Fun Course!
First visit to Mountain View. Challenging without being intimidating. Hopefully the greens will shape up once the weather warms up. Ponds need trash picked out of them; lots of cups and cans in them. Great value. Will definitely be back!
Go low here
Mountain View is a 27-hole layout that is an excellent value play. The course is a little rough around the edges, but it is fun and a great opportunity to shoot a really low score. There are some challenging holes, to balance out the monotonous ones. The holes on the Blue side down in the valley by the creek are well-designed. The par-5 seventh requires a disciplined tee shot to a plot of land created by the creek criss-crossing the fairway. The par-3 8th is above average as well. The Red Course's second hole is a lovely downhill par 3 that requires you to fit the ball below the hole, otherwise 3-putting is a real possibility on this severely sloping green from back to front. The White Course may be the best nine, especially the par-3 4th hole. The negatives are the lack of a driving range, a net akin to a batting cage next to the putting green, which serves as the warm-up station. The cart paths are a little rough also.
Average
This course is a true municipal that has great potential to be something great. The greens were in decent shape but most definitely playable. I would ply this course again. It seems the maintenance staff struggles with the times they get out onto the course for maintenance. The tee boxes and fairways had not been. Mowed on the courses that they had people playing on first. It appeared that the white course had already been mowed but the schedule for that day were blue to red.
Greens really roll good
Overall experience was awesome
Needs some work
I've played this course for years. Recently sold and under new ownership; fairways and greens weren't cut down and there were dry spots here and there. Not a bad course if you're looking to hit it around with your son, but it's not the kind of course you'd grab your buddies up and plan a day of competitive golf. Just needs better upkeep throughout the course.
Fun day at the course
Pretty nice layout! I used to play here years ago, but the previous owner kind of let the place run down. You can tell the new management is trying to get this place back in shape. It's gonna take more work but they have the place headed in the right direction! I'll be back!!

This course is not in good shapw
This course has been let go and not maintained very well. There is no fairway. The greens are not terrible, but could use some work. It's worth right now is about $10.
Challenging course, spectacular views
Red and white courses are the better of the three courses. The blue course was a little more confusing / not marked well where to go, and not as well maintained as the red and white courses. Greens are different type of grass than I've ever seen or played on, but they rolled well. I've only played here in the fall of the year, I would like to play in the summer before fairway and greens grasses went dormant turned brown.

The condition of the course was much better than I expected.
Mountain View Golf Course Critique
This course appears to have been designed and maintained by a blind cave troll, most likely from the Mines of Moria. The tee boxes feature ankle-high fescue that makes teeing up your ball or even contacting your ball an unpredictable challenge. Also, while on the tee box, make sure you aren't standing in any sand, as this is conducive to slipping and spinning out of your shot. If you've managed to cleanly strike your ball out of the hazardous tee box area and find the fairway, it's a good idea to play the "lift, clean, and place" rule during your round. The fairways display uneven cuts of grass and dried out dirt patches resembling scabs on skin. From the fairway you will undoubtedly have a gap wedge or less into the greens on all par fours as this course barely exceeds 6100 yards from the tips. Once on the green, you might find yourself wondering, "Are these greens Bermuda or Bent grass?". The answer is, "it doesn't matter", because the greens exhibit blades of grass that have a length greater than any encountered before. The feeling of putting on a shaggy carpet will really test your ability to lag putt and your resolve to use counter intuition , as you must ignore the apparent break in order to reach the hole. In summary, if you want to play a joke on a friend or gain an appreciation for you local course, Mountain View Golf Course is the place to be.
Decent run
Course is very decent run!!!! Wish the fairways were a little better. Overall it was a nice outing
Course has potential, but needs work
Being a 27 hole layout close to Birmingham with a big club house already on site gives this course a ton of potential.. but it will take a lot of money to improve it. When I played, only 18 holes were open at a time (Blue-Red course). Some of the greens were in very good shape but others would have large bare spots. It is built into the side of a mountain so many of the cart parts feel like a roller coaster ride (hence the need for gas powered carts). I would gladly play the course again for the discounted tee time rate. The course is pretty short so it can be fun to play for beginners.
needs maintenance
Potential to be a beautiful course however course maintenance is poor. Playable but was not impressed. Happy only spent $15 pp.
Extremely Poor Golf Course
I cannot understand other reviewer positive rating for this course. There was no real grass on the fairways. There was no putting surface on the greens. All the cups had rounded edges. There were no playable bunkers. There was no water in the ball washers. Most of the ball washer were broken. It was unacceptable at any price. I know there are new owners but they will need millions to make this track acceptable.
This course has great elevation
I almost made a hole in one on the blue course par 3 to start landed 6 inches away from creeping in the hole...was absolutely fun to play would recommend anyone to come out for a great time on a fun great staffed course and place!!!!
MT. View Golf
Greens are growing in from the Winter, they looked bad but we're rolling pure and fast!
great course for the money!
you can tell that the design and layout of the course was at one time top notch.. but for lack of consistent business, they aren't able to keep everything tip top. the greens and fairways are kept up well, but some of the tee boxes aren't in the best shape.
Pros:
- layout
- options
- varying degrees of difficulty
- price
- lay of the land (elevated tee boxes, etc.)
- views
- feels like you're tucked away out in the middle of nowhere.. out in the woods in the mountains (which is why I golf! to get away)
- not crowded (I've played twice now without once being rushed or having to wait)
- nice gas carts
- friendly owners!
Cons:
- lack of, or weathered signage
- some tee boxes are spotty
- one set of 9 (out of the 27 hole course) is somewhat of a maze to get through because part of the cart path being closed down by insurance company for being too steep; and another set of 9 takes a minute to find because you have to drive past a couple of holes on the second set of 9 to get to (both of which is where they could use some better signage for directions)
All in all, loved the experience! will be back quite often.. with friends! Glad I found it!
