About
The California Golf Course sits on land that slopes gently and offers a nice view of the Ohio River; however, this course ain't just pretty to look at, but laid out to play in a manner that will test seasoned golfers and welcome novices to the friendly golf course where the trees are old growth.
California Golf Course provides 18 holes of par-71 golf over 6,227 yards. A round of golf kicks off on a par-4 hole that plays to 367 yards from the Blue tees. Because this is one of Cincinnati's longer municipal golf courses, power golfers will appreciate the chance to open up their games a bit more, with about a third of the holes measuring over 400 yards from the Blue tees, including a pair of par-5 holes, the second and ninth holes.
As the California Golf Course is a municipal golf course, expect low rates, and those who can swing a round of golf during the workweek can expect them to be even lower.

Nice Local Course
Great shape. Carts are struggling and clubhouse is outdated but the course was in great shape and challenging:)
Beware of the rough.
The fairways are always in great shape. You can play the ball down with no trouble. The greens are smooth for putting. The don't hold shots well. Too many unrepaired ball marks. That's not the fault of the management. People just won't repair ball marks. The rough is unforgiving. I lost a ball which went in the rough a foot or so. I have not played the course when the rough was cut lower. The guy I played with lost a dozen balls in the rough. Gotta factor that in the cost of the round. Staff was very nice.
Nice course
First time playing at California. Only played the front 9, but the course was in very good condition. The greens were rolling pretty fast for having dew on them still but they were consistent so it was easy to adjust. I liked the layout. If you can keep your ball straight off the tee there is opportunity to score a nice round here. Hope to be back soon to play the full course.

Nice, but……
This course desperately needs some rangers out and about……group in front of us was all over the course holding up play, at the 4-1/2 mark we still four holes to play, this is absurd, annoying, and unnecessary.

Best CRC course by far and it’s not even close
As the title states, this is the best CRC course. (Cincinnati Recreation Commission - municipal courses, city owned).
Pros:
- True greens, run medium fast
- Fairways
- Rough is thick for a public course
- Carts have good speed for age
- Friendly Staff
- Price
- Food/Beverage options
Cons:
- No divot filler on carts
- not really a complaint for the course; some players etiquette needs to be enforced or putting signage up to repair divot marks. A couple greens had fresh divots.

Summer Temps Already Here!
Typical Cincinnati...spring immediately into summer. It was a GREAT day for golf. The course was in good shape and our round couldn't have been much better...

Slow pace
Played on a congested day. Took 5 hours to finish a round. Front 9 there was a high chance of getting hit into or by a balls. Back 9 were very pretty and well laid out.

Overall good time. Course was in decent condition. The clubhouse can use significant updating.

Awesome
We got off a little late because of the rain but didn’t really experience any delays. The course is in great shape, the rough around the green was a little thick which made it challenging which was great. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for fun and a challenge.

Beauty!!
We arrived early and had a great chat with Dennis, the starter. We drove about 5 hours from Canada to play as this week is our March Break. Course was in great shape for mid-March. We really loved the layout and enjoyed our day! Hope to be back in the fall 👊😎

Problems with GolfNow Customer Service
Hail/Sleet started roughly 50 minutes prior to our round. (followed by rain)I tried to reach someone in Customer Service @ GolfNow... to NO avail. First time to be aggravated by GolfNow...
