great value
Course was in great shape. Easy course, but staff were fantastic and prices were so good. Played an extra 18 holes for 8 each and 6 packs only$8. Great value
Course was perfect, GPS ruined a great day
First off, the course was in exceptional condition. Perfect greens and well kept fairways. Great course for scoring if you are somewhat accurate off the tee. The problem lies with the GPS system. There were ads popping up on the screen every 30 seconds it seemed. And when there weren't ads, there was a screen asking if you'd like to place an ad there. Also, the distances and tee placements were way off. Sadly, this ruined what was a great outing for us. Moral of the story: bring your own GPS or rangefinder and don't even bother with theirs.
Grwart Sunday Round
Great course for a Sunday morning round. The GPS in the cart is nice just annoying to deal with for all the advertisements. We played fast for a Sunday morning so I would come back here for sure.
Great Golf but rooms need work
Played last weekend and I cannot say enough about the course and staff. The greens were fast and overall a great place to play. The room which we stayed at did not have curtains and lights outside made me think I was in Alaska. We had to block the window with our coats. I know we were the first to stay there this year but I believe they were not ready for overnight guest. There is one hot water tank for 30 rooms and it takes 10 minutes of running water to get it . However the price was great.
Too tight
Danger standing in every tee box. Way too tight.good greens though
Average course for an average price
I played this course about 5 times this year. The staff are like most other golf courses in the area. Not sure why most golf course workers have such big chips on their shoulders? It's like they were cops in another life dealing with criminals every day. The rough sounding lady in the pro shop is very snippy but maybe I just caught her on a bad 5 days . I am the one paying so think she should be a little more patient. But with that said, seems to be the norm for pro shop workers.
Carts: I think they have nicer carts but I always get the old ones that take 10-15 seconds to get moving.
Tee boxes: were in good condition but are placed a little too close to greens on a few holes but that didn't bother us at all.
Fairways: were in good condition and were par for this type of course. There were many trees lining the fairways but nothing that affected your shots if you stayed on the fairway. the par 5 on the back 9 gets really swampy if they had rain a few days before but that was the only bad fairway that I have experienced there.
Greens: the greens have always been in great condition when I was there. Not much sand but enough to keep it fun.
Rate of play: I play with my kids (10 and 15) and we are always waiting on the group in front of us. I don't mind that at all because they are waiting just the same for the group in front of them and so on... The thing I dislike is that the group behind us does not alway think the same way. Right away, they see kids and think we are holding everything up. I get it! But look ahead of us and use some common sense... Kids take more shots but so do some older people and some women... But we all have to wait a little to tee off so what's the hurry? To get on the next Tee box so you can wait with us??? We play according to time of wait in front of us, try doing the same! Sorry, just a pet peeve.
Facilities: hotdog and beer stand on the 10 hole is awesome! One time there was nobody in there but I could see the hotdogs spinning! That was a bad day but probably just bad timing catching her on a bathroom break.
The bar: looks nice but I never ate or drank there. My kids said the food is awesome!
I gave this course a 3 out of 5 only because I played on some very nice country club courses that would be 5's. If I was rating against other public courses I would give it a solid 4.
Not likely to return
The fairways were not in very good condition. There were significant areas of hard dirt within the fairways on several holes.
In general, the holes are very close together. A moderately bad approach shot can easily land on the tee box for the next hole in many occasions. You were often quite close to golfers on other holes as things were very close together.
Though the course wasn't in good condition and the course seemed to be jammed into a space that was too small for it, the worst factor was pace of play. I was playing a round with my wife and my aging father. He does not hit the ball well any more and I was worried that we might be a nuisance to other golfers because he is slow. We were not a problem. We found ourselves waiting painfully to start each hole. We decided to leave before playing our last 2 holes because it was too frustrating.
It seems like the round could have been acceptably enjoyable if there was a ranger attempting to police the pace of play of offending groups.
Only play if you don't any other choice
I would say that the course was in very bad condition. The fairways was the worst fairways I've seen this year. They were very burned out.
Average course
Nothing great. Fairways were dried out, but greens were great, but hard. Nothing seemed to bite.
$20 Max
This course was in horrible condition. The fairways were gone for the most part, as I had to move my ball most of the time, to find grass to hit from.
Great Staff
I signed up for a Tee time on Golf now for one price but got there and was told they were running a better special and gave our group a better rate then I would have had to pay. The ladies in the pro shop were awesome and very sweet. Great course. Golf carts kind of sucked but that was about it.
Open and nicely maintained
Solid course for all skill levels. Open course with nice size fairways and greens but have to make accurate shots to score well. Only problem is getting behind some slower groups with high handicapp players.
Great Course
Constant improvements by new management every time we play. Cannot wait to go back.
Nice course, extremely poor pace of play.
First time golfing here, really enjoyed everything about this course aside from the pace of play. The two groups ahead of us were painfully slow. The course ranger did drive past and asked us how things were going, we told him about the two groups. His response, "They're here every Sunday and they play slow as heck." It only got worse from there. The two-some ahead of us decided to let their two young kids play (maybe six or seven years old) from the 10th hole onward. I'm not exaggerating, the kids took 15+ swings per hole. I'm generally pretty patient on the course, but that was painful. Would recommend the course, but just maybe go really early on weekends, or during the week when pace of play would be better.
Decent Track
Fun course that all skill levels can enjoy. Pace of play usually decent. Conditions solid. Greens a little slow. Service okay but doesn't look like a priority. Weird hotel attached that gives place odd vibe. Enjoy getting an early weekend round in here and not as punishing as Quicksilver up the street.
They accept 5 somes!!!!
I will never in my lifetime go back there. Had a five some playing and holding up the whole course. No ranger to enforce rules of golf. Wouldn't recommend this course to anyone! An easy DELETE phone number from my phone.
Underated
I read all the reviews and to be honest I was not exited about playing it. The reviews are unfair, I golf a different course 4 times a month so I golf a lot of courses and this is a good one. Course is challenging greens are in good shape fairways good shape and staff is very friendly. Don't pass this one up goog experience.
Fort Cherry
Decent course to play at if you get the hot deal. one of the greens was chewed up but the rest seemed ok.
Great deal thru Golfnow
Couldn't beat the deal. $21 with tax for 18. Nice, open course. Tough hitting the greens from the fairway however. Made it a bit more challenging than usual. Had a great time.
