Llano River Golf Course
About
Llano River Golf Course has the wonderful distinction of being laid out along the scenic Llano River, with beautiful views and great golf. This course should be a must-play anytime you’re touring through the immediate area.
In addition to the scenery, the most memorable feature of this course is the tiny, postage-stamp-sized greens that require pinpoint accuracy and a solid short game for pars. In fact, these well-manicured greens compare favorably to the tricky burial mound greens of Alpine and Marfa, and are surely some of the smallest targets in the state.
Mature trees line the fairways, and water hazards come into play on only three holes.
The best birdie opportunity is the short, par 5 13th hole, playing only 437 yards. Good golfers can get there in two and give it a roll at an eagle putt. The ender is talked about as the signature, a difficult 502-yard par 5 with out-of-bounds along the left as well as behind the green.
Getting there : In Llano turn left on the north side of the courthouse and head out to the course.

DO NOT TRAVEL FOR THIS ONE!!!!
Small greens that have dead, burnt spots. Not designed efficiently to understand where the next hole is located. Multiple blind shots that may lead to lost balls, even when hitting straight down the middle. Balls for driving range were old and very used. $5 for a bucket of about 25 balls. Older gentlemen in the clubhouse was friendly. Views to holes with the river on the side were the best part. Will try every course atleast once, but this one is a one and done. You come out spending more $ to play a better course (Lady bird in Fredericksburg)
Golf was good
I have enjoyed playing this course since I discovered it. Enjoy it very much. But this last time when I played my wife decided to ride along with me. With it being hot on the course there weren’t as many people out there. There were 3 people in our group along with my wife making the fourth. To our dismay when the person in the club house found out that my wife was riding. He charged us 15.00 to ride in the cart. Really? Not sure my group and I will return if they are charging her for riding especially if carts are not in demand
Good Bang for Your Buck!
Nice course. Affordable rates. Friendly Staff. Nice views of the Texas Hill Country!
Great Greens, boring back 9. River is gorgeous.
Greens are very well maintained, Front 9 is very fun to play, back 9 is fun to play. Easy to find good deals, easy to find good times in the week. Will play again.
Great Bent grass greens.
Great bent grass greens. Very well kept. The layout is a good challenge and has really great views of the LLano River on holes 8,9, and a few on the back as well. Be careful on your misses out here around the greens. It has interesting grass bunkers and calls for great creativity to stop the ball close to the hole.
Bentgrass Greens
These things were so smooth and so pure. Some of the best I’ve seen in the area and I work at a private country club. Worth the drive from Austin to see the greens and not worry about pace of play.
Great Course
Great course for the price, great flow with nice views. Pro Shop was slightly under stocked but I’m assuming that was due to the large tournament they had the previous weekend. Overall great course!
For a muni this is excellent. Great views and challenging.
The two nines are very different which is interesting and fun.
Once was enough for me!
Small greens, mostly elevated, sand traps are rough grass, fairways in poor condition. We paid $26.02 each for 3 players for a so called "Hot Deal" on Golf Now, but the standard daily senior rate is only $20 at the course. What the heck?
Needs help
The front 9 on the course is much better than the back. Most of the course you are driving toward another t box making rogue shots sketchy. It’s flat and the grass was brown, dead or it was hard pan dirt spots. They don’t seed or water int eh winter I guess but the t boxes were pretty trashed and it was a dust bowl. It was a Sunday and there were multiple 5somes which was odd but didn’t impact pace of play too much. The staff was awesome super friendly. Not sure I would go back on spring but for the price I paid it wasn’t horrible.
Fun
This course is a really nice public golf course with awesome views and great greens
