The Bluffs on Thompson Creek

About
The Bluffs on Thompson Creek enjoys a beautiful setting tucked away amid mature hardwood forests. Creeks freely meander throughout the golf course, interconnecting with the sparkling ponds that can be found throughout. The layout is an Arnold Palmer design that takes advantage of the hills, bluffs, and hollows of the varied landscape. You face uneven lies and a few blind shots thanks to the terrain but you'll also get scenic views of the surrounding area. Accuracy is important to have but it's not an overly punishing layout if you happen to be errant. The golf course has a challenging start with an uphill par 3 as the opening hole. Another memorable hole is the par-3 eighth, which features a 50-foot drop to the fairway below. It's both an intimidating and beautiful hole.

Best Course in Baton Rouge area
Views along Thompson Creek are beautiful. The course is a joy to play. My husband and I took our college age granddaughter with us She loved the course and delighted us with her enthusiasm for the game. We hope to play this course again soon.
Nice course to play. But if you get the hot deal their going to charge you for range balls so your not getting a hot deal. Reg. greens fees come with range balls.
Great Round
Couple holes recovering from flood but overall good condition with scenic views. Seemed like every par 3 was 200+ which was difficult but some getable par 4s.
Shocked
I have played this course several times however this past weekend has been the wrost time yet. This course used to be pristine, but every time I have continued to go out there the conditions of the course have gotten worse. I was made aware from golfnow that there is a temp green for the second hole, so it was ok to have 1 "bad hole". However when I got to the 3rd tee there is a lot of "construction" going on throughout that hole too. Almost every tee box is beat to death also. Some tee boxes did not even have the markers for the green or blue tee off spots. I was very disappointed and almost embarrassed taking my out of town family there to play and basically wasting $68 / per person. I along with my 3 other invited guests will not be back anytime soon.
A last minute round by myself.
Weather was threatening so I arrived a bit early hoping to get an earlier start. There was only one car in the lot so I thought I had made the correct decision. But in spite of an empty course, the pro made me wait an hour to my scheduled tee time. He explained with those cheap internet rates, they make no exceptions. I have played on a lot of golf courses and never seen such illogic and total lack of flexibility. Otherwise, course was ok but not great. Could use more water and hole 2 has not been repaired after flood in August. Layout is good and setting is lovely.
Worse than expected
Even though it had rained 2 days before, the course still held water in all the bunkers and in some fairways. You could also tell the tee boxes and fairways haven't been mowed in a week which resulted in long weeds all over the course.
Great Time on Vacation from the Cold
Had a 9:50 Tee Time and the course was wide open. I played with 2 guys from LaFayette and had a big time. We played from the blue tees - with the wind and the cold this was a challenge. Great elevation changes and beautiful scenery. Course was well maintained and would love to play again when visiting the Baton Rouge area.
Really enjoyable!
Really enjoyed the course, other than the damage to a couple of holes from the recent floods the course was in pristine shape. The Personnel at the course were very friendly and we really enjoyed our day.
Great winter shape
Course was in great shape for winter play and look forward to going back. My favorite in the Baton Rouge area.
Great LA Course
One of the nicer courses I've played in Louisiana.
Thought the course as a whole was in pretty great condition - especially for the month of January. Most of the greens were in better condition than any other golf course I've been to in the 225 area. Seems like this course took on damage from the floods back in August, but can tell they have been working on repairs. Holes 2 and 3 (which were completely closed back in September)are back open, but still in repair.
Good driving range/putting green to warmup on with unlimited balls.
This was my 2nd time at this course and still have never had any golfers waiting behind us or in front of us.
Gem in the middle of no where
Deep in the woods we pulled up on a resort style course that probably isn't getting the rounds it thought it was going to get. I thought the course was great. I loved hole #8 it had about a 40' drop almost 200 yards with water on the right and 2 huge bunkers. I wish we had something like this in New Orleans.
Excellent greens
Hole 2 & 3 under construction was the only blemish of the day...even the bunkers were in great shape! Greens were fast and tricky: perfect!
Tough but fair
Great course but have to think on every shot best course for scenery and toughness
Well worth the drive and price
I played The Bluffs after find an amazing deal on here. The forecast was grim, but I figured for the price, why not go ahead and book it? The rain held off, and stayed south of Baton Rouge, setting up for an excellent, yet hot day on the course. This is my first time playing out there, but upon arrival, I knew I committed highway robbery. Ive had driving range outings be more expensive than what I paid for 18 holes on this day, and The Bluffs includes practice balls in all rounds purchased. The drive is noticeable, but not too far. The course and scenery is gorgeous though, and well worth the drive. The course plays long and narrow, which is a challenge for me, but it was not too difficult to make the outing miserable. Im a consistent low 90s/high 80s golfer, and ended with a 92 on the day. When it was all said and done, I was utterly floored I paid what I did for the course I played. The course was very well maintained, offered a challenging, yet enjoyable setting for a round of golf. I am already planning on returning next week with a buddy. I will definitely be back soon, especially with great and affordable prices.
Great golf
Always a pleasure to play The Bluffs. From the people in the club house to the course even the practice range, first class all the way. If you have not played The Bluffs you are missing out on a golfing gem
Beautiful Place
Green fees were hugely discounted and the place had amazing tee boxes! Beautifully payed out! Can't wait to bring my friends to play this course with me.
Excellent layout with great amenities
This course has a great layout with it being the best course I've played in Louisiana. Elevation changes on every hole added to the overall great feel this course has.
