Been too long
Haven’t played here in 10 years. Still beautiful. It had rained a lot recently and was surprised we were not cart path only. Greens are all in excellent shape. Didn’t remember most of them being, relatively flat. . Played as a twosome in under 3.5 hrs. All tho Tanglewood is over an hour from home, we DEFINITELY intend to return when things dry out.
Morning started out with extremely friendly staff. Course was beautiful. Loved the GPS units on the carts. Will definitely return and recommend to friends!
Dry township and a quirky course
Here the course layout and features are a bit quirky and not a great layout overall. The conditions should have been better on the greens and fairways for the price and it’s reputation. The fact that it is a dry township so no beer during or post round is too much. Staff could be a bit friendlier too. Not planning to return.
Disappointing given so many recommendations over the years.
Well worth a play.
I had the opportunity yesterday to play Tanglewood Manor for the first time and it was a terrific experience. A member of the family who owns the course greeted me in the pro shop and welcomed me to tee off early. The course has a wonderful parkland style feel with a good amount of elevation change. With a slope of 122 from the back tees it is quite open and there is no tricky or quirky holes. It was in superb condition especially for this early in the year with the greens and surrounding areas well manicured. The greens are large which can lead to tough 40 plus foot putts. #18 is by far the toughest hole at 549 yards uphill. Take the hour to drive from Philly or Baltimore for a pleasant round at a good value. Bonus: I am a scorecard nerd and it is an old school, small card with a simple layout and no advertising that is worth keeping.
Surprised
I was very surprised at how well kept this course is. I heard from others that it wasn't in great shape but they are 100% incorrect. This course is in great shape and the greens are perfect. It's not the longest course but can be tough with the dog legs and elevation changes. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who has never played it. I will definitely be back great course and great time.
Lived up to recommendations!
I just loved this place! Set in Pennsylvania's Lancaster County, this is an interesting and well-maintained course. The greens were perfect. Elevation changes make for a bit of a challenge - need to add more club on two elevated par 3s on the back 9. It's a hour drive for me, but well worth it. Staff friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back.
