Pocones country club
We had a wonderful day. The course is challenging and the greens are fast. The environment is absolutely beautiful. Their was not a beverage cart which this needs to be remedied. Other than that it was a great experience.
Very Rough Conditions
First, I do not like the layout of this course. Many blind shots, some from the tees. Crazy elevation changes. Very long, sometimes dangerous cart rides between holes. All that being said, the course is in the worst condition of all the courses I've played in the area. Obviously, the town doesn't want to put any money into it. The tee boxes were mostly bare except for crabgrass that was overgrown. The fairways were terrible. Bare spots, gullies, puddles, plugged balls in August. The rough was really rough which is fine on a good course, but just served to slow down play on this mess. There greens were shaggy, slow and full of ball marks. I guess players don't fix their marks when the course looks like this to begin with. I suggest you avoid this place unless you just want to look at the mountains on the 16th tee. Better views and much better golf elsewhere.
Ccp 8/2022
Love this course.. Very challenging layout. Still in great shape with the hot dry summer weather.
It’s all burnt
The fairways are all sunburnt. This is usually a quirky, tough, memorable course but poor maintenance has left all the fairways and some greens burnt beyond playability.
Wait til next spring, play somewhere else.
Friendly staff, amazing views of Poconos Mountains and the golf course was in decent shape for the height of Summer. A good value.
Incredible Back 9
The Front 9 is merely an appetizer, the back 9 is gorgeous to play.
The starter.
Very rude stater.
Always no talks no smiles never say hello.
Unusual Layout, Uses all your clubs
First time playing the course on a hot August afternoon. Because it was midweek and hot I played alone.
The clubhouse seemed nice, although I didn't spend time in it. The staff was friendly. Cost reasonable.
The layout was the oddest I've ever played. The holes were not close to each other and you'd have to drive the cart a long way between some holes. Sometimes on the street, another time a long ride in the forest. Sometimes you play 2 holes then travel to next, others a few more. The rides in the woods were really relaxing, on the road next to housing, not so much. And deer stand in the way and look stupid at a golf cart just like they do automobiles.
The holes varied a lot. They aren't the standard flat straight holes with an occasional turn. This isn't your Driver off the tee assumption kind of course. You needed to look at the hole layout and run outs and pick a club for that shot. For that reason, I had to think a lot and I liked that.
Lots of tree lined holes, tight playing, minimal water. Elevated tees and some elevated greens. Lots of eye appeal to be honest.
Tee boxes were in good shape. Not too worn and multiple options for your game.
Fairways were almost all green but a few had some burnout or similar due to their location, water run off, or such. Not often enough to be common.
Faiways aren't all flat. Many are but because of the tight holes you need to pick your shots and proper side of the turn or fairway to have a clear shot.
Bunkers in good shape. Some stones in them but this mountain seems to be one big stone so they did a decent job keeping most of them in good shape with soft sand. .
Greens were all in good healthy shape. Receptive to shots and slow overall. That made them easy to chip onto and putt, which was a relief since getting on the green can be a challenge the first time playing this course.
If in the area again I'd play it again and probably will be in the future. Best condition for a value course in the Poconos than any I've found so far. Of course some resorts have big bucks to have better conditions, but they did a real good job for this cost. Bring your thinking cap, all your clubs, and extra balls.
Nice course and a good value
Third time playing this season and will come back again. Tee boxes were decent shape and greens were fast. Fairways in some areas needed work and grounds crew were addressing the problem. Price was fair and I recommend this course.
Great course! Wonderful staff
We are from out of town and on a whim booked 9 holes. We are planning our next trip back because this course was amazing to play. Only negative remark is no snack or food at the establishment only drinks. But the staff was way more professional and friendly then the 5 star private course we stayed at.
Not a great experience
Fairway here was in absolutely putrid shape, not sure where these other reviewers played. Tee box's were also terrible most were either too hard couldn't even get a tee in, or were sand like texture and the tee wouldn't stay in almost looked like the grass was burnt around certain tee boxes? Greens did look decent compared to everything else but we're some of the slowest I've ever played on. Course was also completely overbooked got through a SLOW pace of 12 holes, before giving up and driving through to leave or maybe seeing if we could play the last few holes however every hole from 12 on was being played and had people waiting to play behind also saw a group of 4 carts on one hole? Looked like at least of group of 8 which is just ridiculous on a huge course like this. But it makes sense people are doing whatever they want after the starter gave us our cart didn't see another employee until using the bathroom in the clubhouse before leaving. Also since they sell alcohol the starters are watching your every move with a cooler yet like rangers, there are no cart girls to be found have to go back to clubhouse to get beer which with the lay out of this place is just ridiculous. Overall Pocono hills and glenbrook blow this place out of the water in both price, course quality, and amenities. I don't see myself coming back here ever.
Course
Course is very short, but makes you hit a variety of shots. Greens were in great shape, but the fairways were a little burnt out. Overall not a bad course.
