First time away from home...
I'm just now getting into golf and i have the privilege of training and working out at Quail Creek Golf Course and Country Club. Silverhorn is the first place i played outside of my home course and i wasn't disappointed (keep in mind i'm a noob). The greens were a little out of shape, but the course seems to be beautifully maintained other than that. The only REAL let down was the lack of supervision on the course. My partner and I were backed up behind at least two groups ahead of us and there were at least two groups backed up behind us. still... the course is challenging, fun, and all for a decent price. I recommend!
Course was pretty decent but not worth the travel to play it
Course was pretty average compared to its high rating it has. Greens were rather slow. Bunkers weren't raked and hard like hitting out of rocks. And the tee boxes especially #7 needs to be widened. There's no way to hit a decent tee shot from the back tees on that hole. Trim the trees or something. Carts weren't very pleasant either
Good Value
Course was in decent shape but the pace of play was a little quick for a Monday.
Value is great and courseis challenging for first time players
Greens were varied in quality. Some were great and a few are in bad shape. Variety of hole layouts made the course challenging but it was fair. Wind and elevation changes made club selection key on most all holes. Trouble was not visible on most holes and you can get into trouble easily.
Outstanding pace of play
Ahh what can be said about my beloved Silverhorn that hasn't been said? Well, let's see...if you want get out of there in under four hours, get a Monday thru Thursday tee time otherwise it's going to take you at least four hours to play. Even so, it's not Lake Hefner GC which is a five hour tragedy. The older gent in the pro shop is a realmenchh. I had the 8am on Monday and was paired with a twosome. They called and added two more players making it a fivesome. He came and found me on the practice green and told me to start when I wanted to in the interest of keeping a good pace of play. How's that for customer service huh? #4 is a real pain! I have yet to figure out the island fairway distance. Doesn't matter thigh cuz I'd probably miss it haha! Oh and this is definitely not a walking course. Lots of undulating hills and such. Enjoy your round here. I always do ;)
Well maintained and great value.
The course is well maintained and has a good amount of features and variety from hole to hole. The staff is very friendly and helpful. One of the best values in the OKC area, especially with their twilight rates.
Great shape.
Pace excellent. Dick is great to work with and we had a great time.
Silverhorn
Great course, accommodations nice, I like the layout a lot. It is challenging course. Usually get tee time when needed.
hilly..with some narrow fairways
a fun course to play..great value..good fairways and smooth slightly fast greens
Moderately interesting course
This course can jump up and grab you if you are not paying attention. Losing focus can cost you strokes.
Love At First Sight
It had been some time since I had played this course, and I thought that it was a good back then. I instantly feel in love with everything about this course. This course would not necessarily be a great course to walk; however, it would not necessarily be bad because the course allowed for close proximity to the next hole (great routing). The greens were in great shape, and they were about the speed that I like (If they needed to, they could make them faster). There was only one green that was bad, but it looked like they were giving it the full treatment to get it in playing condition. The sand in the bunkers was penal, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. If you flew a shot into the bunker, it would plug. Their signature hole is a par 5 that feels like you are hitting through a 200 yard tunnel just to get to the fairway. I love this course, and I will make it my home course. By the way, I was hitting it all over the place, and it was my worst outing since my return to the game this year. This leads to my next point of praise: I hit the range after (and not before, which probably would have helped) the course spit me out beaten and bruised. I was surprised to discover that for five dollars you got seventy to eighty balls, and they were in pretty good condition (no darters or wobblers). The teeing area was in good shape, and there were plenty of targets.
Course and greens in great condition.
Staff was great. Course and greens in great shape.
overall challenging, greens were rough but overall the course was in decent shape
challenging. Greens were rough but overall the course was in decent shape. We were paired with a couple of guys who had not played a lot so that slowed down play quite a bit, but we still had a good time
Great time!
Owners are obviously making efforts to improve course. Traps were in the best condition I have ever seen. Greens are in good shade, recent aereation not withstanding. Fairways in good shape, also. Thanks!
Course is a great value
The course is in good shape for this time of the year. They have cleaned up a lot of brush in areas that had become overgrown. Hole number four has several creeks that run through the fairway and there are no distances available to water hazards. This hole backs up play and is almost impossible to play if you haven't written down distances or have a GPS golf app.
Good layout
Nice track, I liked that the native grass area was chopped down. The greens were just airated, but they were pretty nice.
Had a great time
It was very cold the day we played so the pace was very fast, early march so the course was in winter condition which is what we expected.
Very wet from the snow still
Not bad shape for February, driving range closed, greens were okay but not horrible, construction at the entrance. Still have not fixed the road coming in.
IN GOOD SHAPE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR
THE COURSE WAS IN GOOD SHAPE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. THE GREENS WERE ALL GOOD EXCEPT #2 WHERE THEY HAVE PLANTED NEW GRASS.
Too much water
Must have left the sprinklers on all night....so soggy and muddy everywhere...couldn't enjoy the round.
