The Bluffs on Thompson Creek
About
The Bluffs on Thompson Creek enjoys a beautiful setting tucked away amid mature hardwood forests. Creeks freely meander throughout the golf course, interconnecting with the sparkling ponds that can be found throughout. The layout is an Arnold Palmer design that takes advantage of the hills, bluffs, and hollows of the varied landscape. You face uneven lies and a few blind shots thanks to the terrain but you'll also get scenic views of the surrounding area. Accuracy is important to have but it's not an overly punishing layout if you happen to be errant. The golf course has a challenging start with an uphill par 3 as the opening hole. Another memorable hole is the par-3 eighth, which features a 50-foot drop to the fairway below. It's both an intimidating and beautiful hole.

Beautiful!
Hands down best overall experience to date. The course was difficult for a beginner such as myself, but everything from the scenery to the staff was amazing. Turned a rough day of golf into a really good time. Can't wait for my game to improve so I can really enjoy the whole experience.
bluffs does it again
Great course with beautiful views and challenging layout.
Great value for the quality of course
The Bluffs is by far one of my favorite courses near Baton Rouge. The course is always well maintained (aside from some rough spots on the 2nd fairway recently) and is challenging enough to make it interesting. The greens were cut really short which made putting an experience especially on those holes where water is in play. Be careful as too strong of a putt may have your ball end up in the drink. It has a very challenging #9 where you have to choose to go left or right on a split fairway...really fun shot selection where you can go for the green in two from a good drive down the left side of the fairway...otherwise it is a three shot hole. #17 and #18 are some of my favorite finishing holes and I ended up going birdie-birdie to finish the round which made it that much sweeter. We had a golf now hot time for $25/player with cart....you simply cant beat that!
Enjoy playing here
Once again, had a great round here. Played solo, and finished in 2 hours and 30 minutes. Course was empty in the morning. There was construction in the middle of one of the fairways, but we can live with that. Greens were very fast. Great discounts bring us LSU students up here - it's cheaper to play here than the LSU course if you catch the right deal. Will definitely be back soon.
A good day
The best bang for your buck on golf now! When you pick up a hot deal and play for $30 some courses treat you second rate, cause that's what you paid. Not the bluffs, they put the deal out there and you are the lucky one who snagged it up.
They are happy to see you, and you are treated as a full paid guest, with all the amenities of a full member. The course is in acceptable condition, we played after a big tournament, so it had taken a beating. If you are going to pay full rate, course condition will be a let down, plan to have lunch at the clubhouse overlooking the creek, and improve the enjoyment of the day. Have played several times in the last 6 months, and have watched several improvements made to the course. If you are only going to make the trip once a year Play this course in the spring 2nd week in April.
There's a reason this course is on the decline
One of the most beautiful courses in the state but unfortunately has staff who don't know how to manage it. On a weekday with hardly anyone on the course, we encountered noisy workers on 6 of the first 9 holes including a crew with chainsaws who were oblivious to our presence. Then on the back 9, staff came out and turned on the sprinklers on the greens while we were in the middle of playing them. We called the clubhouse and got no apology. It's a shame that we are discouraged from returning to what is otherwise an amazing golf course.
Wait for a patch of good weather
I've played this course several times. This was my least favorite round, simply because we had a few days of rain prior and the course holds a lot of water due to its hilly landscape, particularly around the greens.
Golf Now: great price at Bluffs
I got a green fee during the week for $20 from golf now.com. The course was very nice and in great condition, the practice facilities were well taken care of and accommodating. The greens were in especially good shape. Great deal on a great round of golf.
Awesome course
Great course with elevation changes. Greens were in great shape and very slick. Tough pins for slick greens but very much enjoyed it out there.
Best course in the Baton Rouge Area!
The elevation of this course makes it my favorite! Very serene surroundings and many gorgeous views! Plenty of water and beauty at every turn!
Great Course and pleasant time!
Had a great time playing. Course is probably some of the best condition of all the other courses around BR. Greens were quite sandy, but rolled quick and true. . Fairways were good and not dried out/compact. Some of the fringes were soggy, and if bump n run is in your bag... take it out. Staff: a simple course in "manners" would be effective. Cart guy was friendly and helpful, and that's about it.
My biggest problem of the morning, was not the balls I lost, or the shanks I hit, but the 2 or 3 groups of women who played. While I am trying to tee up on the first tee, a little behind due to a slow pair in front of me, they're clambering away about how slow the course is and why were having to wait. Kinda rubbed me the wrong way early. SO, if they're behind you, let them through, and enjoy an excellent round of golf!
Beautiful Course!
Can't wait to play on this beautiful course again!
The Bluffs
Have played The Bluffs several times over the last 15 years, I've seen it better and I've seen it much worse.
The greens and fairways were in very good shape with very bad spots. The bunkers were recovering from heavy rain and there was not much sand in them.
Love the layout, wish I could play it more often. They just need to station a Marshall at 17 to keep people moving, they just want to stand and look at the scenery or hit balls until they hit the green.
This course was good for the value
The overall conditions of the course was ok. Some greens needed a little repair. Needs more yardage markers on the course. Over it was a good value for the money
The bluffs experience
I played the beautiful bluffs course. We got there and the staff was friendly and the range was setup for us. The course was in great shape. The bunkers had not been raked, but this is most likely because the course had received extensive rain. I'm sure the bunkers are well kept normally. There was a beverage cart girl on the course.
Great place to play
The Bluffs course is beautiful just wish I would have known that the greens were sanded. Overall everything else was wonderful.
Course in great condition and fun to play
The Bluffs course was in great condition, greens, traps, fairways, and tee box. The layout is wonderful and utilizes the topography which we do not have much of. Water was a hazard but not a burden, and traps strategic but again not over barring.
Good track
Ive played the course many times over the past, course has always been a good challange and never really have any complaints, but the last couple of visits the pro shop person was very rude, and not very hospitable. They also did not have anything available for breakfast and that was a disappointment becsuse since we drove up from Baton Rouge for a early tee time. No other complaints other than pro shop staff.
Great course for the money
From the moment you step out your vehicle it's one remarkable experience. First class facilities from clubhouse, driving range and of course the course. A challenge awaits on every tee and it only gets better as you move throughout the course. The 17th and 18th were more than worth the price of the green fee. Spectacular. Will make it a point to play again soon.
