Not too good
First time I really didn’t enjoy playing LSU. Plenty of good grass that they just don’t cut. Spent most of the day looking for my golf balls around the fairways and greens. Greens were in good shape.
Bad Condition
I don’t know why I even go to this golf course still. Every couple of months I will go back because the location is convenient and I am disappointed every time. The green are half dead and you can lose your ball in the fairway because of all the lawn clippings. I really enjoy the layout of the course so it’s a shame they’re letting it go the way they are. At this point just put some money into the driving range and close the course.
Horrible conditions
Most holes had tons of mowed grass in the fairways. I lost 3 balls when I drove it down the fairway. I also found several balls looking for mine. No reason for that much dead grass to be left in the fairways. Half the greens had dead patches. Rough on quite a few holes were WAY over grown. Driving range is the best part of the course. Practice putting green is in terrible shape.
Convenient location - poor condition
Driving range is great, good value too. The rest of the course is in poor condition. One of the greens on the front 9 was in pretty good shape, the rest were abysmal. Still a great day on the course, just rough condition compared to many other courses in the state. Back 9 was closed this week due to survey work. Staff was super friendly!! Despite the condition of the course, we’ll be back. Hopefully the condition is more of a “work in progress” rather than the norm.
Rough
Quite possibly the worst course I have ever played. more than half of the tee boxes don't have any markers and all of them had grass so tall that your driver drags on them. The fairways were also overgrown and I lost multiple balls because I couldn't find them. The greens needed to be trimmed as well as it felt like a shag carpet when I was putting. Overall the course is in really poor shape and I know it's not the employee’s fault as they don't get the funding from the school to keep the course up. Hopefully they get better funding soon.
Played the coarse a few times. Usually great. This past time, grass was recently cut and apparently it was tall. Hay all on fairways. But overall, still like the coarse
Challenging Course
LSU course challenges your ability to hit the fairways. Roughs are thick and can easily encompass your ball. Lots of trees, bushes, ditches, and ponds. Greens are in great shape except part of 9 and 14. Tiger Stadium and Alex Box are in clear view while playing. Great college course.
LSU Golf Course
The course was in really bad shape , the front nine grass was really tall in the fairways, lost 2 balls in the fairway, greens were fair except for number nine, only about half of the green had grass growing on it. The back nine had been cut but it was so long when they cut it that it looked like they had cut it for the hay. First time I had been there in a few years and it use to be a really nice course but not now. I talked to one of the employees about the course condition and they said that LSU wouldn’t give them enough money to take care of it right then the course asked to raise the rates by $1.00 and it was denied so that being said they can’t hire any more workers to help take car of the course.
It needs to close its doors
This is the worst course I’ve played. I heard that the course will be closed for more LSU development. It must be true because there is no investment in this course. Go ahead a close it now!
Disappointed
Very disappointed that this is the course of LSU. As a major university I would expect much more. Course is in terrible condition! Grass is so long on the tee boxes that your driver drags at impact. Greens have weeds and crab grass growing in them and piles of dirt were left in the areas that cups and been changed and clumps of grass clippings were left on them after mowing. Fairway grass is very long also with clumps of grass from mowing. Rough is so long it is almost unplayable. My cart was old and worn out - there was significant play in the steering. Many signs directing you around the course are missing. It looks like LSU has given up on this course. I would suggest letting it go under rather than presenting it like this to paying guests. Never again for me!
The course could be in better shape with just a little work. Cut the grass on a regular basis for one. More signage for another thing. Play was slow because of a couple in front of us hitting at least three balls all the way to the hole. Overall had a good time just could have been a little better with a few changes. For the money it was worth it.
I’m scared LSU big-wigs are letting the course go.
I’ve been playing this course since you had to cross Nicholson Dr. in your cart. I think the high -ups at LSU are letting the course go so no one wants to save it anymore. They play at U. C. So they don’t care. They have wanted the course land for years as a new football/ baseball parking lot! It is sad, this course used to be the best and most affordable course in the area with a range. Now the range is barely usable. I love the LSU Golf Course, I just fear it will never be what it used to be again. Thanks LSU athletics👎🏻
Disappointed
I use to love playing this course, but they have really let it go. It no longer drains well, greens and tee boxes all need to be re done and fairways haven't been mowed in what seems like weeks. On top of that all the golf carts seemed to have issues in some way. They need to put a lot of money in getting this back up to where it use to be. Won't be back until that happens.
Needs attention
Pace of play is absolutely terrible, any ball not hit down the middle has a very slim chance of being found. Wasn’t bad for a spur of the moment round but I won’t make a visit there a priority without catching a deal time.
