Fort Cherry
We were able to play in about 3 hours. Pace was excellent. Course was in excellent shape. Would definitely book again.
Fort Cherry
I had a great experience and was very pleased with the course layout and the terrific conditions of the course. Great staff - recommend this course.
Fast greens and slow carts.
I enjoyed the layout enough, friendly staff, and the conditions were just okay. But there were two things that will prevent me from coming back. One - greens were too fast for an average hacker like me and didn't hold approach shots very well either. Two - What is with the GPS system in the carts? Cart slows down automatically around greens (fair enough), but completely shuts down if you get too close to a green or sometimes; seemingly random places. Very inconvenient sometimes and downright aggravating others. Call me petty, but the course isn't nice enough to justify that cart system, and I wouldn't go out of my way to play here again because of it.
Great greens
Visitor to PA and First time played, staff were excellent and friendly.
Greens and fairways were in great conditions.
The layout is very hilly with what I call runway golf as in multiple runways at an airport where you see planes/golfers all around you.
Not a bad thing but at times a few close calls with near misses when an errand ball was struck.
Overall an enjoyable day and great value for the price.
Very average
Fairway wasn't cut. Double booked our tee time. Slick greens. They allowed a 5 some in front which had 2 some finishing a round in 4 1/2 hours. The carts do not allow you to travel far from the cart paths. I won't return to this course.
Can't beat Fort Cherry
Over the 4 years I've lived in Pittsburgh, I've played Fort Cherry the most. Course was in excellent condition overall, the greens were PGA slick on this date (a first time for this in my experience), but still true as always. If you are considering Fort Cherry and have never played, book your round and go, you will not be disappointed.
Solid course
I have been playing fort cherry since I was in high school. Its typically always in good shape. I have to say, the greens are some of the best in the area. They are in perfect shape especially for this time of year. Some of the tee boxes are a little close together but it doesn't bother me at all. Would recommend especially if you can get a hot deal rate. 6 pack of beer for $8 as well, can't beat that!
Worth the price
I play here at least once a week. The course offers challenging holes for the advanced golfer but nice lay up spots for beginners. With par being 70 it makes the course a fun play for all players. The greens are medium speed and hardness but very true for putting, usually in good condition. The pro shop guys are normally very friendly minus the select few who don't want to help anyone. On the other hand the pro (Karen) is AWESOME. The girls that tend the bar are super friendly and the gps carts are a major plus. All in all a super good deal.
Good value and friendly staff
If you're a beginner or a little above talent this is a very nice course to play. Not overly crowded. Not many hazards and if you're a beginner like me why would anyone want more hazards than this course has. Course condition was very good for this time of year. Staff was very friendly (not arrogant like I've experienced at other courses where they make you feel like they are doing you a favor by allowing you to play their course). I will definitely play again.
Basic Course, But Not Bad
Nice simple layout and picturesque setting. Quite a forgiving course off the tee box, but difficulty increases a little bit as you get closer to fairly large greens. Pace of play generally not too bad. Conditions very good for most of this year. Back nine better challenge than the front. A few too many driver plus wedge holes and I wish the course had more deciduous trees, but overall golf here is a consistently good experience.
Great course
Anybody looking for a hidden gem? This is the course for you. Beautiful layout well kept.
Hanging in There
This course predates Quicksilver down the road by a bit and it shows. Course was designed for permission woods and wound Maxfli golf balls. With today's equipment you can bring this place to its knees if you are straight off of the tees.
Tee boxes were really chewed up, but admittedly its been a dry summer around here.
Something is wrong with the GPS on the carts. Mine disagreed with the Golf Logix program on my phone by 50-60 yards at times and twice stopped on the cart path and said that I must exit the area. Weird.
A tolerable course if you can get a Hot Price on Golf Now but other than that I'd think twice.
Great conditions
A few tees and greens were rather close. The GPS on our cart wasn't even close to accurate. Easily 50 yards off. While on the cart path, the cart would shut down and tell us to go in reverse until we we're in a appropriate area. I was impressed with the conditions of the fairways and greens. The tees were rather off though. I'd go back for the golfnow price.
Course in great shape
My only problem with the course is the fact you can't take a cart out to the car. It might have been just that day but didn't see a lot of older people . My wife was one of 2 women I saw. This is just me but this is too nice of a course for muscle shirts.
great value
Course was in great shape. Easy course, but staff were fantastic and prices were so good. Played an extra 18 holes for 8 each and 6 packs only$8. Great value
Good pace of play cause there was no one else wasting their time playing.
