About
The California Golf Course sits on land that slopes gently and offers a nice view of the Ohio River; however, this course ain't just pretty to look at, but laid out to play in a manner that will test seasoned golfers and welcome novices to the friendly golf course where the trees are old growth.
California Golf Course provides 18 holes of par-71 golf over 6,227 yards. A round of golf kicks off on a par-4 hole that plays to 367 yards from the Blue tees. Because this is one of Cincinnati's longer municipal golf courses, power golfers will appreciate the chance to open up their games a bit more, with about a third of the holes measuring over 400 yards from the Blue tees, including a pair of par-5 holes, the second and ninth holes.
As the California Golf Course is a municipal golf course, expect low rates, and those who can swing a round of golf during the workweek can expect them to be even lower.

Classic Municipal course
This is the second best CRC course right behind Glenview South/West. Good layout. Good conditions. There was no starter, and the staff didn't do anything to pair up two somes, and let a few singles go off by themselves that really slowed down the course. Other than that it was a good day golfing.
Stay with bent
Course in great condition only note of concern is the hy-bred grass they introduced to the greens.Blotchy appearance with an inconsistent roll.
California in the spring
Weather forecast was overcast skies and a high of 50F. Turned out to be a partly sunny day and got into the 60's! Course had morning dew (so there were a couple of slippery spots on the hillsides) but otherwise the course was in very good condition. Traps had sand (not rocks!), greens and fairways had been recently mown. Staff was friendly and helpful - from check-in at the pro shop to the starter and rangers. Someday perhaps the City of Cincinnati will update the clubhouse decor - it looks pretty dated inside!
Nice course
Nice course just off the river. Pretty fun layout with some interesting tee shots. Hole 18 is a brutal sloping fairway that isn’t even fun to play but otherwise I’d recommend!
greens fees
the greens were aerated recently. i believe that when they do this they should lower the rate by about 7 dollars. love playing there but if i knew they had aerated recently i probably would have passed on playing there today and gone somewhere else and maybe waited for a few more weeks. other than that i really enjoy the course
Competitive course-provides challenge
Think the first 6 too narrow. Was tough with group event that was playing slow and shooting into other holes. Otherwise course was fun and relaxing!
