Great Course and friendly Atmosphere
Pinewood is a oldy but goody.. currently going through some updates and seems like they are beginning to do a lot of work to improve the greens and fairways. Really nice layout.. some straight forward holes and then again some very challenging holes with a few par 4’s that will test you. Very friendly people in the pro shop and pace of play was very good as well finished 18 in 3hrs with my son. If the work they are doing on the greens gets them looking really good, it’ll be one to visit very often.
Course layout is great! The condition of the course wasn't good, but it looked like they are working to improve.
Wet round
They had s big rain the night before and it was cartpath only not very many people there,so I got around very fast,a good course for money, needs some work but I had no problem with it I liked the layout would recommend
Showing its age
The golf course was nice enough but everything seems dated.
Lots of Geese
Worth playing at a discount rate. Front greens are in bad shape, back are better. They have a serious problem with Geese leaving packages all over the course. New management are friendly and working to improve
Will be nice when geese are gone and greens are redone.
Solo golfer
Long straight holes,
Greens need a little help.
Good course for the price.
Bang for the buck!
Considering the change from 6 months ago, this course is playing good! Yes there are areas that are not perfect but they are being addressed and I am becoming a regular. I will report back in 6 more months and hopefully Pinewood will be back to great!
Maintance of course improvement
They are making a lot of improvements in the upkeep if the course greens ate still very unpredictable but the course is not bad overall
Average Course
Pinewood is a narrow course with good hazards and fairly well-maintained fairways. The cart paths have places that should be leveled off after rains due to ruts that retain water.
The greens had many small patched of weeds that made even flat-ground putts an adventure. It's a fairly priced course that could bring a better per-round fee with some better maintenance along the lines suggested. Not a lot of choices of food in the clubhouse, so here's hoping that the new management has some money to both make improvements and market the "new" Pinewood to golfers.
Getting Better
The renewed efforts on course condition are noticable and appreciated. The fairways are cut and the greens are actually green. Not great yet but certainly improving. A good value for the price.
Back nine was terrible! Grass on tee boxes/fairways not cut!
Nice layout, slooooow greens
Even though I did not see any puddles, they have not cut the grass in a while.
Fairway grass height was like playing out of the rough.
Greens were so slow that they were not really puttable.
Wait till things dry out.
Decent Layout, Terrible Condition
One of the worst courses I've played in terms of course condition- particularly the greens. Fairways were ok but bunker sand rock hard and the greens were half sand/almost no grass. Course was empty so pace of play was fine but it really needs improvement and maintenance.
Course Layout and Condition
I thought the layout of the course was great. I thought it was a great course for 20+ handicap like myself to post a decemt score but challenging enough where I had to make some shots.
The course was in terrible condition. I had three drives I hit 250+ right in the middle of the fairway and I'm hitting off dirt as hard as concrete. I spoke with the supervisor out there who said they were working on things and they had only recently taken over the course so it's understandable.
I also had a big issue with two other things that they need to address. 1) they were allowing guys to play in tank tops and gym shorts. 2) they're maintenance people were cutting grass at 4pm. That wasn't so much the problem as was the fact the guys wouldn't even get out the way for you to make your shot.
I would go back and play but never would pay more than $20 unless they greatly improve the course conditions and hold other players to minimum standards of a golf course.
Hot Time at Pinecrest
First time at Pinecrest. Booked through GolfNow. Despite being the hottest day of the year, there was plenty of shade. The fairways and greens were heavily sanded which meant that the ball stuck to the green but did not run smooth when putted. Despite this the course was in very good shape. Most holes are narrow making accuracy count. There were at least 5 choices of tee boxes making it an ideal course for mixed-skill groups. For the first-timer it was difficult to identify where the next hole was for several holes. Also, definitely bring your own drinks as there is no wayer nor canteen. For $20, this was a good deal.
The course was in fair condition. The fairways were fair. The greens on front nine had no grass. The rough grass needs mowing. For the money it was worth playing.
We played there last year and greens were good then.
Needs PLENTY of work
First time player. My take on this course. Bad shape. No getting around it. Ankle length grass and weeds on tee boxes and edges of fairways. Fairways little to no grass. All hard pan lies. Bunkers hard as a rock. Greens are in bad shape. You can try to read them but with all the gaps in between grass, or lack thereof, caused the ball to jump all over. This is a neighborhood country club, so many homes line the fairways along with pine trees. Fairways are tight and overlap each other, so a wayward shot will end up in an adjacent fairway. Bottom line is this course needs ALOT of work. A member function to cut the tee boxes would be a good option. Morning staff was very helpful. They give you a book to familiarize yourself with the course, which I thought was neat. I've played many too notch courses and have never gotten a course book. This could be a nice little course if it was maintained better. Do yourself a favor and book a hot deal on Golf Now. I paid $30 on a Monday and after 2 holes contemplated on trying to get a refund, but I pushed through. Pace was excellent but it was also on a Monday morning. Finished in 2 1/2 hours. Still shot 82 under poor course conditions.
