Really good shape!
It always amazes me how good the course looks with the amount of play it gets. Really good shape!
GREENS
The course, overall, is in great shape. However, the greens are terrible. PLEASE, COULD SOMEONE WATER THE GREENS?
MEH 🫤
The fairways are in good condition. The major issue is the concrete greens. The practice green is in great shape, however, you can’t judge the speed of the greens since the greens you play on are so HARD. If the greens keeper could get out of his office and check the greens, this course could be a gem.
So So course
The fairways are in good condition and have been cut recently. However, the greens are dry, hard and are more light brown than green. It’s doable for the price, but the greens need some TLC.
Rude Staff and Poor Management
We had an unfortunate experience at Les Vieux Chenes. I played this course many times growing up and always loved it. My family was visiting from out of town, so we decided to book a tee time for five players to enjoy a round together. To keep things moving quickly, we planned a 3- and 2-man scramble.
We played on December 23rd and arrived 20 minutes early for our tee time, only to be rushed by an elderly gentleman working as a marshal. Maybe he was having a bad day, but that doesn’t excuse his rude behavior. There were a lot of walk-ins that day, and while I understand the desire to accommodate them, it felt like the course prioritized walk-ins over those of us who had booked a week in advance. It gave the impression that maximizing profit was more important than respecting players who had taken the time to plan ahead.
Just as we were about to tee off, another marshal approached us, saying that a group of walk-ins accused us of "cutting the line." While I understand the course staff can’t control every patron, it’s their job to remain organized and clearly manage tee times. This second marshal was incredibly kind and helpful throughout the rest of the day, and it was evident he was just the messenger, relaying decisions rather than making them.
Fast forward to about 5:10 PM. The course officially closes at 6 PM, and there was still plenty of daylight. We were on the 15th hole when the marshal returned to tell us, “I really hate to tell y’all this, but unfortunately, you need to get your carts in.” Again, I don’t blame him—he was just doing his job. However, it left us wondering: Why were we being asked to leave almost an hour before closing? Is there a specific time when carts must be returned? Were they planning to close early because it was the day before Christmas Eve?
These are all valid questions, but the course needs to address them, either by outlining the rules clearly or communicating them directly to players. I would have gladly returned my cart at the requested time if I had known about the policy. Instead, our group—and every other group still on the course—was treated as if we were inconveniencing the staff. One staff member even mentioned locking up soon, as if we risked being locked in.
Here’s the crux of the issue:
1. No one in the pro shop informed us of the cart return policy.
2. I don’t recall seeing this information on the website, scorecards, or anywhere else.
Given how much emphasis was placed on returning the carts early, you’d think the course would make this information clear.
On a positive note, the greens were in excellent shape, and the second marshal we interacted with was fantastic. I wish I could remember his name.
The usual
Pace of play is aweful here. I only play here when I have to. There's always 2 old guys taking forever to play, they dont want you playing through. You have to skip an entire hole entirely to get past them.
Course was closed!!
I had a 1:10pm tee time for 2 golfer on this day paid for. And upon arrival at 12:45am, the gate was shut and the course was closed… now I dispute the charge to my card and waiting on updates
course review
the fairways were nice and fluffy producing great lies but did not produce much roll for extra yardage. plenty of rough if you missed the fairways. the greens were not fully cut subjecting the putts to the grain. they should be nice after their scheduled aerification next week takes effect.

The fairways were good, but the greens were very bumpy. Even short putts were testy.

The fairways are pretty good, but the greens are terrible. It feels like putting on asphalt, bumpy.
Afternoon 18 turned into a real great time
Located a few minutes south of Lafayette. Nice course. Fairways in great shape. Some fairways are narrow. Greens are in great shape. Pace of play was good. Club house had all amenities.
All in a all just a great day for golf.
