Better Have Time
I used to love playing Sunset Golf. The views are fantastic the layout is nice and a good mix of easy and tough holes. However, the pace of play is horrible there.
The range always seems to be closed when I go there. I was told this last time that it's always closed on Tuesday however I played a round on Wednesday and on Friday there earlier in the season and the range was closed both of those days as well.
Tee times are scheduled 8 minutes apart. We did not have a starter nor was there a ranger. We would wait 10 to 15 minutes to hit at every hole after hole two. The group ahead of us phoned the clubhouse to complain around hole 5 but no ranger or staff ever came out.
We skipped the grill at the turn because we were already 2 hours and 40 minutes into the round and we were allowed to play through buy a foursome on hole 11 since there were only two of us.
We caught up to the next group on 14. Unfortunately that foursome was not as accommodating even though the group ahead of them was a hole and a half ahead . They weren't as slow as the others but we still had about a 5-minute wait at every shot being a twosome.
Ended up finishing the round in 4 hours and 50 thanks to skipping a snack & beverage refill and those gents letting us play through. I don't think I'm going to be in a hurry to go back to Sunset anytime soon. It's a shame because it's not a bad course to play. Maybe again in late fall when no one's out playing?
Way over loaded in afternoon
We had to wait 15-20 minutes per hole because there was so many foursomes ahead of us which is unusual for an afternoon
Interesting views
Course had interesting views of 3mile Island and Harrisburg landing strip. Greens was pretty good. Driving range was not good. Seemed to have a lack of employees.
Played the course last year and thought enough of it to come back for another round this year . Very disappointed in the conditions of the course and the pace of play . I will not plan on coming back next year.
Best value in the area
Course was in great condition. Beside being fun course to play, it is one ofthethonly courses to take singles.
Average course
Course was in good shape. Pace of play was horrible. I dont think allowing 5 Somes is a great idea. Almost 2 and a half hours to play 9 holes? I gave up after 9. Would I come back? No. I'll go to Deer Valley.
Nice course, especially for the price
Sunset is really a nice course in the area to play. Since the renovation a few years ago due to the proximity to HIA, the front 9 plays as a links-style and the back 9 is more traditional. Greens are rolling well, a few bare spots in the rough, but that's also anywhere. It's a good course, I recommend.
Poor customer service
Decided to make a tee time here for the first time. My family and I walked in, checked in, asked a simple question to the old man behind the counter and immediately he was so rude and disrespectful. Told us the door is right there and we can leave. He should not be working with that attitude. I am very unsatisfied with this place
Typical Sunset
I played at this place several times and was hoping for a change. Unfortunately, I got my wish put a change for the worse. While I understand conditions would be dry, the greens and the tea boxes were all in bad shape. The homemade signs for cartpath only and to fix divots with stickers from the dollar store are really not necessary. Spend a few dollars on an appropriate sign. One had a par five listed on the card listed on the sign. I feel the owners realize the convenient location creates a lot of players to use this course. However if you’re willing to go a few miles further east there are better options for better value.
Sunset
Awesome course for playing the first time. The View are awesome over looking the river and airport. The long par three are a real challenge but definitely worth it when there airplanes flying over your head!!
