Llano River Golf Course
About
Llano River Golf Course has the wonderful distinction of being laid out along the scenic Llano River, with beautiful views and great golf. This course should be a must-play anytime you’re touring through the immediate area.
In addition to the scenery, the most memorable feature of this course is the tiny, postage-stamp-sized greens that require pinpoint accuracy and a solid short game for pars. In fact, these well-manicured greens compare favorably to the tricky burial mound greens of Alpine and Marfa, and are surely some of the smallest targets in the state.
Mature trees line the fairways, and water hazards come into play on only three holes.
The best birdie opportunity is the short, par 5 13th hole, playing only 437 yards. Good golfers can get there in two and give it a roll at an eagle putt. The ender is talked about as the signature, a difficult 502-yard par 5 with out-of-bounds along the left as well as behind the green.
Getting there : In Llano turn left on the north side of the courthouse and head out to the course.

Great Muni For the Money!
Outstanding course layout on the back nine with beautiful river views! Great round. WIll play again.
Good for a quick 18
$22 with a cart. I wasn't expecting Augusta and nor should you. This is a cool little municipal course. They had just reseeded the course, and the greens as well as tee boxes were not cut. Needless to say, putting was an adventure.
There are 2 or 3 holes that are blind, and playing with someone who has "course knowledge" would be helpful. (I did, local players are very friendly) There are 5 or 6 holes that border the Llano river which is beautiful. The #1 handicap hole was worth the greens fee. Cool hole. Over all, I'd play it again when I get back to Texas. I'd call for course conditions before booking.
Beautiful course
The entire course is real fun to play. The scenery on the back 9 was my favorite part. Im definitely going to play this course again.
nothing special
challenging with the small sloping greens, not well kept fairways, terrible tee's greens average but puttable.
needs lots of attention by a good grounds manager.
Fun to play
I took my wife to play this course and we had a great time. Fast greens and very playable for the average golfer. Will return.
Interesting back nine.
We had played this course some years ago but were surprised by the beautiful maintenance. The greens are exceptional. Gorgeous very old Live Oak trees are everywhere and the Llano River (water in it because of a dam) is a treat to see. The back nine is quite hilly and makes for some interesting holes. It is fairly favorable to women but the par threes seem long. We loved it and will return even though it is an hour and a half drive for us. It was a nice day trip. The old fashioned downtown square of Llano is fun too.
Great value, fun to play, plenty of challenge.
This little course is a hidden gem. I went expecting some rough conditions, but found plenty of grass and smooth, nice greens. And, it is not all that little, with par 3's at 180, 210, 175, and 165 (back tees), and some really nice unexpected fun on the back 9. We were allowed to tee off a bit early, and played in about 3:15 on a Saturday. Priced right, we will return.
Course in good shape
Enjoyable course with lots of elevation changes in back nine
Flat, wide open. Nice view of the river With some elevation on the back side
Nice course for the money. Clubhouse staff were very friendly
This course has challeging back nine.
I would recoment this course. They have come along way trying to get this course to where it has good greens and great fairways.
