Abita Springs Golf & Country Club

About
Abita Springs Golf Club in St. Tammany Parish is one of the area's best kept secrets. It offers one of the best golf values as well as a challenging round. The course sprawls across open, rolling hills dotted with natural water features. The layout will require the use of all the clubs in your bag with its narrow fairways and a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Accuracy will come in handy as well when dealing with the sometimes-hidden water hazards but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. The risk-reward nature of the golf course appeals to players of all skill levels. Locals who frequent the course point to the greens as Abita Springs' best feature, touting that they are comparable to those on higher-end courses.

THE COURSE IS CLOSED.
The course is closed for good. Ain't there no more.
Great course for the money. My golf buddies and I
will play almost anywhere. I used to play this course with the CAGA right after Hurricane Katrina. This course hasn't change much with the exception of some fairway bunkers that need work. You still have to make the shots! The greens were true as they were 11 years ago. The fairways remain the same, we totally enjoyed our round and pace of play. We will play this course again.
Ok
Fairways are full of St. Augustine grass. It was like hitting balls in my backyard. Club house is a barn. Practice area is not very good. Overall, not the worst place, but for the price, there are other places much better.
Good course
The course is very nice it is spring time and rain has been a problem. That was what set table for play, course well maintained but heavy rain made it play soggy.
Overall most of the holes were ok. I love playing this course and will be back. Golf now got us a great price
and you can't lose at that type of value.
Challenging, but fair, golf course layout
We played in somewhat wet and cold weather conditions but found our experience to be a good one.
The course is in decent shape for this time of year with the greens being in better shape than many of the other courses we play in January. There are plenty of water hazards but do not punish a good shot.
Nice Course
I live in Atlanta GA but visit Mandeville Louisiana quite often. I play this course every opportunity while in Mandeville. Tee boxes were nice, fair ways in great shape but the greens were fast.
Pace Of Play
Extremely slow...
This course is full of very inexperienced golfers and no martial to regulate. It gets jammed up frequently, so pack a lunch and a few of your favorite beverages - you'll be there a while!
Overall it's a great course for the price.
Watch out for hole 18
Greens hard and tough. Fairways could use some rain, but that's not the courses fault. 18 has a tree directly in line from the blue tees, which makes an interesting tee shot.
Expect to pair up if you come in on GN. They have a posted sign. Doesn't bother me, as I enjoy laying with others, but keep that in mind.
Fun track on the North Shore
Fun track, fast greens, but not much of a club house. (Of course I did not go to hang out in the club house so that did not matter) The lay out is a little difficult to follow, hopefully you will pair up with a local. Tee boxes were nice, fair ways in great shape but those darn greens were deceptively fast...I don't want to count how many times I was on the green in regulation and three putted. (but I still had a blast) If you are in the New Orleans area of the north shore of lake Pontchartrain give this track a run, just be ready to three put your great round away.
Beauty
very nice and would golf it again if we were in the area. we travel so golfing alot of different course we see many conditions. this one was great!
Away from the city and suburban sprawl
If you prefer to play in between houses you will not like this course.
This course has plenty of wildlife, such as rabbits, fox, egrets, hawks, falcon, etc.
Course is in average condition. Only one green with bad issues.
Getting Your Money's Worth
Course was in good condition given that it was cart path only. Had rained quite a lot previous days. Pace of play was very good. Very good value for money, weekend play. Recommended course.
Disappointment
Course is not being well maintained. A few years back this course was excellently maintained, and greens were pristine. Unfortunately, they have let it slip. Very hot day, and cold water was scarce, bottom of bucket at 1:00 PM. On a Saturday, only moderate crowd, which helped pace of play; but, will not lead
to much success for the course and speaks to the
condition. I hope they make a comeback.
Great course for the value
Enjoyed playing for the first time. Not crowded and course in good shape
An Improved Abita Springs GC
This was the first time I have played at Abita in about 2 years. I started about 12:30 and there was no one in front of me so I was able to finish in 3 hours. Of course it was very hot and humid at that time of the day but was able to get a deep discount on the green fee which made for an enjoyable day. The greens were slow but very smooth and consistent. There were only two greens that had some issues but the pin placements were in locations that made the issues a non issue. I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the course. It was dry, no dead spots in the fairways, cut well; overall it was in very good condition compared to years past.
Great course
This is a hidden gem. Good course, good layout and great conditions minus one or two greens under repair. Had a painfully slow four in front, but course marshall was there to speed things up. Some course knowledge will help... Some blind landing areas. Overall good track.
Not a place to have fun
I have been to the Abita Golf Course several times. It is pretty expensive compared to other golf courses in the area. The other courses from Robert to Slidell, LA will give you a much better experienceas well as value.
This is why.. (1) If you slow up people (even if there is another group ahead of you) the retirees that play there everyday will literally yell and curse at you. They believe they own the course because one or two actually work there. However, the last time was so bad, on the 4th of July, they bought us all beer after they cursed us out to move up. I guess they felt stupid after we had to wait on them the rest of the back 9. (2) The greens might be the worst in St. Tammany Parish.
Overall, I would not go there if you are trying to have a fun time and drink a couple beers in the mean time or you have 3 or more golfers.
Nice course!
Difficult course, but a couple of drivable par 4's give you a good opportunity at Birdie, or even Eagle. Course conditions were good, however Friday's heavy rain left some areas of the course wet and difficult to play. The course appears to be very well maintained. Great course for the money. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will be back to play this course in the near future.
