Twelve Stones Golf Club
About
Twelve Stones Golf Club (formerly known as Twelve Stones Crossing) sprawls across rolling hills, making the golf course known for its dramatic elevation changes. An even lie will be hard to find and golfers will also have a few blind shots in store for them. The undulating terrain makes for some difficult holes but it serves another, more player-friendly purpose of providing scenic respite with idyllic views of the surrounding countryside. The greens are lightning fast, but they roll true and there is rough bordering the well-manicured fairways. There are also several bunkers strategically placed throughout. It is a golf course that is challenging but still fun to play, a statement that holds true for a wide range of skill levels. Given the versatile design and affordable rates, Twelve Stones Golf Club is a popular venue for tournaments and outings.

Golfer Reviews
Great Course
We only got to play a late 9 as we were rained out for our early morning round. The course is beautiful. It was wet but playable. The layout is fantastic, beautiful views, and trees. The course was in good condition, I knocked down the rating a bit only due to the greens. They were a bit chewed up but still very puttable and playable, and for late season I think that is acceptable. Very hilly to play, and climbing the hills without the cart (cart path only due to wetness) was a bit of a chore. I would love to play there again.
Just not good
First, when I paid through GolfNow, I was charged for 18 holes WITH a cart. When I got there, they told me I had to ride in someone’s cart they paired me with. In order to have my own cart, I was charged again a $15 fee. It’s very irresponsible for them to place strangers with strangers. We are still in a pandemic and there are people dying out there.
Second, they really like to hassle the golfers. I tried to tee off alone and was told that’s not allowed. Only place I’ve ever golfed that had this rule. Said it slows down the play. It does the opposite. They need to spend more time focused on the conditions of the course rather than hassling the golfers.
Third, the conditions were absolutely trashed. Scorched greens, awful tee boxes, terrible layout.
I will never play this course again and I will never recommend it to anyone. I’m also going to make some calls about their business tactics and try to help prevent others being out in harms way.
This review is down right pathetic! You book a tee time and you expect to do whatever you want. Tee times are for 4 golfers. You purchase one you should expect to be paired with other people. As someone who has worked in the golf industry and dealt with people like you, your review is based off them not meeting your demands I guess you expected the course to roll out the red carpet for you and your discounted rate (probably a hot deal) and let me guess, did you show up an hour early expecting to go off by yourself? Or better yet, do you expect everyone else on the course to stop so you could play through? If you are worried about the "pandemic" then maybe you shouldn't be playing!!! Sorry the golf world didn't revolve around you and your "hot deal".....I'm hoping there comes a time where they stop working with golf now, honestly because of reviews like yours.
As for the course, I did play on 10/18, yeah there is a green or two that has some bare spots, but overall the greens were awesome. They rolled very consistent and true, Fairways were incredible and the all the bunker work they have done has made the course look awesome.
So here's some advice for you Larry, get some friends to play golf with you, or don't' play at all.
Great layout and club house
We enjoy playing on this golf course, this course has good challenging par 3's, outstanding fairways and tee boxes. This course has beautiful views of the fairways with the water hazards and you will enjoy the deer as well around the premises.
Greens Need Work
The course has matured nicely since I last played it in 1999, the year it opened.
Unfortunately, most of the greens need work. They have large bare patches where it appears the mowers did a poor job. The grass is extremely thin, making it hard to properly repair your ball marks.
The tee boxes also need work, most of them sit on a side hill lie, making the tee shots awkward/
The fairways were in great shape and the pace of play was quite good.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Twelve Stones Golf Club, and we hope to see you again in the future.

Hello. We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. We would love to know how we can earn those last two stars next time! Thanks for playing Twelve Stones Golf Club.
Greens in rough shape
Tight driving angles, several holes with drastic elevation changes make the course challenging for average players. Expect to club down if you’re not very straight off the tee or you will lose golf balls
Greens in bad shape make putting tough for the best of players. Not sure what’s up, this is not the normal experience… the greens need major work
Great course
Really enjoyed 12 Stones. It’s a hard course but fun. Some of the greens were in rough shape, but overall the course looked great!
Decent but tees/greens in horrible shape.
Just bad tee boxes and greens all around. No maintenance has been done on either in months.
GolfNow didn't mention that only 9 holes were open
stars given were for a previous round.
complaint is that GolfNow didn't mention that the back 9 was closed. would have made an impact on my decision to play this course.
otherwise, good course. layout is decent with lots of elevation changes. greens are slow and aren't great, but playable. and for the price, can't really complain.
scenic, challenging, and reasonable
I played Twelve Stones on 4 occasions this summer. This is a 4-visit review.
Twelve Stones has rare scenery and topography for a suburban golf course. I went at times of moderate crowd and cost. I found it enjoyable. Even with the shortest of tees i wouldn't recommend Twelve Stones for a true beginner but it can be enjoyed by all other levels. The staff is friendly and the facilities are better than most. The course offers rare variety and so it's a good experience for those who play courses with fewer dimensions. It's good to be challenged by uphill, downhill, water, length, traps, etc. Makes the sport fun
3 complaints:
1. I wish customers were more faithful in repairing ball marks. Not sure i've ever seen so much evidence of such lazy patrons. It's a legitimate statement of condition but much of it not the fault of TSC.
2. There were times we were suddenly surprised by cart path only or geofenced by the cart GPS. It was not excessive but sometimes surprising and for no apparent reason but perhaps some other reason.
3. Sandtrap's is an indoor-outdoor gem. Especially in the covid era not many public courses have such a full menu full service friendly on-site restaurant+bar. It's also ideal for certain functions. However there is a palpable friction between the golf course and Sandtrap's for which there was evidence from both sides. This has to stop for real, and not just for show, and I'm not interested in reading denials of the reality. It was obvious and often and two-sided.
I enjoyed my 4 visits and look forward to more visits in the future. My golf is getting better and the experiences getting better thanks to TSC
