Good time!
Course was decent. A little work on some greens and this would be a 4.5 stars.
Poor Upkeep
The course is in dire need of repairs ranging from parking lot, bag drop, golf carts, pathways, greens, tee boxes, bathrooms, water stations. This course is merely a curbside appeal. The course is terribly overgrown, neglected, and poorly taken care of. Do not waste your time here.
Solid if you can find a value booking
If you can get this course under $40, jump on the opportunity. It's not "incredible," but it is solid right now. As long as rain is happening, the team keeps the greens in decent shape. They also just got new carts which is a plus. Olay this course if you're local and can get a decent deal every time.
Nice course that has been neglected for a long time
Greens and tees are ok, better than they were 6 months ago.
Fairways in decent shape.
Bunkers primarily hard pack clay.
All other areas of the course completely neglected.
Some challenging holes. Almost no one on course (not surprised).
Was probably a really nice course years ago but basically neglected now.
This could be a fantastic golf venue only if...
Timbercreek golf course is a really terrific layout and anyone can see it has the potential to be a first rate golf destination, if not for the poor condition.
I have recently played all three of the 9 hole courses (27 holes) and they are all in rough shape, Magnolia being the worst. The concrete cart paths are so uneven and bumpy it's better to avoid them in spots. There are tree limbs and overgrowth blocking parts of the paths as well. The tee boxes are dry, dead and some of the tee box markers are even missing somehow. The par aid ball washers are dry, crusty and unusable. The fairways have gotten better in the last few months (Jul, Aug 2023), some of them even look proper, but a lot of it is nearly dead and too many bare spots. The lake on #7 dogwood (if I remember right) is rancid and smelly. Some of the greens are have gotten better over the last few months but some of them are so bad you can't putt on them due to huge dead spots. The sand traps are unplayable because of the rocks and hardness and lack of sand. Some of the golf carts are in really bad shape. One of them I got recently had a slice in the seat and the cushion was wet so when I sat down my pants got soaked with pungent water. Another had the hubcap fly off while I was trying to drive on the uneven bumpy cart path. The driving range has little decent grass and is full of rocks, I got scratches all over my brand new Taylor Made 5 wood first time I used it there. The balls are heavily worn.
This venue is close to where I live so I really hope something changes soon with Timbercreek because it has the potential to be an exceptional golf course. I would probably buy a membership there if they improved things, but for now I can't believe I paid $40 for to play a course in this bad of shape. I prefer to play Magnolia Grove, Glenn Creek or Azalea for about the same price and those venues are managed correctly, in great shape compared to Timbercreek. Just too far to drive sometimes.
I will add the staff provide good service. The drink cart attendant is awesome. The golf pro is good. The covered driving range spots are nice. I didn't try the food yet so I can't say anything about that.
If you're planning to play golf in Baldwin/Mobile County AL, I would say avoid Timbercreek as well as Lake Forest and Rock Creek if you can. Instead try Glen Lakes, Azalea or Magnolia Grove for a better experience. Those courses are in proper condition. Magnolia Grove is world class. Note - I moved here 6 months ago so these are just the courses I have played, there may be others around here I haven't checked out yet.
i'll be back
I got sick and had to leave the course. I'll play again after I recover from surgery.
Keep in mind all courses are struggling from no rain
The biggest problem is everything is dry and that from the huge lack of rain this year. The course has really made progress! Thank you for getting some new carts! See y'all again soon!
Decent Course
Fun to play. Decent greens and fairways. Bit of a fire ant problem in the fairways. Bunkers are just hard clay really. No cart people on the course until 1-2 in the afternoon, had to wait until the turn.
Limited water jugs on the course path and one was not filled.
Friendly staff.
Greens and cart were bad
Greens were in poor shape and inconsistent. Cart seat was broken and the parking brake didn’t work so I had to be careful where I left my cart to make sure it was still there when I got back to it between shots. Spoke to staff and they seemed surprised that I didn’t enjoy the round. Offered no discount or refund of any kind. Absolutely will never go back
A lot of work needed
This has the potential to be a beautiful course but as it is it is in really rough condition. Landscaping needs to be a priority, clearing cart paths of bushes would help immensely and a lot of TLC given to the greens in fairways. The owner knows the challenges and is trying everything he can to get things turned around. It probably needs a couple million dollars thrown at it.
still a good value
Timbercreek is still fun to play and is a good value.
