Class A course
One of the best view courses in oregon. Friendly course for women. We drive from portland to play this and it is well worth it. Hope they can hold things together for another season. Big turnover with the help.. Probably underpaid. Owners need to do a better job of managing. Highly recommended.
This course has great features
This course is the nicest we have been to in many years. The views from all over the course are outstanding. The course is maintained at the highest standards for a golf course. Greens exceptional. Worth the price and drive up the gorge from Portland. The clubhouse could use some attention to the pro shop and grill. Food was not expensive but I would rate as average. Grounds and clubhouse staff welcoming and professional. I encourage golfers to check this out for a day trip.
Lovely day
It was a great day and enjoyed the scenery as well as the golf. It would have been more enjoyable if it were a sunny day to see the scenery even better.
Beautiful setting and surroundings
Very nice course. A little hilly but walk-able. Greens are tough and good approach shots a must. If you stay in the fairway can score well. I'll definitely go back. This is now one of my favorites in the Gorge.
The greenskeeper wants you to suffer.
I've played this course 40 times in the last couple years and it's one of my favorites. However on 9-16-14 the pins were put in some tough spots making it alot of fun. If you've never played there, go, it's well worth the drive.
Elk Ridge Golf
Beautiful Course, short but challenging, some greens are VERY tough, almost unfair depending on pin placement. Course was in excellent condition, but horribly understaffed. On a Sunday morning they only had 1 person to check in golfers, and sell food and drinks. There was no starter, no marshal, many ball washers had no water, no cart girl...... Overall all though a great course and well worth the drive.
customer service
the course was phenomenal, but the whole place was deserted, I think it's because they have people working there that are nice but don't really seem to care.
outstanding views
As an older golfer I wanted to walk the course and see if I could enjoy. I think next time I will rent a cart, but, I did like playing golf here. also, the ball goes farther and looks beautiful in the blue sky. greens are fast and clean, you need to concentrate very hard. holes are short but narrow rough not good. short holes going uphill are very tough. I personally like playing here thanks
Challenging, Beautiful, Fun...
Played Elk Ridge for the first time. I was very impressed. Fun layout. Penalizing rough (keep it in the fairway). BIG greens with a lot of ups & downs. Overall course was in really good shape. And of course the views are spectacular. Go play this one.
Beautiful views. Great condition.
First time playing course and plan to play it again. The course was in great condition. Not too long. Greens had a lot of slope but rolled true.
Hidden Gem
Fantastic course, amazing views of the gorge, well worth the drive!
I like what they have done.
I played this course when it first changed to Elk Ridge. rough was unplayable,I really like that they listened to the customers and cut it down in a just off the fairways. Will go back soon.
Enjoyable track for good value, no crowds
Plus:
- Nice, diverse track with lots of risk/reward. Greens can be very challenging depending on pin placement.
- Greens were nearly immaculate when I played in August.
- Played on a Friday afternoon, only two other groups on the entire course. If this track was in the metro area it would be packed out. Can't overstate how pleasurable it is to play a nice track at my preferred pace.
- Standard green fees are great value. Any GN discount makes them exceptional value.
- Lots moderate elevation, but still very walkable
Minus:
- Fairways and greens were excellent, some clippings left on second cut though, pet peeve for me
- No drinking water on course
Make the drive, it's worth it!
With a great discount rate from Golfnow I drove up the gorge to Elk Ridge on a late Saturday afternoon. The course was almost deserted and it felt like we had the entire course to ourselves. Great conditions, friendly staff, beautiful views and surroundings. Greens are challenging but very fun. Make the trip, you won't be sorry.
Best course I've never heard of
This corse is worth the hour and a half drive from Beaverton. The view was spectacular, the corse was one of the best I've ever played, and the greens were very challenging.
Fun Course, worth the money.
Great golf course in good condition. Will definitely play there again. It is important to stay in fairway as the deep grass in the rough is not very forgiving.
Never again!
A maintenance man stop us on a lawn mower and harassed us for taking a look at the grounds. Will NEVER return. Not a comfortable atmosphere. This place is also owned by the Bonnieville Hot Springs. I will not give them my business either. The GM was not helpful and rude on the phone.
Hidden gem
If you enjoy a fair challenge, and a course well maintained, then this is a must play.
Plays longer than yardage, and greens will test your putting skills.
Walkable even with elevation changes.
Find time to play this course!
Elk Ridge is a gem
I hope my review gets some more people out there...but not too many because it was nice being able to take my time and not be rushed by anyone behind me. I went at 2:00 on a Saturday with blue skies and 95 degrees. After I finished playing, the only thing I could think of that would keep people away on a Saturday afternoon was the heat. The course was in outstanding shape, especially the greens. The surrounding views were what really made the round. There are mountain views on pretty much every hole - absolutely gorgeous! The staff was very friendly, although new and somewhat untrained when I was there...but that didn't bother me. During the round, I saw maybe five or six groups out playing. I know it's a little bit of a drive from Portland, but this course is a real gem. If I had buddies in town for a week of golf in the Portland area, this would definitely be one of the courses I would choose.
