite Poconos golf courses. Greens are always in great shape and layout is challenging for all levels
Great course with slow pace of play
This course is great and I love to play it, but you need to find the times that have empty slots around them as the pace of play is consistently very slow and rules are not enforced. While that may be great for a first time golfer, it isn't as great for recreational golfers trying to get a decent round on without having to wait at virtually every tee.
Staff is great and conditions are consistently great. If you do find an open tee time with no bookings around it, you will most certainly enjoy the course!
Not a good experience
Golf Advisor would not let me select this date but I played on a weekend in August 2015. We had a 9:30ish tee time. When we got there, we were told that there would be a delay because a "large group of guys together" decided to have breakfast before teeing off instead of going off on time. Um, ok. Once we got to the first green we noticed that not only had the greens been aerated recently, they had not been cut in probably 3-4+ days either. Totally shaggy. Of course we weren't told about this ahead of time. Many of the bunkers were washed out and full of stones. Lots of crabgrass and weeds in random spots. First nine took 2 hours 50 minutes, back nine took 2 hours 30 minutes. No evidence of a ranger. As there are lots of blind holes, apparently I came close to hitting into the group ahead twice since it was backed up. They sent a guy out to yell at me and tell me if I did one more time I'd be kicked off. Shouldn't you have a bell or something if this is an issue? The layout is interesting, some really cool holes (like the drop-shot par 3) but for a 5+ hour round in these conditions it was not worth $59. We won't be back. Maybe it changed in 2016 but in August 2015 it was not good.
Not worth $59.00 greens fee
Tees and greens in terrible shape. Greens were recently top dressed and aerated, however, not told this and no discount was given. Looks like greens and tees were not mowed for several days. Approach areas around greens, in many cases, consisted of crabgrass and weeds.
5 hour round
Beautiful Views!
Challenging up and down terrain, good condition, greens, tees and fairways. Price is great $46 w/cart and you really want to take a cart. $35 for seniors. Some very exciting holes with major elevation changes, up and down.
Great Course/Very Slow Play
I played HH with my husband. The layout is beautiful, course while challenging, is fun. I was also encouraged to see all the signs regarding keeping the pace of play moving. In fact, in each cart was a large sign detailing what that meant and what would happen if POP wasn't adhered to. Unfortunately this policy wasn't encouraged or enforced.
After 6 holes we caught up to an "outing" of guys. From hole 7 on in we waited on every hole. Our round took 5 hours and 15 minutes!?!?!? In that time we saw no rangers and no one was told to pick up the pace. We teed off at 2:15pm which should have given us more than enough time to finish with daylight. Instead we played the last hole in the dark.
The grill folks were very personable and helpful and the selection was good. The Pro Shop attendant was helpful...in the pro shop. There was absolutely no player management on the course.
We enjoy this course. However, we won't be coming back anytime soon and will warn others to expect a long round. If/when we do try again, we'll be sure to check to see if there are outings scheduled for the day since they get precedence and the normal POP rules aren't enforced.
In summary, it's a nice course that takes too long to play.
