Wish I was a member here!
I've played this course on an average of once a year over the last several years and I think it is in the best condition ever. Greens were perfect, fairways, rough and tee boxes were in fine shape, despite the ongoing drought.
My only issue would be with the carts. They are really old, lack windshields, but still run ok. I didn't use the onsite pub/restaurant so no comment on that.
Great course for value
Thank you to the staff. Always try and help the course by picking up broken tees and trash. This course is pretty descent if kept up. Ball washers at each tee box and sand at only some. I did not see a club cleaner near the pro shop. Played 3 rounds so far this year and the course is better than most so far this year.
Good, older course but ....
I have played this course about 5 times. The greens are very small and fast. The cart we had worked fine but was a rather shabby old Yamaha with a torn seat. I do enjoy this course when the rates are more in line with the condition (which they were, thanks to golfnow).
My only problem was it appeared about 20 college age students (the team?) showed up and jumped on whatever hole they pleased! Four of them wanted to cut in front of us on the 3rd hole. No way! We were also held up a couple other times by different students from the same group who jumped ahead of us.
course is very demanding, greens are small, all slope from front to back must to stay below the hole.great course for the challenging golfer
Excellent condition
The course was a fair challenge for a 71 year old senior from the blue tees. Course is fairly short. One club member noted that he had never seen a 71 year old play from the blue tees so that made me feel good.
The weather was windy, but the course was fair.
Excellent pace of play. Under 3 hrs.
I would play this course again.Oh yeah , after swinging well yesterday, my back hurts today.
"Nice course, well worth the trip"
We have had a certain golfing magazine savings booklet for three years and this is the first time we traveled here - can't believe we didn't come before! Mature course with plenty of challenging holes. Tree lined fairways with slope and/or undulations on vast majority.
It was a beautiful sunny day and the meticulous groundskeeping was underway early and often. The fairways were in good condition, and the tee boxes were like greens at many other places. As for the greens - all in great shape and putt very true (remember the slope.) Also it was nice to play somewhere where people repair their ball marks!
I know we will back - It was well worth the day trip.
Overall happy
Got a deal from Golf Now and said it was for 1:00pm and for $12. When we arrived at the course, the shop pro advised us that we did not have a reservation and that GN is no longer good there. I was confused. He was a little hesitant on letting us play for that price and said it wouldn't even pay for the gas in the carts. He did end up letting us play. Course was above average with the greens being pretty hard and fast. Some dead spots on fairways and greens. I was happy but still confused about the GN app and pricing.
Nice track
The Platteville Golf and Country Club is a beautiful old style course. Loaded with mature trees, and plentiful elevation changes. The bunkers could have used a second raking as they dried out from the previous day's rain, but that is my only complaint on the conditions. The greens are in excellent shape and roll true, and the fairways are lush bent grass. Our entire group looks forward to playing it again.
Great Course
Make sure you are on the right side of each fairway
Great course
My first time golfing here and won't be the last! Great course can't wait to play again!
Amazing Value!
I wish I lived closer to this gem. It has elevation changes, doglegs and plenty of very mature trees. The course is on the short side but don't let that fool you, the small greens and big trees will challenge you. The course is in fantastic condition and the staff is wonderful.
Wonderful
Awesome course . Tee boxes are like most greens.
Challenging but fair. Certainly tested this Florida boy used to flat land and moderate green speed
Very nice course - Worth the ride
I like to make a golf date with my wife once a week. This week we picked this course thanks to GolfNow. This was challenging enough for me but well within my wife's capabilities. We had a great lunch afterwards in their newly remodeled club house. We would certainly play this course again.
Challenging Course
Great course with some very challenging holes. It is in great shape.
Good course worth the trip
Classic older course worth the trip to play you won't be disappointed
Try it you may like it
I liked the course with a variety of holes. The greens were smaller but a nice challenge. The course was in good condition. The only negative was the brake on my cart I had to always press a few times to hold. They should update their carts. Try this course you will like it.
Beautiful course. Well maintained. Friendy staff. Challenging and forgiving at the same time. Room to make recoveries from under most of the trees along the fairways. Met some really nice folks in the clubhouse where we enjoyed a meal.
