About
Llano River Golf Course has the wonderful distinction of being laid out along the scenic Llano River, with beautiful views and great golf. This course should be a must-play anytime you’re touring through the immediate area.
In addition to the scenery, the most memorable feature of this course is the tiny, postage-stamp-sized greens that require pinpoint accuracy and a solid short game for pars. In fact, these well-manicured greens compare favorably to the tricky burial mound greens of Alpine and Marfa, and are surely some of the smallest targets in the state.
Mature trees line the fairways, and water hazards come into play on only three holes.
The best birdie opportunity is the short, par 5 13th hole, playing only 437 yards. Good golfers can get there in two and give it a roll at an eagle putt. The ender is talked about as the signature, a difficult 502-yard par 5 with out-of-bounds along the left as well as behind the green.
Getting there : In Llano turn left on the north side of the courthouse and head out to the course.

Beautiful day
Snuck in a round on Sunday. Course was a little backed up due to a frost or fog delay, but at least 3 groups let our threesome play thru! Great friendly locals enjoying a beautiful day. It is winter and the fairways are pretty bare but you gotta love those beautiful bent grass greens! Fun and interesting front and then you get thru the back nine.
Great place
Great place to go and enjoy peaceful day outside, greens are most excellent
Monday midday round
For the middle of winter this course is in excellent condition. Some tee boxe are in need of a little grading, leveling and over seeding, but all in all for the cost this course is a good value.
Country course
This little country golf course is a blast. The greens are in great shape, and the staff is always friendly.
Worth a drive
The folks at Llano river are great . The course keeps getting better and the scenery is fantastic.
Always Great at Llano
I play Llano fairly frequently and find it to be a great experience each time. They just recently replaced their Yamaha golf carts with brand new ones. The front 9 is more of a challenge due to tighter fairways and some well-paced trees, and some holes have a deceivingly difficult layout...meaning they look short and easy or straightforward and easy but then play more difficult if you don't hit a great shot off the tee. The back 9 is more open and friendly to miss hits but there is some OB to the left on some river holes. Overall, I think it is a great course, very friendly staff, and a great value during the week.
Good course
Staff did not like golf now people, prices vary from day to day first time played senior was 20 next time 25 beer 3.00 dollars on wed beer 350 on Thursday , carts for another nine on Wednesday was 10.00 and 15.09 dollars s on Thursday . Over all loved the course, no consistent on prices
Vacation
Really nice , had a great time , rained the whole time but never to wet to play ,
DO NOT TRAVEL FOR THIS ONE!!!!
Small greens that have dead, burnt spots. Not designed efficiently to understand where the next hole is located. Multiple blind shots that may lead to lost balls, even when hitting straight down the middle. Balls for driving range were old and very used. $5 for a bucket of about 25 balls. Older gentlemen in the clubhouse was friendly. Views to holes with the river on the side were the best part. Will try every course atleast once, but this one is a one and done. You come out spending more $ to play a better course (Lady bird in Fredericksburg)
