Only the greens...
There was an outing earlier in the day and I doubt if anyone cut the greens on Sunday as they were very receptive but slow. It was difficult getting long puts close. I just came back from California playing a totally different grass and speed and I just never adapted to the difference.
The greens were very slow for some reason they weren’t that slow earlier in the year. I’ve played there all winter and they were better.
ROUGH!!!
Beautiful course set up beautiful. It’s not a long course but what they do because it’s not a long course they got very very narrow fairways and if you hit in the rough you lost the ball no matter if it’s 2 inches into the rough or 20 feet into the rough u will not find the bqll very disappointing not fun played very good hit the ball good but lost a ton of brand new golf balls in the rough. Not fun at all. Not fun at all dad they got the course set up like it’s the U.S. Open.
Good for the money
Only complaint was the food. Hot dogs at the turn is traditional and people want good hot dogs at ball games and on the golf course. The dogs were on a roller and hot -- good there but that's where it ends. The buns were plain and stiff (not stale but close). They need a bun steamer so warm soft buns are available. Also only catsup and plain mustard was available. The better golf course dog venues have hot dog meat sauce, sourcrout, onions, relish, spicy or stoneground mustard. It helps make a statement about the course and this is one area that needs a lot of improvement.
Kudo's to the maintenance staff...
Since we have had no rain the fairways allowed a lot of needy roll. But the greens were absolutely fantastic. They were slower than usual but they held and rolled consistently the same speed. Other Lehigh golf courses would die to have these greens without mentioning any names. And the cool thing for me was it was my 76 1/2 birthday & I shot 76 from the white tee boxes. Memorable day!
Great value for the price
They have definitely done a much better job of maintaining the course. The added deck and outdoor area makes the after round drinks much better. Can’t beat it for the price honestly.
Shep Hills looking better
Shep was always a fun kinda easy enough track but the conditions were a bit lacking. They’ve been sinking money into improvements and they’re starting to show. Fairways were over seeded, greens were rolled pretty nice overall. Tough to beat their 19th hole amenities and atomosphere. Good spot for a quick friendly post work 9 or with the buddies
Course has been really upgraded since last year. Fun track for average golfer.
Always friendly staff and really concentrate on customer service.
Course
The course is very close to where I live which is very convenient for me to play.
Always a great round
This course is a “go to” and probably my favorite course in Lehigh Valley…it’s close to home, the greens and course conditions are always on point, and the staff is awesome! The Bar n grill has delicious food, cold beers, and wing nights! Great for golfing a round and dinner afterwards!!! Shepherd Hills continues to get better each year!
