Poor fairways
Either need to cut fairways more frequently or go over 2xs when mowing. Lots of clumpy debri/cut grass build up.
Elks
It had been at least 5 yrs since I golfed the Elks. It didn’t disappoint at all. The grounds were very lush & well cared for.
cart paths are rough.
The cart paths are in need of repair, course wide. The fact that the staff warned me that there we're no rainchecks, while a Thunderstorm was approaching, was not very inviting. The GPS carts we're no joy either. Ours shut off a few times in areas that it should not have.
Whining!!
The manager at the course told me that he would not honor the Golf Now offer. I purchased it online and then was told it was not possible for the rate. I have no idea what went wrong but he told me that he was going to give me the rate so that I quit whining! I simply asked how Golf Now got the rate and why he would not honor it. That’s not whining! I don’t think I will use Golf Now anymore and I don’t think I will ever play at the Elk’s golf course in Rapid City again!
Good way to spend a Sunday
I’ve played this course many times over the years and if its not my favorite course its a very close 2nd. Its always in great to perfect conditions. Scenery is nice and easy course to get to. There are very easy holes and some challenging( play the hole correctly) holes for a good pace of play. There are probably 2 holes that could definitely use a reconstruct and the club house and services could use an upgrade.

The staff here is amazing. Super friendly. Met great people who were regulars there. New pro shop is great!
Great course for the money
Had a bunch of fun playing here. A good mix of challenging holes to easier ones. I wish they had water on the course but other than that it was great.
Slow!!
Took 2 hours to get through hole 7. Left after hole 7 because 2 groups of 5 ahead of us and backed up on hole 10. Staff refused to Marshall the slow players and refused to give a rain check or voucher. Wiould never play this course on a weekend or nice day!
