Good but has some down falls
The ground is pretty hard so if you chunk it you will feel it and greens are a little small other than that it is a great course for the money and I like the layout.

Where’s The Grass?
Fairways grass was poor. Greens had been aerated but looked like they had been plugged like a Fall lawn and didn’t have adequate sand brushed into the holes.
A slow play nightmare!!!
I will not play here again! Played the Course for the 3ed time and for the 3ed became a hostage to slow play. This last time was by far the worst as we were behind 3 groups that had more than 4 players to a group. One of the groups had 6 people playing. There was no marshals to keep play moving and breakup the mobs. I like the course it’s nice enough and the greens are always nice, but I hate paying for 18 holes and only playing 16 because you have to skip hole to go around a mob not to mention the loss of rhythm for waiting 30 mins to tee off and advance. Not worth it!!!

Deceptively forceful course
Interesting course. One must drive the ball well to have a shot at greens in regulation. Length off the tee helps. To avoid overhanging tree limbs, fire to center of fairway. Greens a little grainy, but not brutal (except in summer). Unless fairways are damp, pull 3 wood on 8 and 17 to avoid hazards long.
Looking good
They are working on making it better. And for the price you really cat beat it.

Strike your ball well to have chance to score.
Big Spring demands clean ball striking to have a chance of hitting greens in regulation. The greens in moderate to cool conditions are excellent. True roll. Little grain. In hot conditions, grain more affecting. Putting difficult. Most Par 4s demand length and accuracy of the tee. If you miss, prepare to hustle. Bring a short game to survive.
Hot Day
Excellent greens, but very small. Course was extremely dry and fast, but that was to be expected. There are a few quirky holes that are borderline unfair. Numbers 7, 14 and 17. Local knowledge is a must on some of the holes. I would recommend that out of bounds be eliminated on this course and play everything as a lateral hazard.. I had a Hot Deal which was a good price, but the rack rate at the course is much too high.
Good value
For the price, it is a fun layout, especially back nine. Front is wide open and there are no bunkers , just some greens with slight elevation so shots hitting collars roll off. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Greens weregreat and rolled true.
