Just a Fun Course to Play
The staff treat you like a friend. They understand what's important: getting you onto the course with as little fuss as possible.
I love this course. The back 9 is challenging because it slipped one way found away from the clubhouse and slopes the other heading into the clubhouse. Tests your skills throughout the course
First time out this year
Course was in good shape for Feb.
Sand traps and tee boxes need work in the spring.
Could have used a marshall out in the course to keep things moving. Faster.
Staff is always friendly.
Always a fun course to play.
Will be out again
When weather and schedule permit.
Thanks,
Ron
Just a Fun Course to Play
Imagine a course where the staff is happy to accommodate its patrons. There's an opening and you can go off early...done. Want to drive around in brand new golf carts...done. Need a quick bite before you tee off...done.
The course is in the countryside and the hills, trees, and views are nice. The course is challenging but fair. The tees are varied to support all types of golfers.
Friendliness and fun best describe this venue.
A foggy day
Wow what a foggy day but had fun!! Course was fun course !! Fairways were in decent condition some tee boxes were just mud. But course was challenging and fun !! Young lady at counter was friendly and nice !! Wish they had driving range but it is what it is. Would recommend
Good course, but hit hard by winter conditions
It was my first time at Pleasant Valley GC and it was mostly positive with a couple of minor issues.
Firstly, the pricing is very affordable, at least at this time of year. Other than another single, I had the entire course to myself (probably because of the cold weather and the course's isolated location), which made my round very relaxing and enjoyable. I felt no pressure to be rushed when playing, that's a huge positive for me.
The course is fairly scenic, showing off the area's rolling hills, a nice change of pace for somebody from Delaware, where it is quite flat comparatively.
The staff was very friendly and helpful when I had trouble getting a cart started due to the cold weather. They came out and got the cart going for me. They gave me helpful information/advice about the clubhouse and course with it being my first time playing there.
In terms of the golf course itself, my critiques would include the tee boxes could be flatter and more level throughout the majority of the course, though they weren't horrendous.
The biggest issue I faced was the greens were really hard/solid because of the cold, making it really difficult to hit them and stay on the putting surface. After a few holes, I realized I'd have to club down anywhere from 1 to 3 clubs to land the ball short and have it roll up onto the green. I'm not qualified to speak on the truth to these conditions, whether there is some course management that could be done to improve this, or if it simply comes with the territory of playing winter golf (maybe a mix of both?). Either way, these issues were not a huge hindrance, at least not when you consider the positives I've listed above. The hard greens actually probably helped my golf game by forcing me to think more about my course management and club selection, and how to go about playing different shots. I'm sure not every golfer would agree with that though.
To summarize, I would recommend this course and would be happy to play it again. I'd like to come back in the warmer months and see how it plays then.
Incredible Putting
The greens were incredibly fast considering all the rain and the cold temperatures. Only ourselves and one other individual was playing golf this Saturday morning. Wind was an issue for about three holes and then it let up and while still chilly absolute great day of golfing. Just could not believe the speed of the greens. Hats off to the grounds crew. Thanks for being open!!
Nice pleasant course
Great day on course. Chilly but wide open. Greens still in great shape. A lil inconsistent on speed but manageable.
Could have been better
I liked the layout of the course. Being the first time playing, there were a few shots I would have tried to hit differently over some blind landing areas. I biggest complaint was the greens on one, and ten. There were leaves piled a foot beep covering 90% of both greens, with no one even trying to clean them up (besides the golfers) The other issue was the grill was closed. If the course is open, the grill should be as well. Other than those two, I really enjoyed the course, and will be back (after falling leaf season)
Let folks know they are getting deal while scramble is going on
Great value and awesome staff. If they could let you know some how that have event going one would be helpful. We waited way too long on every hole until hole 15.
Great Value
A few spots here and there that need care but overall in very good condition. Greens good but quick and didn’t hold well. Got very backed up on back nine but course staff addressed it as well as possible. For the price it’s very hard to beat. Layout is interesting.
No Tee Boxes...Barely Any Fairways
I really don't think I need to say anything more. You need a hand drill and a tiller to find a level spot to put your tee in the ground. Fairways are barely there, as there is tons of crabgrass all over the place. Dont even let me get started about the condition of the sand traps or should I say clay and mud holes. This used to be worth the drive from MD. Not any longer. Sorry, I'm not being mean, I'm being honest.
