Rainy but fun.
Been playing this course over 30 years. Love it every time I go. Great layout, wonderful people and well-maintained. I hope I can play here another 30 years.
Very unhappy
Have played here many times before, but the course was scalded no grass in the fairways on the front. many, many bare spots, I was surprised as we have always liked this course. Played behind two older couples that were in an outing, they were a hole behind on #2 tee and it got worse from there. 5 hours+ for a bad golf course, not my idea of a good day.
Great Stark County Golf
Tannenhauf is a family owned and operated course but this is no mom and pop golf course. It is extremely well maintained by a staff with conditions that rival those of private clubs. For example, how many courses these days send a guy out in the AM just to repair ball marks ahead of the mowers ? The sand is the best I've played from and also maintained daily. The course in general is a traditional layout with tree lined fairways and excellent receptive greens. It can be punishing if you're not hitting it straight and rewarding when you do. In short, a very fair test of golf.
As a bonus, the breakfast buffet in the summer months is top notch and free when you book through their website. The staff is very friendly and truly care about their players.
All of this is why Tannenhauf is our favorite local place to play and we pass by several decent courses on our 40 minute drive to get there. Give it a shot. You'll have no regrets.
Little Gem in Portage County
Had a 7:45 tee time showed up at 7:00 and they let us go out as the 1st group. Played in 3 hours. Course in nice shape, greens were a little on the slow side because of the morning dew. 1st hole par 5 didn't know about the lake so be warned. Fun Course, friendly staff, breakfast was very good.
Nice Mature Parkland Layout
For a late weekday morning tee time play was agonizingly slow. 41/2+ hours for a twosome to play 18. Both nines start with par 5's, #1 has a lake that has you laying up of the tee. #16 is an interesting par 5, with a blind tee shot uphill thru a chute of trees. We drove about 50 minutes to play here and will probably do so again.
