End of summer blues
This is normally an excellent course to visit. However, the lack of rain this year has taken its toll on the course. The ground is rock hard. The tee boxes are chewed up with most of them having only a small amount of grass. The greens... These are in terrible condition. The outside edges are dead and cracked. Only the center 3/4 of the greens have any grass. Usually this place has great course conditions all year long, but not this year.
Not bad for the money
Playing here in the spring is great but once summer hits this course turns into playing on concrete. Not bad when your driver bounces an extra 30 yards but slightly annoying everywhere else especially the greens. Staff is normally friendly and their deals on Wednesdays are unbeatable. I normally steer clear of this one unless it’s a holiday where I know other courses will be packed or they have some kind of deal going on
Disgusting
I will never golf there again! It’s not a golf course. Truly sa
Needs rain!
A challenging layout, just very hard and dried out from our recent drought. Needs some rain to help out course
Fun course to play
Nothing fancy or too difficult. Nice layout and nice course for beginners or average players. Will play again.
Great course
First time at course. Really nice staff and overall would definitely play again. Greens a little beat up but normal. Value exceeded expectations.
Sleepy Hollow July ‘25
Sleepy Hollow in the Alliance area is friendly, cost effective, and a basic public 18 hole course…not a lot of bells and whistles and it met our expectations. Our threesome played the front 9 only on this Wednesday evening at 6pm. Playing traffic was light and we enjoyed ourselves. No problem going back to play it again for just a nice leisure time.
Needs a lot of work
Sleepy Hollow is a course closer to my heart. I grew up playing this course and quite honestly it's sad to see how far it has fallen. Why they filled in the ditches/streams and took out bunkers on so many holes makes absolutely no sense to me. This course was in magnificent shape in the late 90s so I'm sure my memories of it in it's prime affect my view of it now.
The good news is the course still has a fun layout. Holes #1, #3, #6, #9, #11, #12, #16 and #18 can all be magnificent holes when maintained properly due to their fun layouts. However, nothing on this course is maintained.
As mentioned in other reviews, the is literally no difference between the fairway and rough except weeds are more common in the rough. It's the definition of field golf. The bunkers that remain are not maintained and the bunkers that were converted to grass bunkers are in poor shape to say the least.
The area where they filled in the ditches were very wet and in some cases unplayable. Not only that, but removing the ditches that crossed the fairways dramatically changed the design of the hole. The ditches/stands I that do remain could be a big part of the identity of the course but instead they are overgrown and lose all appeal. Hole #3 is a perfect example. The stream that runs along the green could make this an absolutely stunning hole if the hole was maintained.
The one other positive I will point out is the staff was incredibly nice. It was a very positive experience in the pro shop even if the actual pro shop needs updating itself
I'll continue to play this course once a year for sentimental reasons and hope against hope at some point it gets back to being what it once was.
