Llano River Golf Course
About
Llano River Golf Course has the wonderful distinction of being laid out along the scenic Llano River, with beautiful views and great golf. This course should be a must-play anytime you’re touring through the immediate area.
In addition to the scenery, the most memorable feature of this course is the tiny, postage-stamp-sized greens that require pinpoint accuracy and a solid short game for pars. In fact, these well-manicured greens compare favorably to the tricky burial mound greens of Alpine and Marfa, and are surely some of the smallest targets in the state.
Mature trees line the fairways, and water hazards come into play on only three holes.
The best birdie opportunity is the short, par 5 13th hole, playing only 437 yards. Good golfers can get there in two and give it a roll at an eagle putt. The ender is talked about as the signature, a difficult 502-yard par 5 with out-of-bounds along the left as well as behind the green.
Getting there : In Llano turn left on the north side of the courthouse and head out to the course.

Llano River course on a Wednesday at midday
It was a beautiful day to be out. I only saw two other groups out playing. One group was very courteous and let me play through. I played two balls every hole with no one in front of me and no group behind me. The course is in excellent shape and I finished my round in three hours.
Interesting small town course
Enjoyed play here. Course has good layout but condition considering weather this summer and fall is superb. Great job!
summer golf
taking into account the water restrictions in effect the course is in good shape - it was difficult to put in a tee in some of the boxes fairways were as good as can be expected greens were in great shape
Solid hill country golf course
It's hard to have a lush green course in the wonderful Texas heat, that's why I can't mark the course down on anything, you just have to learn to play on tight lies. That said, the greens are in great shape which is the reward when you hit them. The cart paths have seen better days, but I enjoyed the gravel ambience:) For me, it's a target-oriented course, hit your target, and scoring gets much easier, you can easily get lured into "going for it". The pace of play is great, and the local gents are as nice as they come.
good for the money
This course is nothing fancy, but the greens are in good condition and the scenery is beautiful. The green fees are very reasonable and it's usually not too crowded.
