Just close it down..
Man where to even start, they purchased all brand new carts which were nice but that investment would have been better suited for the course. It’s horrendous even for a $30 round.. you can absolutely damage your clubs trying to play here.. the fairways look like a motorcross track so best to stick to cart path , they are washing out , hard red clay , ditches going through fairways, hardly any grass at all in them , greens are non existent, cracked open looking like the Arizona desert, no grass what so ever on most just dead with some poanna mixed in.. tee markers for boxes are missing.. flags are so faded out you can’t see them from 150 yards away.. see pics this course is horrible shape such a shame cause it could be nice .. in years past the new front 9 was decent and just the back was bad now it’s the whole thing .. I cannot say that I would ever come back ..
Poor condition of nearly everything
Fairway was bad,
Green condition was worse.,
Looks like nobody care the golf course anymore.
It got worse than previous playing about 2 years ago.
Course is in the worse condition I’ve ever seen it
Terrible!
Have played here in the past and it was fairly decent, absolute garbage now. Fairways have bomb craters in most of them. Just large spots of hard red clay. Greens also have large sand filled craters and most of the green covering is poanna, I’m sure there is some bermuda under there somewhere. Surrounds haven’t been cut in a while and tee boxes were horrible. Also the types of golfers you may end up behind aren’t very concerned with any etiquette. We were behind a foursome for 18 holes that got slower and slower as the day went with nobody within 8 holes of them. Overall if the course was $20 it would be a fair deal, at almost $50 it’s laughable.
Nice and relaxing.
I personally would play here again. I would like to see this course after the spring season. I played when winter was just getting finished, so conditions were decent. The staff were excellent. Overall it was a pleasant round of golf.
Best Value Course in West Georgia
Been playing this course for years. Not alway the most well kept course but you can always plan for a fun round that won’t break the bank.
Hilly fun
Walked 9 in the morning. Course has a decent layout with a few challenging holes. Greens are in rough shape but it's early in the year.
Hot Deal more than rack rate at course!!
So “hot deal” for $40 plus fees is about 20.00 more than the rack rate at the course..lol.. which even the rack rate is way to much to pay for this trashy course.. many municipal courses are in much better shape for $20 for 18 !
Struggling …
Man this place has went far down hill, and with the downward spiral they chose to raise all their prices…lol.. best thing here is the driving range and chipping green… definite pass and save your hard earned money for sure..
It is what it is..
Front 9 is much better than the back, it needs a lot of work , pretty much like playing in a cow pasture not much to the holes at all. Greens are half dead huge bare spots all over. Some grass in fairways but be prepared to roll your ball more than a club length for a decent lie. Bunkers need attention and tee boxes , well bring a hammer to get your tee in the ground..has a nice range and practice area. Unfortunately this course also recently went up on their prices so not a value at all unless you get it on a HOT Deal and even then questionable. Also you need to always check their Facebook page or call before as they close often for events and you have no way of knowing until you have driven all the way down there.
Small town university golf course
Point University Golf Club is an 18 hole course in Lanett, Alabama. It was built as a 9-hole course, with 9 new holes added several years ago (the old 9 is the current back 9). This course is in my hometown, and I have played it many times over the years. The course is a tale of two sides, both in layout/challenge and condition. The front 9 has a good mix of easy and hard holes. It is definitely a different design from the old back 9, with more challenging greens and much more difficulty from the tee boxes. The first par 3, #3, plays extremely downhill and is one of the stand-out holes on the course. The par-5 5th plays a nearly 90-degree dogleg left around a lake that sits between the #5 and #7 fairways. It's reachable in two with a good tee shot, but be wary of anything on the left half. The par 3 6th is a very short hole over water, but be sure you select the correct club, as short leaves you in the water and long leaves you over the back and down the hill into the woods. This is one of the most picturesque holes on the entire course, esp. up on the shorter tee boxes that are on top of a hill, offering a better view. This side is in mostly good condition, but the greens leave a lot to be desired, as several are in need of repair and covered in dead areas. Speaking of the greens, they are usually quite hard, even with all of the rain the area has received this summer. The back 9 is pretty lackluster, with only a couple of interesting holes, including the par 3 11th which plays 165 yards over water from the blue tees with more water to the right, and the closing par 4 18th, which is all downhill until a 25 foot climb to the elevated green. At 350 yards from the blues, it is easily possible to leave yourself just a simple chip up the hill for a birdie chance here. The back 9's fairways are pretty rough, there are quite a few dirt areas and again, the greens are average at best. The course staff is typically friendly, they have mostly college students working in the clubhouse, which does not offer anything as far as equipment sales and only has Point University apparel. As an overall value, the course is a fine option if you are on a budget and looking for a place to play (total price with cart for 18 holes during the week is $25, and only $30 on the weekends), but I definitely would not go out of your way to play here, as there are much better options 30 minutes north or south from I-85 in LaGrange, Georgia or Auburn.
