Oak Harbor Golf Club
About
Situated just 25 minutes outside of New Orleans, Oak Harbor Golf Club is one of the area's most popular courses. The course is a challenging test without being too intimidating for beginners. It offers risk-reward holes that will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. Lee Schmidt, who worked closely with Pete Dye, designed the golf course, and incorporated many of Dye's signature features into the design. Sculpted mounding and native grasses frame the generous landing areas and you'll even find Dye's trademark railroad ties framing the greens. There are also several lakes that come into play throughout. Oak Harbor Golf Club's seventh and 15th holes are particularly notable for their intimidating tee shots over water. If you strategize carefully, the four par 5s provide some birdie opportunities but you'll have to carefully navigate through a combination of water, traps, and undulations.

Great Greens!
Good course, long and challenging, with lots of water. Fairways need some love, mostly just some fill, but the greens were excellent. Exceptional value.
Grass
Fairways could use some maintenance however the greens are great.
Terrible conditions (except for the greens)
I get that it’s winter, but the conditions are genuinely atrocious.
I’ll start with the positive: the greens. That’s it. That’s the list of positives. They’re in good shape and always have been.
However, virtually everything else is terrible.
The drainage at this course is awful. Standing water all over the fairways, bunkers, etc.
Half the course feels like it’s “ground under repair” with flags and stakes all over the place. If my drive was in the fairway, everytime I had to either move it out of an under repair area, mud slosh, or weeds.
Bunkers are awful. Once again, zero drainage.
Tee boxes genuinely couldn’t be any worse, especially from the white tees. Nothing but dirt.
Idk, I don’t wanna be too harsh, but I paid 43 bucks and I wouldn’t have paid $20 had I known the conditions.
Not sure if other people are just generous or never play good courses, but this course was terrible.
100% do not go for $60, maybe a twilight round for cheap idk.
Good Value Winter Round
Greens were in great shape for late January, fairways were as you’d expect on a 40° day during a dry winter day.
That said, I’ve always enjoyed the layout and structure at Oak Harbor, and given the pace of play and staff helpfulness and friendliness I’ll keep coming back on occasion.
I live 30 mins away and it’s worth the drive
Lovely course
Loved this course. Houses all around but very well laid out so feels open.
Love this Course
I really enjoyed playing this course. The layout is nice winding through nice neighborhoods. The scenery was very nice with fairways along bayous.
Rude and incompetent employees
We start off by checking in and no keys for the carts that were available. We get to the 1st tee and there’s 2 groups ahead of us at our exact tee time. Then we get told by an employee to skip a hole and “hurry our booties up” so we can play faster than the people in front of us. On top of that, there’s no sand to fix the divots and there’s holes in the middle of the fairway from doing plumbing work. Overall rough experience
Top rated course in my book!
I was impressed by the course considering the weather factor 24 hours prior. Great course and staff!
Oak Harbor 7-22-25
The course was in great condition for the middle of summer. Pace of play was slow on the front nine, but the back nine opened up for the first four holes and then stuck behind a twosome that seemed to be practicing on the golf course. They were hitting three to four balls on every shot and showed no awareness that they were holding up play. On a very hot and humid afternoon, it becomes very frustrating when you are waiting for 10-15 minutes on every shot. Overall the course was in great condition. Could have used a drink from a refreshment cart.
