The Madison Club

About
The Madison Club is a local favorite that is known for its top conditions and challenging layout. It is one of the premier public golf courses in Pittsburgh. You won't find two holes that are alike on this diverse course. It can be especially tough your first time playing since there are several blind shots. The golf course tumbles across rolling, wooded hills, which makes it a hard course to walk but a beautiful one to look at. Golfers will have to contend with mature trees, rough, and a variety of elevation changes. The elevated tees offer some scenic respite from the golf course's many challenges. One of The Madison Club's most memorable holes is the par-3 17th, which begins with a forced carry over water. It is considered one of the best public holes in western Pennsylvania.

Reviews
Madison club
Had a great experience. Good helpful staff and great course.
Would play again
Well worth the playing again. Only negative was no ranger and two groups held up play. 3 holes open in front of them. Course is in great shape and very challenging. Greens looked slow but putted well.
Fun layout
Great course. Tough to map out your shots te first time playing it. A lot of hidden greens and course management. Great fairways but greens could be faster
Would play again
Sand bunkers and tee boxes need work. Challenging course with strategic shots but pace of play was terribly slow.
course was in excellent shape
my wife and I had a very good time although we did not play our very best.
Hidden Gem
Tried of the old, straight, out and back course?
Give it a try!
Bad day of golf
I normally play this course 4-6 times each year and I've always had an enjoyable time. Except for this last round. I don't know if there was a lack of communication between the starter and golfers but every hole we had to sit, and wait while other groups still had to tee off. I'm not normally a proponent of rangers but they would have been very welcome for this round. When I called the pro shop after my 5 hour round, I was responded to with a rude statement that pace of play was 4 hrs 45 min. I have never heard of such an appalling time! The course is not extremely long and if people would be more aware of etiquette and pace of play, there wouldn't be a problem. I regularly play courses that are much longer and more difficult in staying under 4 hrs to 4 hrs 15 min at the longest; even with FOUR golfers. I played in a twosome yesterday and we and other groups consistently asked to play through but apparently some people don't respect etiquette. This course needs to lower their joke of a pace of play AND employ a ranger for busy days. Until this is done, I highly suggest avoiding this course. Unless you enjoy sainting miserably on every hole.
Worth playing
Played this course several times over the past 20 years. It was in the best shape I've ever seen it. Only negative of the whole experience was slow play from several groups ahead of us. We called the pro shop to complain on #4 and nothing was done about it.
overpriced
decent course conditions. greens last couple of years have some type of growth issue. a little rough rolling. if not using the golf now discount the price is too high for the area.
Nice course - good shape
Overall a very nice course with its sets of hard and challenging hole and sets of nice fun holes. Course was in very nice shape.
why courses shouldn't overbook....
When you show up for your tee time and are told there are no more carts, that's an omen. When you are 20 min late to tee off because of slow play, that's an omen. When you are somehow able to squeeze 15 holes in before the sun goes down....a miracle! Don't ever play this course on a sunday, you will be waiting on every shot, dealing with the worst hackers in the world, and hoping that they might have a cart for you when it's time to tee off. Bar staff was amazing though....Thanks to Jenna, Melissa and Zack for being friendly and accommodating!
SLOW PLAY
Only got 15 holes done in 4 3/4 hrs. Too dark to continue. Ridiculously slow. What a Shame because the course was outstanding.
This is one of the best courses in western PA
We booked thru Golf Now and got a great deal. The course is in great shape despite the terrible wet weather we have had in SW pa. The only drawback was the cart path only due to the extremely wet conditions. It is a challenging course and can't wait for warm, dry weather to play it again.
Fair and Even(36-36) Course
Conditions were great despite raining the night before. Well defined fairways/rough and greens/fringe. Track has personality, it's not an up and down with multitude of parallel holes. Some holes driver, others long iron, fairway wood, or hybrid.
Only concerns are the lack of potable water on the course; absolutely none available. Additionally, there were no restrooms, not even port-a-potties. How are these two omissions even possible on such a well-maintained course?
Early Season
Madison is a nice course but today the greens weren't cut so putts didn't roll true and uphill putts had to be hammered.
I imagine this will improve.
Beautiful, challenging course
As stated, this course is beautiful with a great challenge. No two holes are the same and a new challenge is presented at each hole. I would love to play this course at any time but I would only play using the discounted prices. $52 for 18&cart is a bit steep for me. (Regular price)
Great Course
The greens were very slow, but it is still a great course. The course is challenging from the tips and extremely fair from the forward tees with yardages everyone can play.
Great course, Early in the season
Too early to expect any fast greens or balls that don't plug in the fairway. Overall, a gem of a course in W. PA.
